Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Held to three catches in season opener
Smith caught three of six targets for 53 yards in a 24-22 Week 1 victory against the Commanders on Sunday.
Smith made a big 31-yard catch on a beautiful third-down throw from Jalen Hurts late in the third quarter to help set up a Philadelphia field goal. Beyond that reception, the veteran wideout was mostly held in check, and he finished behind both tight end Dallas Goedert (77 yards) and fellow WR Dontayvion Wicks (73 yards) for the team lead in that category. Smith enters 2026 as the Eagles' top wideout following the offseason departure of A.J. Brown (ankle), but that may not necessarily lead to a heavy increase in production, as Philadelphia has a variety of offensive weapons and Hurts could look to spread the ball around more -- in fact, his 14 completions Sunday went to six different pass catchers, none of which had more than four receptions. Smith and the Eagles will be heavily favored in a Week 2 tilt against Tennessee next Sunday.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Logs no preseason action
Smith didn't make an appearance during the Eagles' three-game preseason slate.
Smith picked up a hamstring injury early on in training camp that kept him sidelined for the Eagles' first two exhibitions. After logging a full practice Aug. 24, he had put the issue behind him, but he still rested with the rest of the starters in the team's exhibition finale. With A.J. Brown getting traded to the Patriots this offseason, Smith is positioned as Philadelphia's No. 1 WR, while Dontayvion Wicks, rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon and Hollywood Brown are the next players up at the position.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Full participant Monday
Smith (hamstring) is a full participant in Monday's practice, EJ Smith of PHLY Sports reports.
The Eagles got some good news in their receiving corps with both Smith and Makai Lemon (hamstring) full go for Monday's session. Smith returned in a limited capacity last week and is now ramping up further as the season approaches.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Remains limited at practice due to hamstring
Smith (hamstring) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
After suffering a hamstring injury early in camp, Smith had been able to work out off to the side last week before seemingly taking a step forward Monday, when he was spotted on the field in full uniform. The wideout was a limited participant in that session, and he'll have a cap on his reps once again Wednesday as the Eagles continue to ease him back from the injury. The Eagles haven't offered any indication that Smith's availability for the start of the regular season will be in any jeopardy, but it won't be surprising if he is held out of the team's final two preseason tilts.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Appears prepared to practice
Smith (hamstring) is suited up in advance of Monday's practice, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Smith initially hit the sidelines Aug. 4 due to a hamstring injury, but in recent days he was seen working on the side last Thursday before taking part in pregame warmups before Saturday's preseason game at Baltimore, which he sat out. Ultimately, he appears to be closing in on a return to practice.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Won't play, but going through warmups
Smith (hamstring) is warming up on the field before Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Smith won't play, but this is at least the latest sign that his hamstring injury isn't too serious. He was spotted doing side work during practice mid-week, so a return could be coming fairly soon.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Not practicing, but working out Thursday
Smith (hamstring) won't participate in Thursday's practice, but he was spotted working out off to the side, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Smith will sit out his seventh practice of training camp, though his ability to run routes and take part in rehab work on a side field is a sign that he could soon be ready to take part in team drills. While the wideout will almost certainly sit out Saturday's preseason opener versus the Ravens, that might have been the case even if he was fully healthy.

Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Not practicing, but should play Week 1
Smith (hamstring) isn't participating in Tuesday's practice, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
Though Smith will sit out his fifth consecutive practice, he appears to be making strides in his recovery from a hamstring injury. According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, Smith was spotted doing some running on the field prior to Tuesday's session, which he hadn't done in advance of any of the previous four practices. The Eagles continue to view the hamstring issue as a short-term concern and appear to be playing it safe with their No. 1 wideout.
