Alexander Mattison RB | MIA
Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Solid in emergency duty
Mattison rushed four times for 22 yards and secured four of five targets for 51 yards in the Vikings' 37-30 loss to the Seahawks on Monday.
Mattison took on extra snaps after Dalvin Cook (shoulder) was forced from the contest, and the rookie finished tied for the team lead in receptions and second in receiving yardage for the night. Coach Mike Zimmer labeled Cook's injury as not serious in his postgame press conference, but if it proves severe enough to sideline the third-year back for a Week 14 tilt against the Lions, Mattison would be primed for a start versus Detroit's vulnerable defense.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Downplays injury
Cook, who left Monday's loss to Seattle after taking a hit to the chest/shoulder area in the third quarter, said he sat out the remainder of the game for precautionary reasons, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Cook added he'd be ready to play next week.
The running back indicated the blow landed on the same spot he'd sustained an injury to back in Week 11 against the Broncos, although the prior issue didn't force him off the field. Alexander Mattison took over and ended up with four carries for 22 yards, while Cook had nine carries for 29 yards and a touchdown before departing. He also added three receptions for 35 yards. While Cook is optimistic about his injury, check to see how he fares in practice this week.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Injury not considered serious
Cook's shoulder injury is not considered serious, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Cook finished the game with nine carries for 29 yards and a touchdown and three receptions (on four targets) for 35 additional yards before being sidelined in the third quarter. The third-year back will have a short week to fully recover before a Week 14 divisional battle against the Lions next Sunday.

Rashaad Penny RB | CAR
Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Explosive en route to two scores
Penny rushed 15 times for 74 yards and a touchdown and caught four of five targets for 33 yards and a score in Monday's 37-30 win over the Vikings.
Both of Seattle's primary running backs saw action on the first drive and looked explosive in the process, and Chris Carson finished the contest with 109 yards from scrimmage and a score of his own. While Carson garnered a majority of the rushes (23), he averaged 4.4 yards per carry compared to Penny's 4.9. Furthermore, Penny showcased intriguing pass-catching prowess with his best effort through the air since his NFL debut, when he hauled in four passes for 35 yards. While most game scripts don't allow two running backs to split a total of 38 rushes, there's little doubt that Penny has a role in this offense going forward. He'll look to continue his upward trajectory in Week 14 against the Rams.

Boston Scott RB | PIT
Eagles' Boston Scott: Confined to special teams in loss
Scott played no offensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Scott played exclusively on special teams in this one, seeing seven snaps there. With Jordan Howard (shoulder) out, it was the Miles Sanders show for Philadelphia.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Headed to locker room
Cook is headed to the locker room with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return to Monday's contest against the Seahawks, Ben Goessling of The Star Tribune reports.
Cook went straight back to the locker room after suffering a shoulder injury, as the play resulted in a fumble recovered by the Seahawks. Look for more updates to come as they are made available. In the meantime, it will be Alexander Mattison taking over as the top back with Ameer Abdullah and Mike Boone also active.
-
Chase Edmonds RB | WAS
Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: No snaps on offense Sunday
Edmonds played no offensive snaps and 13 plays on special teams during Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Rams.
Edmonds' role was far different than what it was prior to his three-game absence. primarily due to the presence of Kenyan Drake, who paced Cardinals running backs with 51 (of 64) snaps on offense and 15 touches. Meanwhile, David Johnson picked up the scraps (15 snaps and six touches). Without an injury or downturn in play from Drake or Johnson, Edmonds doesn't hold much sway in Arizona's offense.

Marlon Mack RB | ARI
Colts' Marlon Mack: Remains in 'monitoring' phase
Coach Frank Reich said Monday the Colts will "just monitor" Mack (hand) and "see how it (his recovery) goes" this week before determining whether or not he can return to action Sunday at Tampa Bay, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
The running back broke his right hand Week 12 versus the Jaguars and hasn't practiced or played in the interim. On Monday, Reich also mentioned Mack made "good progress" last week, but it remains to be seen if it was enough to be cleared for on-field work. Wednesday's injury report could give the first indication that a return is possible Week 14. If Mack doesn't play this weekend, Jordan Wilkins, Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Williams will share the workload out of the Colts' backfield yet again.

Darwin Thompson RB | LV
Chiefs' Darwin Thompson: Could see role expand
Coach Andy Reid suggested Monday that Thompson could be in line for additional playing time Week 14 against the Patriots with the statuses of Damien Williams (ribs) and Darrel Williams (hamstring) to be determined, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
With Damien inactive for the Chiefs' Week 13 win over the Raiders and Darrel exiting the contest early, Thompson picked up his most extensive playing time to date. The rookie played 24 of the Chiefs' 67 offensive snaps (36 percent), finishing with 44 yards and his first career touchdown on 11 carries. Should the two Williamses remain sidelined Week 14, the Chiefs could opt for a true timeshare with Thompson and LeSean McCoy, who also played 24 snaps versus Oakland and saw more passing-down work between the two backs.

Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: Expected back in Week 14
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that he's optimistic Breida (ankle) will be ready to play in the 49ers' Week 14 game versus the Saints, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
After turning in limited practices Wednesday through Friday, Breida looked to have a decent chance at returning to action ahead of Sunday's eventual 20-17 loss to the Ravens, but the 49ers ultimately kept him inactive for a third straight game. Based on Shanahan's comments Monday, it sounds like the 49ers may have just been taking a cautious approach with Breida, who should be closer to 100 percent healthy by the time next weekend arrives. Whenever he's cleared to play, Breida will join a backfield that has been fairly volatile all season in terms of week-to-week workload for all of its members. Tevin Coleman appeared to have emerged as the 49ers' preferred top back heading into Week 13, but he ultimately played just 10 snaps and received six touches in the loss to Baltimore, while Raheem Mostert (19 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown, two catches for eight yards) surprisingly worked as the lead option.
