  • Bills' Jonathan Williams: Sits out with rib injury

Williams will not play this week while he continues to deal with a rib injury, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.

Williams left Friday's preseason matchup with a rib injury and despite original reports indicating he appeared fine after the game, he'll get the week off for further rest and recovery. The fifth-round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft is expected to play in a depth role during the upcoming season behind the likes of LeSean McCoy, Reggie Bush and Mike Gillislee, so he could struggle to see a significant amount of snaps early in the season barring any injuries higher up on the depth chart.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Titans' Derrick Henry: Scores against Raiders

Henry rushed 12 times for 49 yards and a touchdown, and caught one pass for eight yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders.

Henry's 49 yards led the Titans, but he didn't touch the ball until after DeMarco Murray exited the game with eight carries for 40 yards and a touchdown. While Murray is the team's starting running back and has been quite impressive this preseason, Henry also continued his success when called upon Saturday. His score from three yards out capped a 14-play, 85-yard drive with Tennessee's first-team offense, and through three preseason appearances, Henry has now rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries, giving him an average of 5.7 yards per tote. With numbers like those, Henry is clearly ready to contribute as a rookie, which along with Murray, could give the Titans a strong one-two running punch once the regular season kicks off.

  • Ronnie Hillman RB | DAL

Broncos' Ronnie Hillman: Runs for 45 yards, scores against Rams

Hillman totaled 45 yards and a touchdown off of just five carries in Saturday's win over Los Angeles.

Hillman has been written off in recent weeks under the assumption that he'll be the odd man out once final roster decisions are made. That might still be the case, but the speedster zig-zagged around the Rams' defensive front for an impressive nine yards per carry - his best performance of the preseason. He still faces stiff competition in Kapri Bibbs, a younger, cheaper player who offers more on special teams, but Hillman will likely have plenty of opportunities to prove that he's worth keeping around with the backups getting most of the reps against Arizona on Thursday.

  • C.J. Anderson RB | LAR

Broncos' C.J. Anderson: Rushes for 50 yards against Rams

Anderson carried the ball 11 times for 50 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Rams.

The Broncos ran the ball early and often against Los Angeles, eventually leading to big holes once the passing game opened up. Anderson remains firmly atop the depth chart as the preseason winds down, the top back in an offense that is sure to be run-heavy due to both coaching preference and to protect inexperience at quarterback. Anderson left the field during Saturday's game with a cut to his ear, but returned and should see some rest ahead of the regular season opener against Carolina.

  • Knile Davis RB | PIT

Chiefs' Knile Davis: Mediocre third preseason game

Davis carried the ball five times for just 14 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Bears.

Also notable is the fact that he didn't return kicks, with all signs now pointing to him missing the 53-man roster. Given the talent he's displayed in the past, it's possible another club will give him a shot if Davis indeed gets cut.

  • Charles Sims RB | TB

Buccaneers' Charles Sims: Totals 29 yards, TD in preseason victory

Sims totaled 13 yards on four carries and secured all three of his targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 30-13 preseason victory over the Browns.

The versatile tailback capped off a 12-play, 82-yard drive in the first quarter with a nifty three-yard touchdown reception where he worked his way free in the front of the end zone after Jameis Winston scrambled around and bought time on the play. Sims didn't get many touches otherwise, but figures to be a pivotal part of head coach Dirk Koetter's offense in his third pro season, particularly as a viable threat in the passing game in various formations and all over the field.

  • Eagles' Kenjon Barner: Effective in limited action Saturday versus Colts

Barner finished second on the team with 39 rushing yards on just six carries during Saturday's game versus the Colts.

Barner averaged a hefty 6.5 yards per carry, and he displayed his explosiveness with an impressive 25-yard scamper that was a crucial part of a touchdown drive in the third quarter. Barner has generated some buzz this offseason by averaging 6.1 yards per carry through three games, and although Darren Sproles was initially listed as the team's No. 2 back, Barner's name has been mentioned for the role in recent days. He will likely be given another chance to strut his stuff in Thursday's preseason finale versus the Jets.

  • Terrance West RB | BAL

Ravens' Terrance West: Adds to strong preseason

West gained 43 yards on seven carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions.

Justin Forsett and Kenneth Dixon (knee) got most of the first-team work, with West mixing in for a few snaps. After Dixon left the game with a knee injury shortly before halftime, West and Javorius Allen shared the backfield until late in the fourth quarter, with the latter gaining 15 yards on eight carries and 17 yards on four receptions. Justin Forsett seems to be locked in as the starter, but the Baltimore backfield is still difficult to assess, with Dixon, West and Allen all having a case to get touches. West could have a role Week 1 against the Bills, as he's arguably been the most impressive of the bunch this preseason, and Dixon may not even available.

  • Zach Zenner RB | NO

Lions' Zach Zenner: Gets just three carries

Zenner gained 13 yards on three carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.

With Stevan Ridley released earlier in the week, Zenner is all but assured of a spot on the final roster. The two players were competing for Detroit's power-back job, which could be similar to the role Joique Bell filled last season. It's still unclear how much of a threat Zenner poses to the workload of lead back Ameer Abdullah.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC

Lions' Ameer Abdullah: Makes preseason debut

Abdullah (shoulder) gained 16 yards on four carries and failed to haul in his lone target in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.

As expected, Abdullah started but played limited snaps in his first game action since last season, getting all of his touches during the first quarter. He did appear to have a 15-yard touchdown scamper on the first play of the second quarter, but it was called back due to a teammate's holding penalty. In addition to starting on offense, Abdullah may get some opportunities in the return game, though his role as the lead back could limit his special teams contributions to crucial situations. He resumed contact work in practice last week, and there's been no suggestion of any setback with his shoulder. Pass-catching specialist Theo Riddick and power back Zach Zenner round out the top three of the depth chart, with George Winn and Dwayne Washington competing for the final spot. While Riddick will undoubtedly be busy in the passing game, the extent of Zenner's involvement is unclear.
