Mike Boone RB | MIA
Texans' Mike Boone: Signing with Texans
The Texans are slated to sign Boone, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
Boone, who logged 24 carries for 102 yards and nine catches for 96 yards on 15 targets in nine games with the Broncos in 2022, finished up the season on IR, but he now should be past the ankle issue that landed him there. With the Texans, the 27-year-old is in line to work as a backup to 2022 fourth-rounder Dameon Pierce (ankle).

Austin Ekeler RB | WAS
Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Reportedly seeking trade
Ekeler is reportedly seeking permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Schefter suggests that the star running back's reported request stems from a lack of progress in discussions regarding a potential contract extension between the Chargers and Ekeler. It remains to be seen if the team is amenable to moving Ekeler, but under the current terms of his deal with the team, the 27-year-old is due $6.25 million in 2023, the final year of his deal with Los Angeles, per Schefter.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Accepts reduced salary
Edwards and the Ravens have agreed to a reworked contract that reduces his 2023 salary by about $1 million but gives him the opportunity to earn the money back via incentives, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
With his base salary dropping from $4.38 million to less than $3.5 million, Edwards likely will avoid being a cap casualty and play at least one more season for the only NFL team he's known. Injuries limited him to nine games last year after he missed all of 2021 with an ACL tear, but Edwards remained efficient on a per-carry basis with just a hair under 5.0 YPC (4.98). He turns 28 in April and has a good chance to keep the No. 2 RB job behind J.K. Dobbins, who also missed 2021 with an ACL tear and ultimately played fewer than 10 games in 2022.

Craig Reynolds RB | NE
Lions' Craig Reynolds: Signs new deal with Detroit
Reynolds and the Lions agreed to a contract Monday.
The exact details of the deal are unknown, but Reynolds will be returning to Detroit for a third season in 2023. The running back appeared in nine games with the Lions last season, recording 102 rushing yards on 23 carries while also reeling in nine catches for 116 yards. With D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams both likely to still be on the team next season, there isn't a clear path for Reynolds to see an increase in usage.

Chase Edmonds RB | WAS
Chase Edmonds: Being let go by Broncos
The Broncos are slated to release Edmonds, Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network report.
Per Schefter, releasing Edmonds will free up $5.92 million in salary cap space for the Broncos. In 13 games (eight with Miami and five with Denver) this past season, Edmonds carried 68 times for 245 yards and two touchdowns while adding 16 catches for 157 yards and a receiving score. The 26-year-old will now look to catch on with another team in need of backfield help ahead of the 2023 NFL campaign.

Ronald Jones RB | DAL
Chiefs' Ronald Jones: Minimal impact in 2022
Jones rushed 17 times for 70 yards and a touchdown and reeled in his lone target for another 22 yards over six games during the 2022 regular season.
Jones joined the Chiefs after his rookie contract expired with the Buccaneers following 2021, and he was unable to claim a sizable role after signing with Kansas City. Jones was on just a one-year deal, so he'll head into the offseason set to hit free agency again.

Salvon Ahmed RB | CHI
Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Staying put in Miami
The Dolphins signed Ahmed to a one-year, $1.8 million contract Friday, Mike Masala of DolphinsWire reports.
Ahmed is slated to remain in Miami for at least one more season while fellow running backs Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and Myles Gaskin are all in line to become unrestricted free agents come March 15. The 24-year-old has primarily operated as a part of a backfield committee throughout his first three years in the NFL, and he concluded this previous campaign with 21 touches for 120 combined rushing and receiving yards and one touchdown across 13 games.

James Robinson RB | NO
James Robinson: Won't receive contract tender
The Jets are not on line to extend a contract tender to Robinson, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
After coming over from Jacksonville in an October trade, Robinson didn't make much of an impact with his new team, finishing the 2022 season with 110 carries for 425 yards and three touchdowns while adding 11 catches for 51 yards and a pair of receiving scores in 11 games split between the Jaguars and Jets. Now that he's further removed from an Achilles injury that he sustained in Week 16 of the 2021 season, the 24-year-old looming free agent will now have an opportunity to bolster another team's backfield.
-
Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Reportedly getting trade interest
The Vikings have received a trade offer for Cook (shoulder), according to SKOR North's Darren Wolfson.
The report didn't name the team offering the deal nor the return for the Cook in such a scenario. However, trade talk around Cook makes sense given that he will count $8 million toward the cap next season and Minnesota is about $15 million over the salary cap. The report says Cook does not want to take a pay cut. Cook underwent shoulder surgery in February which guaranteed $2 million in his salary for next season due to injury. The injury could affect his availability for the start of OTAs, but he's expected to be ready for the start of the coming season.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Raiders' Ameer Abdullah: Returns to Vegas on one-year deal
The Raiders re-signed Abdullah to a one-year contract Thursday, KPRC 2 Houston's Aaron Wilson reports.
Abdullah appeared in all 17 games for the Raiders last season as a lightly-used change-of-pace back and pass-catching specialist behind Josh Jacobs. He averaged just 10.3 offensive snaps per game and rushed four times for 20 yards, adding 25 catches for 211 yards and one touchdown. Abdullah will try and fill the same role again in 2023.
