Taysom Hill QB | NO
Saints' Taysom Hill: Makes most of limited touches
Hill ran four times for 81 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for two yards during Sunday's 27-26 win over the Falcons.
Hill's first touch of the game came on the Saints' second offensive drive and went for 57 yards. Two plays later, he finished the job with an 11-yard touchdown run. The do-it-all weapon got a chance to be the Saints' starting quarterback last year, but with Jameis Winston back to full strength, he's been relegated to his change-of-pace role, which may be what suits his skill set best.

Mike Gesicki TE | CIN
Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Targeted just once
Gesicki secured his only target for one yard during Sunday's 20-7 win over the Patriots.
Gesicki was barely involved as a route runner and only received one look from Tua Tagovailoa in his first game under new head coach Mike McDaniel, an outcome that portends poorly for his rest-of-season prospects. Barring an unforeseen changeup in Miami's offensive game plan, Gesicki no longer may fall within the category of tight ends boasting weekly fantasy upside, barring multi-TE formats. At the very least, fantasy managers will need to see some production from Gesicki before leaning on him in start-sit decisions.

Donald Parham Jr. TE | PIT
Chargers' Donald Parham: No practice Monday
Parham (hamstring) is listed as a non-participant on the Chargers' estimated practice report Monday.
Parham was inactive for Week 1 against the Raiders and likely will be a long shot to play in Thursday's matchup with the Chiefs after being labeled as a DNP on Monday. If Parham is sidelined again, expect Tre' McKitty to operate as the primary backup to Gerald Everett, who shined during his Chargers debut.

Mark Andrews TE | BAL
Ravens' Mark Andrews: Paces Ravens in targets Sunday
Andrews caught five passes for 52 yards Sunday against the Jets.
The star tight end played the most snaps of any Baltimore skill-position player, but it was the receivers that provided much of the fantasy production with Devin Duvernay and Rashod Bateman combining for over 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Andrews nonetheless was solid, reeling in five of his team-leading seven targets. Though Andrews' yardage output wasn't gaudy and he didn't find the end zone Week 1, his usage still was promising. He'll face the Miami secondary Week 2 in Baltimore's home opener.

Geoff Swaim TE | CLE
Titans' Geoff Swaim: Catches three passes in Week 1
Swaim caught three of four targets for 19 yards during Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Giants.
Swaim played five more snaps than Austin Hooper, who finished with just one catch for six yards on two targets. After the game, coach Mike Vrabel said Swaim earned his large role on offense due to the fact that "he's the best blocking tight end we have," per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site. Swaim finished last season with 32 receptions, 210 yards and three scores across 16 appearances. He's never been a prolific pass catcher, but it appears he's carved out a major role in Tennessee's offense, which doesn't bode well for Hooper's fantasy success moving forward.

Johnny Mundt TE | PHI
Vikings' Johnny Mundt: Gets start at TE in season opener
Mundt had three receptions for 17 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Green Bay. He started at tight end with Irv Smith coming off the bench because Smith was eased into action, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It was Mundt's fourth career start, but he could see a reduced role if Smith returns to full speed Week 2. However, there's no guarantee Smith will get back to his prior form after missing 2021 with a knee injury and working his way back from an Aug. 2 thumb issue that required surgery.

Irv Smith TE | HOU
Vikings' Irv Smith: Limited role in Week 1
Smith didn't catch either of his two targets and played on just 19 of of the offense's 62 snaps in Sunday's win against Green Bay. He came off the bench while Johnny Mundt got the start. "I missed a lot of camp," Smith told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "We didn't want to kind of rush me into things too much. Just wanted to get a feel and keep building on it."
Smith didn't have much of a role on offense because he was eased into action after Aug. 2 thumb surgery and after missing last season due to a knee injury. His role in the offense should increase, but it's not clear if he'll move into a starting spot Week 2.
-
Josiah Deguara TE | SF
Packers' Josiah Deguara: Opens in reserve role
Deguara was targeted twice and caught two passes for 28 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
Both of Deguara's receptions led to first downs, but they also both came on the Packers' final drive with backup quarterback Jordan Love at the helm. Deguara had a chance to open the season in a more prominent role with fellow tight end Robert Tonyan recovering from a knee injury, but with Tonyan not only taking the field but starting Week 1, expect Deguara to continue working as a reserve.
-
Jelani Woods TE | NYJ
Colts' Jelani Woods: Plays just eight snaps in NFL debut
Woods played on eight of the offense's 92 snaps and was not targeted in the passing game in Sunday's overtime tie at Houston.
Woods had a small role on offense and was clearly behind Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson. The 2022 third-round draft pick will be a developmental project this season.
-
Jonnu Smith TE | PIT
Patriots' Jonnu Smith: Catches three passes in Week 1
Smith was on the field for 39 of a possible 57 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Dolphins, en route catching three of his four targets for 33 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Given that the Patriots currently aren't rostering a fullback, the team figures to feature plenty of two-tight end sets this coming season, as evidenced by the fact that Hunter Henry (two catches for 20 yards) logged 44 snaps Week 1. With that in mind, both Smith and Henry should see steady playing time in the weeks ahead, but with a TE timeshare in play, Smith is going to be a hit-or-miss fantasy option.
