  • Nick Chubb RB | HOU

Browns' Nick Chubb: Not in line to face Eagles

Chubb isn't slated to play in Thursday's preseason contest against the Eagles.

With Chubb and fellow RB Jerome Ford (hamstring) among the Browns' key players not in line to see action Thursday, Demetric Felton, John Kelly, Hassan Hall and Jordan Wilkins are available to log carries. Chubb's final opportunity to see preseason work arrives on Saturday, Aug. 26 against the Chiefs.

  • Dameon Pierce RB | PHI

Texans' Dameon Pierce: On track to play Saturday

Pierce expects to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Pierce didn't play in last Thursday's preseason opener against the Patriots, but it appears as though the 2022 fourth-rounder will log some playing time this weekend. As the coming season approaches, Pierce is poised to continue to head a Texans backfield that also includes veteran newcomer Devin Singletary, as well as Mike Boone, Dare Ogunbowale and Gerrid Doaks.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Logs full practice Thursday

Coach Pete Carroll said Walker (groin) participated fully at Thursday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Walker has been dealing with a minor groin strain since the first day of training camp. After returning to practice this past Saturday, he was spotted working in individual and blocking drills Wednesday, but team drills weren't on the docket for him until Thursday, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle. It's unclear if the Seahawks will clear Walker to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, but such a decision may not beome known until shortly before the 10:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Kene Nwangwu RB | NYJ

Vikings' Kene Nwangwu: Still not practicing

Nwangwu (undisclosed) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

There's been no update on Nwangwu's status, as he's been sidelined for most of training camp. With Ty Chandler performing well in the preseason opener and stringing together strong practices, Nwangwu might be losing any shot he had at the Vikings' No. 2 running back job.

  • Patriots' Ezekiel Elliott: Works in team drills Thursday

Elliott was a full participant in team drills during Thursday's practice, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.

Per Lazar, Elliott looked like his old self Thursday, making his mark with impressive TD runs (from eight and two yards out) in red-zone drills. Though Elliott is projected to work behind returning lead back Rhamondre Stevenson this coming season, the former Cowboy figures to see his share of snaps and touches out of the Patriots backfield, where his ability in pass protection and in short-yardage situations should be welcome additions to the team's ground game.

  • Patriots' Pierre Strong: Remains sidelined

Strong (undisclosed) didn't practice Thursday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Ty Montgomery (leg) also continued to miss practice Thursday, which likely means the duo won't suit up for Saturday's preseason game against the Packers. Once Strong is back on the practice field, he'll look to secure a change-of-pace role in a New England backfield that is slated to be led by the one-two punch of Rhamondre Stevenson and newcomer Ezekiel Elliott.

  • Wayne Taulapapa: Waived by Seattle

The Seahawks waived Taulapapa on Thursday.

The undrafted rookie out of Washington played eight offensive snaps in the preseason opener, rushing one time for three yards. He also caught both of his targets for nine yards. Taulapapa will look for an opportunity elsewhere.

  • Broncos' Javonte Williams: To see 10-12 snaps

Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Williams will handle 10-12 plays during Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Payton said he wants Williams to handle three to four carries, per Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site, a solid workload if his snap count indeed barely reaches double digits. Williams is in the final stages of what has been an impressive recovery from ACL surgery, though in his first game action Saturday he's set to play less snaps than the rest of Denver's starters.

  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Back on the field

Miller (knee) was present for Thursday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.

Per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, Miller participated in individual drills during the session, and while it's unclear if the running back will be available for Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers, his presence on the field Thursday supports the notion that the right knee sprain he sustained last weekend is a minor issue. Once Miller is back at full strength, he'll look to cement an early-season role in the Saints backfield alongside Jamaal Williams, who figures to serve as the team's lead back during Alvin Kamara's looming three-game suspension to start the 2023 campaign.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Found not guilty of aggravated menacing

Mixon was found not guilty of aggravated menacing in a Hamilton County (Ohio) court ruling Thursday, Ben Baby of ESPN reports.

Per the report, municipal judge Gwen Bender indicated that city prosecutors failed to present enough evidence to prove the aggravated menacing charge stemming from an alleged road rage incident that took place on Jan. 21. In a statement released by the team Thursday, the Bengals noted "the organization is pleased that this matter is now behind everyone...and we look forward to an exciting season with Joe being an important part of the football team." As the coming season approaches, Mixon is slated to lead a Cincinnati backfield that also includes Trayveon Williams (ankle), Chase Brown and Chris Evans.
