Latavius Murray RB | BUF
Saints' Latavius Murray: Misses practice Thursday
Murray (undisclosed) didn't practice Thursday, Herbie Teope of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Per the report, it's not clear why Murray was absent, but it's possible the running back is simply getting a veteran rest day. When healthy, Murray is in line to serve as a complementary option behind the Saints' top back, Alvin Kamara.

James Williams RB | DET
James Williams: Let go by Indianopolis
Williams was waived by the Colts on Thursday.
Williams was signed by the Colts on Tuesday, so it was a short-lived stay with the team. The undrafted rookie out of Washington State will look to latch on elsewhere.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Vikings' Ameer Abdullah: Leaves practice Wednesday
Abdullah suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to leave practice Wednesday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The former first-round pick suffered the injury during 11-on-11 drills, and it's unclear how serious it is. Abdullah has been competing with Mike Boone and De'Angelo Henderson for the No. 3 role at the running back position, so he'll miss out on valuable reps. Expect the team to update his status in the coming days.

Brandon Wilds RB | JAC
Brandon Wilds: Waived by San Francisco
The 49ers waived Wilds on Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Wilds spend just over a week with San Francisco before parting ways with the team. The 26-year-old will look to latch on as a depth option and special-teams asset elsewhere in the league.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: May sit during regular season
Gordon's holdout is expected to continue into the regular season with contract extension talks not progressing as he had hoped, sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Gordon is reportedly keeping himself in football shape while training in Florida, so he shouldn't require much time to shake off the rust once he rejoins the Chargers. A return to Los Angeles doesn't seem imminent at this juncture, however, as both Gordon's representation and the Chargers haven't been able to find much common ground in contract discussions. The star running back is believed to be seeking a deal in the range of the top-three contracts among all running backs, which would include a salary of at least $13 million per season and $20 million in guarantees. The Chargers have expressed confidence in backups Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson in the event Gordon misses regular-season action.

Marlon Mack RB | ARI
Colts' Marlon Mack: Unlikely to play Saturday
Mack appears on track to sit out Saturday's preseason game against the Bears after coach Frank Reich indicated that most of the Colts' starters won't play in the contest,Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, it wasn't an easy call for Reich to make, but given that most of the Colts' key starters were in his system last season, the team appears ready to err on the side of caution this weekend. Franchise quarterback Andrew Luck (calf/ankle) was already set to miss the exhibition slate, which may influenced Reich's decision to rest Mack and the Colts' other core pieces.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Back after two missed practices
Edwards (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Edwards was held out of practice Sunday and Monday after taking two carries for 13 yards in last week's preseason win over the Packers. With Kenneth Dixon (knee) also back at practice Tuesday, the Ravens may have a healthy backfield for Thursday's game against the Eagles. Edwards, Dixon and Justice Hill are competing for snaps behind Mark Ingram.

Ronald Jones RB | DAL
Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Bothered by swollen knee
Jones has been dealing with swelling in his knee, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Jones appeared to hyperextend his left knee on the opening kickoff of Friday's preseason win over Miami, but he stayed in the game briefly to take two carries for seven yards. A return to practice Tuesday doesn't necessarily mean he'll play in Friday's exhibition against Cleveland, though it would at least represent a step in the right direction.

James Williams RB | DET
Colts' James Williams: Latches on with Colts
Williams signed a contract with Indianapolis on Tuesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Williams signed with the Chiefs after going undrafted out of Washington State in April, only to be released by the team in mid-June. The young running back will now have a chance to prove himself with the Colts in the second half of the preseason.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Preseason debut on tap
Jones (hamstring) will make his preseason debut Thursday against the Raiders, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. He's slated to play a series during the contest.
As far as daily purposes go, Jones likely won't be of much use if he only takes the field for one series Thursday, but it's a true sign the hamstring issue that plagues him early in camp is no longer lingering. He should serve as Green Bay's primary back again in 2019 and could see marked improvement on his 133 carries for 728 yards and eight touchdowns from a season ago if he can stay healthy for the full 16 games.
