Jermaine Burton WR | CIN
Bengals' Jermaine Burton: Professionalism questioned
Burton has made some highlight-reel plays in the preseason demonstrating his talent, but he has also at times displayed why he slipped in the draft, raising questions about his professionalism, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
During the preseason, Burton was often on the field late in games, and not with the first two units. One report was an unverified remark by broadcaster Al Michaels of Burton sleeping through meetings, and quarterback Joe Burrow said that Burton needs to "stay in the playbook." Burton is clearly behind Andrei Iosivas right now for the No. 3 receiver role, and Trenton Irwin may also be ahead of the third-round rookie in the pecking order.

Christian Kirk WR | SF
Jaguars' Christian Kirk: Cleared of calf injury
Kirk (calf) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
The only player who didn't attain full participation for Jacksonville on Wednesday was safety Daniel Thomas (Achilles), so Kirk had no limitations and isn't in danger of missing the season opener in Miami on Sunday. Kirk had missed some time in training camp due to what was described as a mild calf injury, but he has plenty of established chemistry with quarterback Trevor Lawrence and is set to work as Jacksonville's top wide receiver following the offseason departure of Calvin Ridley.

Roman Wilson WR | PIT
Steelers' Roman Wilson: Limited in Wednesday's practice
Wilson (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson missed most of training camp and preseason due to a left ankle sprain, and while the rookie third-round draft pick has made some progress in his recovery, his status for Sunday's season opener against the Falcons remains up in the air. If Wilson is able to upgrade to full practice participation Thursday or Friday, he would likely avoid Pittsburgh's final injury report, which would pave the way for the wide receiver to make his NFL debut Sunday.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR | DAL
Bills' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Healthy to kick off regular season
Valdes-Scantling (neck) is not listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Valdes-Scantling has apparently made a full recovery from the neck injury he suffered in an Aug. 17 preseason game versus the Steelers. Moving past the neck issue doesn't guarantee that the veteran deep threat will be active Sunday versus Arizona, though, as all of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins are healthy and seem to be ahead of him on the depth chart. If he suits up Sunday, Valdes-Scantling may be limited to just a handful of snaps.

DJ Chark WR | ATL
Chargers' DJ Chark: Not seen at practice
Chark (hip) wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
Assuming the Chargers officially list Chark as a non-participant on their first injury report of 2024, he'll have two more chances to potentially get in some practice work before Sunday's season opener versus the Raiders.

Rashid Shaheed WR | SEA
Saints' Rashid Shaheed: Avoids injury report
Shaheed (toe/foot) wasn't listed on the Saints' injury report Wednesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
After tending to hamstring tightness in the first two weeks of August, Shaheed has been managing a toe/foot injury since then. Both head coach Dennis Allen and Shaheed himself expressed optimism about the third-year wideout being available for Week 1. Now that his status is confirmed ahead of Sunday's season opener against the Panthers, Shaheed will be looking to improve upon his 46-719-5 receiving line over 15 appearances in 2023.

Xavier Weaver WR | ARI
Cardinals' Xavier Weaver: Misses Wednesday's practice
Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Wednesday that Weaver will remain out of practice due to an oblique injury, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
The undrafted rookie wide receiver out of Colorado "nicked" his oblique earlier in the week, and it appears he's still in the recovery process based on Gannon's comments Wednesday. While Weaver continues to battle his oblique issue, expect Zach Pascal and Chris Moore to see increased reps in the Cardinals' WR room.

Ja'Marr Chase WR | CIN
Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Practices Wednesday
Chase returned to practice Wednesday amid ongoing contract negotiations, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
Chase had resumed practicing with teammates by the end of August before sitting out Cincinnati's most recent three sessions, so his presence Wednesday seems like a step in the right direction. It's unclear whether Chase was limited at practice in any capacity. The Bengals are have two more official practices scheduled prior to Sunday's season opener against the Patriots.

DeAndre Hopkins WR | BAL
Titans' DeAndre Hopkins: At practice Wednesday
Hopkins (knee) was present for practice Wednesday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
It's a good sign that Hopkins is on the field as the Titans begin their practice week ahead of Sunday's season opener against the Bears. The team will release its first Week 1 injury report Wednesday, when the extent of Hopkins' participation will be known.

DeAndre Hopkins WR | BAL
Titans' DeAndre Hopkins: Expected to practice
Hopkins (knee) is expected to practice Wednesday, but head coach Brian Callahan said he's unsure how much the wide receiver will do, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.
Hopkins looks as though he'll be a limited participant as he works his way back from the knee strain he suffered at the end of July. No reports emerged in August suggesting that Hopkins practiced at any point during the month, so the Titans could restrict his workload this Sunday at Chicago if he ends up playing. Should Hopkins end up inactive, wideout Treylon Burks would likely fill in alongside Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.
