  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Works three series

Allen completed seven of 10 passes for 64 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 27-15 preseason loss to the Steelers. He rushed the ball once for minus-6 yards.

Allen played three offensive series in his 2023 preseason debut, and he led one sustained drive with a few lengthy completions to Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Otherwise, it was a forgettable performance for the veteran quarterback. Of course, given Allen's track record, this performance is hardly a concern, and his focus likely will turn to a Week 1 matchup against the Jets.

  • Kyle Trask QB | TB

Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: Impresses with extended action

Trask completed 20 of 28 passes for 218 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed four times for seven yards in the Buccaneers' 13-6 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Tampa Bay.

Trask drew the start after coming in behind Baker Mayfield in the Buccaneers' preseason opener against the Steelers, and he ultimately played much more than planned Saturday due to the neck injury suffered by John Wolford. The second-year signal-caller's night didn't start off in ideal fashion by any stretch when Tampa Bay was forced to punt on its first two possessions, with Trask losing his grip on the ball due to the sack that ended the latter drive. However, matters picked up from there, as he subsequently connected with rookie Trey Palmer for a nifty 33-yard touchdown that the receiver helped tip to himself. Trask finished the first half with a 16-for-23, 122-yard tally. That wouldn't be the end of his night, however, as Wolford's late third-quarter injury brought Trask back into the contest and allowed him to finish with a very strong line overall. With both he and Mayfield having impressed to varying degrees in each of the first two preseason games, the job battle may come down to this week's set of practices and next Saturday night's home preseason finale versus the Ravens.

  • John Wolford QB | MIN

Buccaneers' John Wolford: Injures neck Saturday

Wolford suffered a neck injury during Sunday's preseason contest at the Jets, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

After Kyle Trask handled quarterback duties for the Buccaneers for the entire first half, Wolford was the next QB to get the call instead of Baker Mayfield. While directing the offense in the third quarter, Wolford had his helmet driven into the ground on a sack, which left him down on the field for a spell. He was placed on a backboard and needed a cart to get off the field, but fortunately the team announced that he has movement on all of his extremities and will visit a local hospital for further evaluation.

  • Matt Barkley QB | JAC

Bills' Matt Barkley: Injures elbow Saturday

Barkley suffered an elbow injury to his throwing arm in Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.

After completing 14 of 15 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in last week's preseason date against the Colts, Barkley was much worse Saturday. He went seven of 12 for 93 yards and three interceptions versus Pittsburgh before leaving with the injury. Barkley is competing for a backup job behind Josh Allen.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Seahawks' Geno Smith: Slated to play Saturday

GM John Schneider said that Smith is in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

The Seahawks held Smith out of their exhibition opener last Thursday, but it appears he and the rest of the team's healthy starters will get a dress rehearsal before Week 1. As Seattle's No. 1 quarterback in 2022, he completed 70 percent his passes for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions en route to NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.

  • Lions' Teddy Bridgewater: Shaky in Lions debut

Bridgewater completed five of his 11 pass attempts for 34 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in Saturday's 25-7 preseason loss to the Jaguars.

Jared Goff sat out the game, leaving Bridgewater with the start. He led six offensive possessions but couldn't move the ball much while leading zero scoring drives. It was a lackluster debut for Bridgwater in Detroit, but he'll remain one of the better backup options around the league in 2023.

  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: In line to play Satuday

Purdy appears as if he'll play in Saturday's preseason contest versus the Broncos, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Purdy took the field for warmups in pads with many of the 49ers starters, but not among them were running backs Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell (hip), per Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Still, Purdy should have top wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk to throw to Saturday.

  • C.J. Stroud QB | HOU

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Starts first half Saturday

Stroud completed seven of his 12 pass attempts for 60 yards and no touchdowns or turnovers in Saturday's preseason loss to Miami.

Stroud got to play the entire first half in his second preseason start while incumbent Davis Mills (10-for-22, 94 yards) entered after halftime, all but confirming that the former will start under center for Houston. The second-overall pick from this year's draft did not post a gaudy line, but it was a marked improvement over his first start where he completed just two passes while throwing a pick. Stroud will now attempt the difficult ask of developing as a rookie starter -- with a rookie head coach -- while running an offense that was putrid prior to his arrival.

  • Jordan Love QB | GB

Packers' Jordan Love: Suiting up Saturday

Love is in line to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Patriots, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

After completing seven of 10 passes for 46 yards and one touchdown in Green Bay's exhibition opener last Friday at Cincinnati, Love will get some more work as he prepares for his first season as the team's starting signal-caller. Expect Love to have his full complement of skill-position talent for a handful of series Saturday.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

Patriots' Mac Jones: Expected to play Saturday

Based on warmups, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site expects Jones and the Patriots' healthy starters to see action in Saturday's preseason game against the Packers.

It remains to be seen how much action Jones and co. will see versus Green Bay, but once his looming stint is completed, Bailey Zappe, Malik Cunningham and Trace McSorley are candidates to see QB reps for the remainder of Saturday's contest.
