  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Pro debut delayed

Miller (hamstring) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Titans, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Miller thus won't be available for the first outing of Alvin Kamara's ongoing three-game suspension to start the season, as the rookie third-round pick is dealing with a hamstring injury. Instead, the Saints will turn to Jamaal Williams to lead the backfield in the meantime, with Kirk Merritt and Tony Jones on hand for any RB reps that linger. Miller will aim to get back on the practice field for the first time since late August during Week 2 prep.

  • Zack Moss RB | CIN

Colts' Zack Moss: Inactive for Week 1

Moss (forearm) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

The Colts downgraded Moss (who is bouncing back from a broken arm) to doubtful Saturday, so it's not surprising to see him sit this one out. In his absence, Deon Jackson is a candidate to head the team's Week 1 backfield, with rookie Evan Hull on hand to work in a complementary role and practice squad elevation Jake Funk in reserve. Moss was able to practice in a limited fashion this past week, which would appear to make a potential return to action on his part next weekend against the Texans plausible.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Could see increased work behind Harris

While Najee Harris profiles as the Steelers' starting RB and is on track to see his share of early-down work Sunday against the 49ers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that Warren is also to expected to factor in on early downs as well as third-down situations.

Harris logged 272 carries (to Warren's 77) in 17 games last season, but Rapoport indicates that the Steelers may be inclined to lessen their starter's workload to some degree in 2023. If that transpires and Warren does end up absorbing extra touches, he'll have a chance to gain fantasy lineup utility in deeper formats this coming season.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Jets' Dalvin Cook: Still likely to lead backfield Monday

Cook is still expected to see the "bulk of the carries" out of the Jets backfield Monday against Buffalo and for the early part of the season, even though Breece Hall (knee) is set to be available Week 1, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Hall suffered a torn ACL and meniscus last October but seems to have had a relatively seamless recovery. Though Hall will take a questionable designation into Week 1, he's in line to be active for the contest after turning in a full practice Saturday. The Jets ultimately envision Hall stepping back in as their No. 1 back, but Cook -- who signed a one-year, $7 million deal with New York last month -- is set to lead the backfield early on as Hall is eased back in from knee surgery. Though the presence of Hall puts a ceiling on Cook's potential fantasy production, the former Vikings standout should see enough touches to be a useful RB2 or flex option in the majority of fantasy leagues until Hall is ready to handle a more sizable role.

  • Salvon Ahmed RB | CHI

Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Should be clear top backup Week 1

Ahmed is slated to serve as the Dolphins' No. 2 running back for Sunday's game against the Chargers with Miami likely to make rookie De'Von Achane inactive for the contest, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Achane was a full participant in practice throughout the week but apparently still needs more time to heal up from the shoulder injury he sustained in an Aug. 19 preseason game against the Texans, so the Dolphins will delay the rookie third-round pick's NFL debut. Though Ahmed had already been listed ahead of Achane on the depth chart, the latter's absence for Week 1 clears up any lingering concern about which of the two might work as the primary backup to starting running back Raheem Mostert. Pelissero relays that Mostert and Ahmed will "carry the load" for the Dolphins on Sunday, while Miami may also keep undrafted rookie Chris Brooks active as a third option out of the backfield.

  • De'Von Achane RB | MIA

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Set for Week 1 inactive list

The Dolphins are expected to make Achane inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The rookie third-round pick out of Texas A&M doesn't approach the season opener with an injury designation after putting in full practices Wednesday through Friday, but the Dolphins will push back his NFL debut at least one week after Achane missed extensive time in the preseason after injuring his shoulder in an Aug. 19 exhibition against the Texans. With Achane on the sideline for Week 1, Salvon Ahmed should be locked in as the clear top backup to starting running back Raheem Mostert.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Could be ready to play Week 5

Taylor (ankle) could pass a physical as soon as Sunday and is planning to return to action when first eligible to return from the PUP list Week 5 against the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Indianapolis placed Taylor on its PUP list Aug. 29 after he missed time in camp while healing from January surgery on his right ankle. About a month before landing on the PUP list, Taylor put in a request to be moved elsewhere and was eventually granted permission to pursue a deal, but the Colts weren't able to find another team willing to meet their high asking price in a trade for the running back. Though Taylor's relationship with the Colts still remains on shaky ground, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that the 24-year-old is "training hard" as he works his way back from ankle surgery, and there remains a "slim, but possible" chance that he returns to play for Indianapolis when activated. According to Rapoport, Taylor would likely need a contract extension before suiting up for the Colts, something that Indianapolis has not yet been willing to offer. The Colts will most likely continue to engage with teams in trade talks over the next four weeks, assuming Taylor passes his physical and the reports regarding his recovery from the ankle injury remain promising.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Expected to suit up vs. Eagles

Stevenson (illness) remains listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Stevenson was handed the questionable tag after an illness caused him to miss practice Friday, but he returned to team meetings Saturday. Assuming he's officially cleared when the Patriots release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the game's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, Stevenson will work atop New England's backfield alongside newcomer Ezekiel Elliott. The Patriots are expected to be without one of their starting wideouts in DeVante Parker (knee), so Stevenson could be one of several players relied upon to absorb some of the vacated target volume.

  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Likely out Week 1

Miller (hamstring) is listed as questionable but is not expected to play in Sunday's game against the Titans, John Sigler of USA Today reports.

The Saints may have shown their hand in terms of Miller's status earlier Saturday, when they elevated Tony Jones from the practice squad to the active roster for more running back depth. Assuming Miller is inactive when the Saints release their list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, New Orleans will be left with Jamaal Williams, Kirk Merritt and Jones as its available running backs. Williams should dominate the work on the ground and could have more involvement as a pass catcher out of necessity, as the Saints are also without Alvin Kamara (suspension) for the first three games of the season. Quarterback Taysom Hill could also have an expanded role in the Saints' running attack.

  • Taiwan Jones RB | NYG

Giants' Taiwan Jones: Up from practice squad

The Giants elevated Jones from the practice squad to their active roster Saturday.

Jones signed with the Giants' practice squad Aug. 31 after he spent the last three seasons with the Bills. He could see some playing time on special teams for the season opener Sunday against the Cowboys.
