  • Steelers' Calvin Austin: Set for key role

Austin likely will be the Steelers' top return man this season and may also have a role on offense, Dave Bryan of Steelers Depot reports.

The 2022 fourth-round pick had a strong, well-rounded preseason, posting a 4-93-1 receiving line and taking five punt returns for 107 yards. Austin can also handle kick returns and will probably get a few carries on end-arounds or jet sweeps, but he's unlikely to play a large number of snaps on offense when Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Allen Robinson all are healthy -- as is the case heading into Week 1 against the 49ers.

  • Jalin Hyatt WR | NYG

Giants' Jalin Hyatt: Quiet in preseason finale

Hyatt failed to catch his lone target in Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday.

Hyatt put together a strong showing against the Panthers last week (4-35-1), but he failed to get involved in the Giants' final tune-up game. The rookie wideout brings tremendous speed as a slot receiver, but he may find it hard to earn snaps ahead of veteran starters Isaiah Hodgins and Darius Slayton out of the gate. Assuming he makes the final roster, Hyatt should provide depth for the Giants ahead of a Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys on Sept. 10.

  • Daewood Davis WR | CAR

Dolphins' Daewood Davis: Has movement in extremities

The Dolphins announced that Davis (undisclosed) "is conscious and has movement in all extremities" following Saturday's preseason game in Jacksonville.

Davis remained face down on the turf after taking a big hit in the fourth quarter. He was immobilized on a backboard before getting carted off and transported to a local Jacksonville hospital. The nature of Davis' injury has yet to be revealed.

  • Garrett Wilson WR | NYJ

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Catches Rodgers' first TD

Wilson corralled all three of his targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over the Giants.

Wilson joined new quarterback Aaron Rodgers in making their respective 2023 preseason debuts with the Jets on Saturday. The talented duo connected for an easy 14-yard touchdown to close out the first-team's second and final drive of the game. Wilson is poised to take his game to the next level after the Jets traded for the two-time MVP this past offseason. The Ohio State product accrued a 83/1103/4 receiving line last season while winning AFC Rookie of the Year with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White throwing him the ball, so expectations will be high for the star wideout following Rodgers' addition. Wilson and the Jets will kick off the regular season with a matchup against the Bills on Sept. 11.

  • Daewood Davis WR | CAR

Dolphins' Daewood Davis: Gets carted off field Saturday

Davis (upper body) was carted off the field during Saturday's 31-18 preseason loss at Jacksonville, Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

After taking a big hit in the fourth quarter, Davis remained face down on the turf before being immobilized on a backboard and placed on the cart. The game was suspended shortly thereafter, and the exact nature of the undrafted rookie's injury is not yet known.

  • Andrei Iosivas WR | CIN

Bengals' Andrei Iosivas: Scores TD in preseason finale

Iosivas caught three of six targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 21-19 preseason loss to Washington.

The rookie sixth-round pick played with the second- and third-string offenses on a night where the Bengals rested all their starters, scoring the team's first touchdown before playing into the second half. Iosivas seems to be headed for a spot on the Week 1 roster, though he might be limited to special teams if he even plays at all.

  • Mecole Hardman WR | BUF

Jets' Mecole Hardman: Injures finger Saturday

Coach Robert Saleh said after Saturday's 32-24 preseason win against the Giants that Hardman hurt his finger during the game, but the wide receiver will be "fine," Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Hardman was injured at the end of a deep incompletion from quarterback Zach Wilson late in the second quarter, going to the locker room after checking out his hand, per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. Prior to his departure, Hardman had two catches (on three targets) for 17 yards. Once the regular season rolls around, Hardman will have less competition for targets behind Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard (shoulder) following the recent retirement of Corey Davis.

  • Giants' Bryce Ford-Wheaton: Out Saturday

Ford-Wheaton (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason game against the Jets, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Ford-Wheaton will now have missed all three preseason games. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Giants in March. Raanan notes that Ford-Wheaton had a good chance at making the 53-man roster as a special teams player, but his continued absence puts that at jeopardy.

  • Chris Godwin WR | TB

Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Dominates first quarter

Godwin caught each of his four targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore.

Godwin ran circles around Baltimore's second-string defense and accounted for four of the six targets from starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. There's no doubt Godwin and Mike Evans will be Mayfield's main targets this season, starting with a Week 1 road game against the Vikings.

  • Cornell Powell WR | PIT

Chiefs' Cornell Powell: Tweaks hamstring in win

Powell, who caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Saturday's 33-32 preseason win over the Browns, is dealing with a hamstring injury, Pete Sweeney of SB Nation reports.

Head coach Andy Reid noted after the game that Powell was dealing with "a little bit" of a hamstring issue and is confident that the injury is not serious. Powell played in all three preseason games and accrued six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.
