  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: Limited to side work Friday

Purdy (toe) is doing side work Friday but still isn't practicing, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Second-string quarterback Mac Jones (knee/oblique) was taking snaps and throwing passes at the start of Friday's practice, after not doing much throwing during Thursday's session (he was listed as limited). The 49ers haven't ruled Purdy out for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, but Jones seems to be preparing for the start.

  • Browns' Shedeur Sanders: Named backup for Week 6

Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Friday that Sanders will back up Dillon Gabriel against the Steelers on Sunday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Sanders will take on the top backup role after the Browns traded Joe Flacco to the Bengals on Tuesday. Cleveland will go with a pair of rookies as options under center on their game-day roster while Bailey Zappe remains on the practice squad. Sanders has yet to throw a regular-season pass in the NFL but could get an opportunity if Gabriel struggles or gets hurt.

  • Kyler Murray QB | ARI

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Returns to practice

Murray (foot) is returning to practice Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters that Murray's availability for Sunday against the Colts will be based on the QB's progress over the next couple of days. A return to practice is at least a step in the right direction.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Not practicing Friday

Jackson (hamstring) isn't practicing Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

With Jackson in line to log his third straight DNP this week, the star QB is trending toward missing Sunday's game against the Rams. Such an outcome could be solidified once Friday's final injury report is posted, and in that event Cooper Rush would be slated to handle another starting turn for the Ravens this weekend before they head into a Week 7 bye.

  • Jaxson Dart QB | NYG

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Two total TDs in upset win

Dart completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while adding 13 carries for 58 yards and another score during the Giants' 34-17 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.

Dart recorded the first signature win of his nascent career with a standout, mistake-free performance. The dynamic rookie got off to a blistering start by helping lead two first-quarter touchdown drives, possessions he capped off with a 20-yard scoring run and a 35-yard strike to Wan'Dale Robinson. Dart went on to lead three more scoring drives in the upset, and he navigated a brief third-quarter exit to be checked for a concussion to finish out the upset victory without incident. Dart has already shown considerable promise in his first three starts while recording a pair of victories in the process. but he'll get quite the test in a Week 7 road matchup against the Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 19.

  • Jalen Hurts QB | PHI

Eagles' Jalen Hurts: Solid numbers in shocking loss

Hurts completed 24 of 33 passes for 283 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding seven rushes for 13 yards and another score in the Eagles' 34-17 loss to the Giants on Thursday night.

Hurts and the Eagles offense had a productive first quarter when they netted 10 points as a unit, and the reigning Super Bowl MVP connected with Dallas Goedert from three yards out late in the period for six of those. Hurts would add a one-yard touchdown run at just under the seven-minute mark of the second quarter, and that would surprisingly be the end of the scoring on the night for Philadelphia. Hurts exceeded 30 pass attempts for a second consecutive contest for the first time this season, and he averaged a season-best 8.6 yards per attempt Thursday while connecting with six different targets. The sixth-year pro's one interception also was very costly, however, as it came at the Giants' nine-yard line early in the fourth quarter with the Eagles down 10 and was returned all the way to Philadelphia's 23-yard line to set up the New York's game-clinching touchdown. Hurts has hit or exceeded 280 passing yards in each of the last two games heading into a Week 7 road showdown against the Vikings on Sunday, Oct. 19.

  • Jaxson Dart QB | NYG

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Quickly clears protocol

Dart cleared concussion protocol and will return to Thursday's game against the Eagles, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Dart was hit in the head and shoulder area while attempting to escape pressure late in the third quarter. He was evaluated for a concussion and cleared, and he returned to the game after missing only a couple of offensive plays.

  • Jaxson Dart QB | NYG

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Being examined in medical tent

Dart exited Thursday's game against the Eagles with an apparent upper-body injury, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Dart was attempting to escape pressure late in the third quarter and suffered a series of hard hits to his head and shoulder area. He ran off the field under his own power but straight into the medical tent. Russell Wilson replaced him to complete the drive, though Dart was spotted with his helmet on the sideline during the Eagles' next offensive possession.

  • Jameis Winston QB | NYG

Giants' Jameis Winston: Operating as No. 3 QB in Week 6

Winston (coach's decision) is inactive but available as New York's emergency third quarterback Thursday night against the Eagles, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Winston will continue to operate as New York's No. 3 option at quarterback in Week 6. The 31-year-old will only be eligible to play if both Jaxson Dart and Russell Wilson are forced to exit early.

  • Sam Howell QB | PHI

Eagles' Sam Howell: Operating as emergency QB

Howell (coach's decision) is inactive but available as Philadelphia's emergency third quarterback Thursday night versus New York.

Howell will once again operate as the No. 3 quarterback in Week 6, and he'll only be eligible to enter the game if both Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee go down with injuries. Howell has yet to appear in a regular-season game since being traded to Philadelphia in August.
