  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Gets first opportunity again

Edwards-Helaire carried the ball one time for minus-3 yards in Saturday's 33-32 preseason win over the Browns.

Edwards-Helaire was the first back on the field and got a carry on Kansas City's first offensive play. That was his only opportunity, though it was still noteworthy given that both Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco also suited up and took the field. All three backs mixed in on the Chiefs' opening possession, suggesting that the backfield could be a rotation to begin the regular season.

  • Chris Evans RB | CIN

Bengals' Chris Evans: Likely dealing with injury

Evans didn't practice last week and isn't in uniform for Saturday's preseason finale against Washington, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Recent reports hint at Evans getting most of the third-down snaps, but he's seemingly now suffered an injury to close out the preseason. He'll have two weeks to get healthy before a Week 1 trip to Cleveland, and he may have a role on offense if only because the other reserve RBs failed to step up this summer.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Not playing Saturday

Wilson (undisclosed) is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason finale against Jacksonville, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Wilson left practice early Aug. 9 and missed all three weeks of the preseason. He and De'Von Achane (shoulder) both appear uncertain for Week 1, which opens the door for Salvon Ahmed, Myles Gaskin or Chris Brooks to get a spot on the initial regular-season roster.

  • Isiah Pacheco RB | DET

Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Makes preseason debut

Pacheco carried the ball one time for zero yards in Saturday's 33-32 preseason win over the Browns.

Pacheco was cleared for contact Monday after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and was able to make his preseason debut five days later. He was the third back on the field behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon, though all three played on the team's first offensive possession. It appears that Pacheco will be healthy heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Lions, though he may be a part of a rotation that also involves Edwards-Helaire and McKinnon.

  • Packers' Patrick Taylor: Effective in final exhibition

Taylor had six carries for 24 yards and one reception for eight yards in Saturday's 19-15 preseason victory over the Seahawks.

Taylor was the third Packers running back to enter Saturday's contest, so it's possible he has fallen behind fellow running back Emanuel Wilson on the depth chart. However, Green Bay may have simply wanted to give Wilson some work with the first team. The two are the frontrunners to be Green Bay's No. 3 running back, though neither is guaranteed a roster spot, as the Packers broke camp with only two active running backs in 2022.

  • Jordan Mason RB | MIN

49ers' Jordan Mason: Has foot sprain

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Mason has a sprained foot but is considered day-to-day, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.

The 49ers backfield has had its share of injuries during training camp and the preseason, with Elijah Mitchell missing significant time with an adductor strain and Jeremy McNichols dealing with a hamstring issue. Now, one of the competitors for the No. 3 spot behind Christian McCaffrey and Mitchell is tending to a health concern. San Francisco likely will keep four running backs on its final 53-man roster following cut-down day Tuesday, while Mason could be sidelined in the short term with the aim to be healthy by Week 1.

  • Emanuel Wilson RB | SEA

Packers' Emanuel Wilson: Another busy appearance

Wilson had 17 carries for 49 yards and two receptions for nine yards in Saturday's 19-15 preseason victory over the Seahawks.

Wilson racked up 17 touches in Green Bay's second exhibition contest, and he tallied 19 more in the finale. Wilson was the second running back into Saturday's game and wound up rushing for 223 yards over three preseason appearances. However, 80 of those came on one play and he averaged 3.9 YPC on his other 37 totes, so it remains to be seen if he did enough to sew up a spot on the roster for Week 1.

  • Nate McCrary RB | GB

Packers' Nate McCrary: Finds paydirt Saturday

McCrary had seven carries for 24 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 19-15 preseason victory over the Seahawks.

McCrary saw work Saturday after not taking the field in Green Bay's second exhibition contest, and he wound up scoring the touchdown that gave the Packers the win. Although McCrary ended the preseason on a high note, he almost certainly finds himself on the outside looking in when final cuts are made.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Makes brief appearance

Charbonnet took three carries for one yard and one catch for six yards in Saturday's preseason-closing loss to the Packers.

Charbonnet got the start with the Seahawks resting most of their usual starters, including RB Kenneth Walker. The rookie Charbonnet was done for the day after taking four touches on the first two drives, giving way to DeeJay Dallas and then SaRodorick Thompson. Charbonnet played in all three games this preseason and took 10 carries for 45 yards, adding four catches for 21 yards on four targets. He should be the No. 2 back Week 1 against Los Angeles, though the extent of his role behind Walker is unclear.

  • Damien Harris RB | BUF

Bills' Damien Harris: Scores TD with starters

Harris took seven carries for 25 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason finale at Chicago.

Harris scored a two-yard TD on his first carry to finish out the opening drive, but only after James Cook already had four carries for 18 yards. Cook played one more series after that, with Harris then playing through much of the second quarter. It was a decent showing, but it might not be the best sign for Harris that fellow RB Latavius Murray was rested after working as the No. 2 back the two weeks prior (albeit with Harris sidelined by a minor knee injury). Both are candidates to handle the No. 2 role behind Cook in a Week 1 matchup with the Jets, and it's even possible the Bills split snaps between all three.
