  • 49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Underwhelms in loss

Hasty rushed just four times for three yards and brought in both of his targets for 10 yards in the 49ers' 34-17 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. He also returned one kickoff for 21 yards.

Hasty was set to share backfield duties with Jerick McKinnon in what was assumed to be a more even split, but ultimately, the latter logged eight more carries. Hasty had seen no fewer than nine rush attempts in the three games prior to Thursday's, so the downturn in his opportunities against Green Bay's vulnerable rush defense was especially discouraging. Hasty will hope to garner more total touches in a Week 10 battle against the Saints in 10 days if both Raheem Mostert (IR-ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) remain out for that contest.

  • 49ers' Jerick McKinnon: Compiles 98 all-purpose yards

McKinnon rushed 12 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of four targets for 16 yards in the 49ers' 34-17 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. He also returned one kickoff for 30 yards.

McKinnon led the backfield in rushes with Raheem Mostert (IR-ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) both out, posting his highest carry total since Week 4. The seven-year pro had totaled just 13 rush attempts combined over the previous four games, so Thursday's boost in workload was certainly encouraging from a fantasy perspective. McKinnon now also has five rushing touchdowns on the campaign, and he'll have a chance to add to that total in a touch matchup against the Saints in a Week 10 battle on Sunday, Nov. 15.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Posts 79 total yards in return

Jones (calf) rushed 15 times for 58 yards and secured all five targets for an additional 21 yards in the Packers' 34-17 win over the 49ers on Thursday night.

Jones was able to make it through pregame workouts without issue, setting the stage for his return from a two-game absence on a night the Packers were without Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon for COVID-related reasons. Jones paced the backfield in carries, but Tyler Ervin did complement him nicely with eight attempts as game script allowed Green Bay to keep the star running back's workload lighter than usual. Jones now has the luxury of a few extra days of rest ahead of a very favorable Week 10 matchup against the Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 15.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Seahawks' Travis Homer: Upgraded to limited in practice

Homer (knee) logged a limited practice session Thursday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Coach Pete Carroll had alluded to this as a possibility during his media session Wednesday, stating that he believed Homer would prove capable of suiting up for the Seahawks' Week 9 road trip to Buffalo. The running back's improvement to limited availability provides the first step towards making his coach's prediction come true, though his usage may be extremely limited if Chris Carson (foot) makes his return from a one-game absence. Homer fought through injury to suit up Week 8 against the 49ers, though he only notched one carry on seven offensive snaps as DeeJay Dallas shouldered most of the RB workload.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Cardinals' Kenyan Drake: DNP on Thursday

    Drake (ankle) didn't practice Thursday.

For a second consecutive day, Drake wasn't with his teammates on the practice field as he tends to a slight tear of a ligament in his ankle. He may be just one DNP away from the Cardinals ruling him out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but ultimately Friday's injury report will have the final say. If Drake is unable to suit up Week 9, Chase Edmonds will be Arizona's lead back, with Jonathan Ward and Eno Benjamin on hand for any reps that linger.

  • J.J. Taylor RB | HOU

Patriots' J.J. Taylor: Misses Thursday's practice

Taylor (illness) was a non-participant during the Patriots' practice session Thursday, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.

In what constituted New England's longest injury report of the season Thursday, Taylor was among the 17 players who had limited or no availability at practice. The rookie out of Arizona State has not logged a game appearance for the Patriots since Week 3, though this update marks his first reported injury or illness-related absence of 2020.

  • Aaron Jones RB | MIN

Packers' Aaron Jones: Returning to action Thursday

Jones (calf) is listed as active Thursday at San Francisco.

As expected, Jones has done enough to show the Packers that he can play through his calf injury. With AJ Dillon (illness) and Jamaal Williams (not injury related) unavailable due to residing on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Jones should be in the mix for touches out of Green Bay's backfield. That said, Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams are healthy and available, so Jones may merely be an emergency option Thursday.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Misses practice Thursday

    Jacobs (knee/Illness) didn't practice Thursday.

Jacobs was listed as a full participant Wednesday, though he appeared on the Raiders' injury report with a listed knee issue. Per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com, the running back missed Thursday's session due to an illness. We'll circle back on Jacobs' status no later than Friday's practice to determine whether his status for Sunday's game against the Chargers is in any danger.

  • 49ers' Jerick McKinnon: Sharing work with Hasty in Week 9

McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty are expected to share the load at running back Thursday against the Packers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area reports.

With Tevin Coleman (knee) exiting early in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, McKinnon and Hasty finished the contest as the 49ers' only healthy backs. McKinnon held a 35-29 advantage in snaps, but he was largely relegated to a passing-down role, carrying three times for minus-1 yard and a touchdown while adding four receptions for 40 yards on four targets. Meanwhile, Hasty was the clear lead option on the ground, carrying 12 times (for 29 yards and a touchdown). The 49ers have ruled Coleman out for Thursday's game while Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) remain on injured reserve, so another McKinnon and Hasty timeshare should be on tap Week 9.

  • 49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Sharing work with McKinnon on TNF

Hasty and Jerick McKinnon are expected to share the load at running back Thursday against the Packers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area reports.

With Tevin Coleman (knee) exiting early in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, Hasty and McKinnon finished the contest as the 49ers' only healthy backs. McKinnon held a 35-29 advantage in snaps, but Hasty was the clear lead option on the ground, carrying 12 times (for 29 yards and a touchdown) to McKinnon's three (for minus-1 yard and a touchdown). The 49ers have ruled Coleman out for Thursday's game while Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) remain on injured reserve, so another Hasty and McKinnon timeshare should be on tap Week 9. Unless the 49ers fall behind big early and are forced into catchup mode, Hasty is a good bet to earn double-digit carries for the second week in a row.
