  • Myles Gaskin RB | SEA

Dolphins' Myles Gaskin: Small role in win

Gaskin carried the ball twice for 20 yards during Sunday's 37-31 win over the Eagles. He also caught his only target for six yards.

Even after lead back Kalen Ballage (leg) was forced out of Sunday's game in the second quarter, Gaskin didn't garner a substantial workload. Instead, fellow rookie Patrick Laird took over Miami's backfield reps, rushing 10 times for five yards and a score and turning five targets into four catches for 43 yards. It appears as though Gaskin could remain in a reserve role even if Ballage is forced to miss significant time.

  • Patriots' Brandon Bolden: Logs 23 special teams snaps

Bolden was on the field for just one snap on offense in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Texans.

Bolden did see action on 23 special teams snaps Sunday and that's where he'll continue to make his biggest mark down the stretch, as long as fellow running backs Sony Michel, James White and Rex Burkhead are available.

  • Zach Zenner RB | NO

Zach Zenner: Let go by Arizona

The Cardinals waived Zenner on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Zenner became expendable to Arizona with Kenyan Drake, David Johnson and Chase Edmonds all back to full health. The 28-year-old running back will now be subject to waivers and look for a depth role elsewhere in the league.

  • Colts' Jonathan Williams: Benched in loss

Williams had just eight carries for 14 yards and one reception for 11 yards on one target in Sunday's loss to Tennessee. He did not have a carry in the second half.

Williams inexplicably took a back seat to Jordan Wilkins (11 carries for 47 yards) and Nyheim Hines (four carries for 22 yards and two receptions for 18 yards), even though he was coming off back-to-back 100-yard rushing performances. It's not clear if Williams was hurt, benched due to a disciplinary reason or just pulled for poor performance. His benching will make the Indy backfield usage uncertain until Marlon Mack is able to return from a broken hand.

  • Chiefs' Darwin Thompson: Steps up in battered backfield

Thompson carried the ball 11 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-9 rout of the Raiders.

The rookie saw his first extended action of the season and wound up leading the Chiefs in carries and rushing yards, as Damien Williams (ribs) was inactive and Darrel Williams (hamstring) exited the game early. Thompson's longest gain went for only nine yards, however, and even if both Williamses are sidelined next week, his lack of explosiveness could keep him in a timeshare with LeSean McCoy in a tough matchup with the Patriots' league-leading defense.

  • Royce Freeman RB | CHI

Broncos' Royce Freeman: Totals 24 scrimmage yards

Freeman carried five times for 11 yards and caught all four of his targets for an additional 13 yards during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers.

Freeman averaged just 2.2 yards per carry, and, although he received the third-most targets on the team, he finished with a meager 3.3 yards per catch. His long carry went for just five yards as he was held under 30 scrimmage yards for the third time in the last four games. Freeman's ability to make an impact in his current role is in serious question at the moment and he'll look to do more with his opportunities next Sunday against the Texans.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Makes history in loss

Jacobs carried the ball 17 times for 104 yards in Sunday's 40-9 loss to the Chiefs.

It's the fifth time this season the rookie has hit for triple-digit rushing yards, with all those performances coming in the last eight games. As a result of that surge, Jacobs passed 1,000 yards on the year in the first quarter Sunday, becoming the first rookie in Raiders history to reach that milestone. He'll look to keep rolling next week against the Titans.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Cardinals' Kenyan Drake: Ineffective against Rams

Drake carried the ball 13 times for 31 yards and caught two of five targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Rams.

The Cards were down 20-0 by halftime, forcing them to largely abandon the running game, but Drake wasn't able to make much impact as a receiver either. David Johnson worked his way back into the game plan in this one, getting six touches to Drake's 15, but he wasn't any more effective. Drake will face another tough test in Week 14 against a stingy Steelers defense that just held Nick Chubb under 80 scrimmage yards.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Forgotten man down stretch

Jones rushed just six times for eight yards in the Buccaneers' 28-11 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.

Jones ended up 11 carries behind backfield Peyton Barber in yet another confounding week of running back usage courtesy of coach Bruce Arians. The Buccaneers' head man explained in his postgame press conference that the disparity in the division of labor was due both to Barber finding success more consistently on the ground and Jones missing a blitz pickup at one point, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Therefore, it's difficult to draw too many lasting conclusions from Sunday's numbers, and Jones could well be back in a larger role in a Week 14 interconference battle versus the Colts.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

    Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Finds paydirt

Ekeler carried the ball nine times for 16 yards and also added four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Broncos.

Ekeler was once again a weapon in the passing game, taking a 30-yard wheel route to the house for the Chargers' first touchdown of the game. While Melvin Gordon was the featured back on the ground once again (20 carries, 99 yards), Ekeler still saw nine carries of his own, making it just the second time since Week 5 against the Broncos --- Gordon's de facto 2019 debut --- in which the third-year back saw seven or more carries. It's possible Ekeler could see a step back in receiving opportunities if reports by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com come to fruition, as the Chargers are evidently considering a change at quarterback thanks to the continual struggles of Philip Rivers. Still, it's already a career year for the 24-year-old, as he's on pace to shatter his total yardage (1,032) after already setting new high-water marks in receptions and total touchdowns.
