Cowboys' Darren McFadden says he'll split carries with Joseph Randle
Cowboys running back Darren McFadden indicated during a radio interview Tuesday that the plan in Dallas is for Joseph Randle and McFadden to split carries out of the backfield, according to The Dallas Morning News.
“You know the competitor in me definitely wants to be the No. 1 guy that goes out there," he told KRLD-FM. "But at the same time, it’s like, man, you know we’re going to split carries. So whoever goes out there or goes out there second -- I just know whenever I do get a chance to get the ball in my hands, I’m going to go out there and go 110 percent.”
McFadden has had his share of injury issues, which have kept him from reaching his full potential in the NFL. He already missed some time this preseason due to a hamstring injury, but it appears McFadden is getting back to 100 percent.
“I feel great. Trainers are kind of just easing me back into things, but as far as I how I feel, I feel like I’m ready to get out there and go 100 percent," he said. "You know, they are going to be cautious. Dealing with a hamstring, they can be tricky. But we definitely don’t want to make any rush and delay it further.”
McFadden was also very complimentary of Randle during his interview.
“He’s a very slashy guy," McFadden said. "The one thing that I’ve learned about him since we’ve been out here is he’s a hard worker, and I love to see that in a running back. He’s a guy who can (hit a) home run at any time. He’s not afraid to stick his nose in there and pick up a blitz.”
