  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Cowboys' Dalvin Cook: Quiet in Cowboys debut

Cook rushed six times for 12 yards and caught his only target for 10 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the 49ers.

Cook got a nice opportunity to step up in his Dallas debut as Rico Dowdle (illness) was a late scratch, but Cook didn't seem to have much juice in his 29-year-old legs. With just 2.0 yards per carry, Cook looked like the diminished version of himself that plodded to 3.2 yards per carry without a touchdown during the 2023 regular season rather than the prime Cook that posted four consecutive seasons over 1,100 rushing yards in 2019 through 2022. Cook's scheduled to revert to the practice squad but could be elevated again for Week 9 against the Falcons.

  • Jordan Mason RB | MIN

49ers' Jordan Mason: Could have played through injury

Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated after Sunday's 30-24 win over the Cowboys that Mason (shoulder) could have come back into the game if necessary, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reports.

Mason was deemed questionable to return after a first-half shoulder injury. He was never officially ruled out but watched Isaac Guerendo handle 14 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Mason will have some extra recovery time with the 49ers on bye in Week 9 before traveling to Tampa Bay for Week 10.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Steps in for injured starter again

Guerendo rushed 14 times for 85 yards and a touchdown while securing three of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 30-24 win over Dallas.

Guerendo took over mid-game after Jordan Mason (shoulder) aggravated a nagging AC joint injury early in the contest. The 24-year-old Guerendo performed as he did the last time this scenario unfolded, which is one of the reasons the rookie was pegged a deep sleeper heading into drafts this year. The downside from a fantasy perspective is that San Francisco will observe its bye this upcoming week, and star running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) has a shot at returning in Week 10 against Tampa Bay. Guerendo still is worth looking at if he was dropped prior to Mason's activation Sunday, but be aware of CMC's status come Nov. 10.

  • Lions' Craig Reynolds: Three carries in win

Reynolds rushed the ball three times for three yards in Sunday's 52-14 win over the Titans.

Reynolds remained a non-factor on offense in Week 8, even in a blowout. The running back has found touches hard to come by in the backfield this season, operating as a distant third option behind David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Through seven games in 2024, Reynolds has turned nine carries into 24 yards.

  • Bears' Roschon Johnson: Finds end zone in defeat

Johnson rushed two times for six yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 18-15 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.

Johnson posted between 25 and 30 yards in Weeks 3 through 5. However, the veteran has rushed seven times for 14 yards over Chicago's last two games. With D'Andre Swift playing at a high level, Johnson may have limited touches going forward.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Modest numbers in win

Robinson rushed the ball 16 times for 65 yards in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Bears. He added one reception on one target for 11 yards.

The Commanders let standout rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels lead the offense, as he took to the air 38 times and also accounted for eight of the team's 32 rush attempts. Nevertheless, Robinson had a decent performance when called upon, tallying a long gain of 19 yards while gaining at least four yards on half of his 16 carries. The Commanders' only touchdown came on a Hail Mary to end the game, which also ended Robison's four-game streak of reaching the end zone.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Bears' D'Andre Swift: Excellent performance in loss

Swift rushed the ball 18 times for 129 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Commanders.

Chicago's offense was sluggish coming out of its bye, and Swift was no exception as he managed only 10 carries for 31 yards at halftime. He got things rolling in the final two quarters, however, highlighted by a 56-yard touchdown late in the third quarter as well as a 22-yard scamper early in the fourth quarter. With the performance, Swift topped 100 yards on the ground for the first time this season and now has taken a trip to the end zone in four straight contests.

  • James Cook RB | BUF

Bills' James Cook: Monster game Sunday

Cook rushed 17 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns while adding 22 yards on three receptions in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Seahawks.

Cook was the star on offense in a one-sided affair Sunday, running roughshod over Seattle's porous rushing defense en route to two scores. The 24-year-old had already scored twice in a game this season, but this was his first 100-plus-yard rushing contest in 2024. Cook has now produced a combined 597 yards from scrimmage with eight total touchdowns through seven games, making him an elite fantasy tailback heading into next Sunday's tilt against Miami.

  • Jordan Mason RB | MIN

49ers' Jordan Mason: Hurts shoulder on SNF

Mason (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Mason stayed down after a first-quarter run, checked back into the game but subsequently went to the locker room after rushing six times for 18 yards. He had been playing through an AC joint sprain in his shoulder that he suffered in Week 6 against the Seahawks, so this is presumably an aggravation of that injury. Isaac Guerendo will lead San Francisco's backfield if Mason's unable to return Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Falters on 13 touches

Walker rushed nine times for 12 yards and caught four of five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Bills.

Walker was dealing with an illness leading up to Sunday's kickoff, but it was a negative game script that led to an abysmal showing from a fantasy perspective. Seattle's leading rusher wound up being quarterback Geno Smith (5-16-0) on a day during which the rushing attack could get nothing going. Walker was coming off consecutive appearances with at least one touchdown scored, so fantasy managers should simply move past this dud as the Seahawks prepare to host the Rams next Sunday.
