Baker Mayfield QB | TB
Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Turnover-filled season-opening loss
Mayfield completed 23 of 28 passes for 216 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions while adding five rushes for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 33-27 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He also lost three fumbles.
Fresh off inking his long-sought-after contract extension, Mayfield endured a fairly nightmarish afternoon in which his turnovers played a direct role in the Buccaneers' narrow loss. Mayfield's first fumble of the day came just past the midway point of the first quarter on a sack and was returned for a touchdown by Demetrius Knight, while his second cost Tampa Bay points as it came on the Bengals' four-yard line early in the second quarter. The third and final time Mayfield lost the handle was costly as well, considering the ball was recovered by Cincinnati at the Buccaneers' 43-yard line and the turnover led to a field goal. Mayfield would get his team back within seven points thanks to his nine-yard touchdown run with just over three minutes remaining, but he wouldn't get the ball back again. The veteran signal-caller will look to atone in an appealing Week 2 home matchup against the Browns next Sunday.

Tyler Shough QB | NO
Saints' Tyler Shough: Tops 400 yards in OT loss to Detroit
Shough completed 35 of 56 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 31-30 overtime loss to the Lions. He added eight yards on four carries and fumbled twice, losing one of them.
The second-year quarterback struggled in the first half and the Saints were facing a 21-0 deficit early in the third quarter, but Shough turned it on down the stretch as he set new career highs in attempts, completions, passing yards and passing TDs. Coach Kellen Moore gave Shough a chance to win the game in OT rather than tying it with an extra point, but rookie WR Bryce Lance couldn't bring in his throw to the back corner of the end zone for a two-point conversion. Shough will look to reduce his mistakes in Week 2 on the road against the Ravens.

Joe Burrow QB | CIN
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Solid in season-opening win
Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception and rushed five times for 20 yards in the Bengals' 33-27 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
The Bengals have curiously struggled on offense in multiple Week 1 games during Burrow's tenure, but the star signal-caller was in solid form Sunday while connecting with nine different targets overall. Burrow hit Mike Gesicki on a two-yard touchdown late in the first quarter for the quarterback's one scoring toss, although his sole interception did result in a pick-six late in the third quarter. The costly turnover aside, the 2020 first overall pick's encouraging performance -- which came despite top receiver Ja'Marr Chase recording just two receptions for 12 yards -- affords Burrow some momentum heading into a Week 2 road showdown against the Texans next Sunday.

Bryce Young QB | CAR
Panthers' Bryce Young: Produces four TDs in Week 1 loss
Young completed 23 of 37 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 59-37 loss to the Bears. He added 10 yards and a TD on two carries.
In the highest-scoring Week 1 contest in NFL history, Young did his part to try and keep Carolina in the game, but his defense couldn't slow down Chicago's ground game. The fourth-year QB tossed one score to Chuba Hubbard in the first quarter and two to Jalen Coker in the second and fourth while also running one in himself from seven yards out in the second quarter. Young accounted for a career-high 25 touchdowns (23 through the air, two on the ground) in the 2025 regular season, and he's off to a flying start in the quest to top that number this season. He'll look to stay sharp in Week 2 on the road against the Falcons.

Caleb Williams QB | CHI
Bears' Caleb Williams: Produces four TDs in huge Week 1 win
Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns while carrying the ball 10 times for 65 yards and two more TDs in Sunday's 59-37 win over the Panthers.
In the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history, Williams led the Bears on nine separate scoring drives, tossing touchdowns to Cole Kmet in the second quarter and Jahdae Walker in the fourth while adding rushing scores of his own in the first and second quarters. The third-year QB produced a career-high 30 touchdowns in 2025, 27 through the air and three on the ground, but he may be poised to shatter that mark in 2026. Williams will face a likely tougher test at home in Week 2 against the Vikings.

Lamar Jackson QB | BAL
Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Stellar numbers in Week 1 win
Jackson completed 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions while adding seven rushes for 40 yards and another score in Sunday's 41-23 win over the Colts. He also lost a fumble.
Although Derrick Henry put together a dominant performance of 144 rushing yards and three touchdowns, Jackson still found his way to a standout afternoon that included an average of 13.0 yards per attempt. Jackson also was the first to strike for Baltimore, capping off the Ravens' first possession with a five-yard scoring run. He went on to add a 54-yard scoring strike to Zay Flowers (hamstring) in the first half, and the one blemish on the star quarterback's afternoon was his fumble on a sack deep in his own territory during the latter portion of the second quarter. Jackson ultimately connected with nine different targets overall, and his impressive passing yardage figure was generated with Flowers missing the entire second half because of his injury. Jackson's prospects will remain bright in a Week 2 home matchup next Sunday against a Saints team that allowed 31 points to the Lions in Week 1.

Kyler Murray QB | MIN
Vikings' Kyler Murray: Won't return to Sunday's game
Murray (concussion) has been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the Packers, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Murray was sandwiched by a pair of Green Bay defenders while going to the ground in the first quarter, drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty in the process. He immediately was under evaluation for a head injury before the Vikings deemed him unable to return. Carson Wentz took over under center for Murray, while J.J. McCarthy's status as the emergency third quarterback means he could make an appearance if Wentz also leaves with an injury.

Kyler Murray QB | MIN
Vikings' Kyler Murray: Being evaluated for concussion
Murray is undergoing a concussion evaluation after taking a hard hit in Sunday's Week 1 matchup versus the Packers.
Murray was dealt a blow to the head by Javon Bullard on a play that drew an unnecessary roughness penalty. The Vikings quarterback immediately went to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. Carson Wentz replaced Murray behind center for Minnesota and will direct the Vikings' offense moving forward if Murray is unable to return.

Josh Allen QB | BUF
Bills' Josh Allen: Two passing TDs, two rushing scores in win
Allen completed 20 of 29 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns while rushing six times for 23 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 36-31 win over the Texans.
Allen ran in touchdowns of 21 yards and one yard in the second quarter. Those two rushing scores give him 43 regular-season rushing touchdowns since the start of the 2023 campaign, which is second most in the NFL during that span behind Derrick Henry. Allen added his third total TD of the second quarter with a 43-yard touchdown pass to offseason acquisition DJ Moore. The 2024 MVP delivered some late heroics after the Bills fell behind 31-30 in the fourth quarter, leading a seven-play, 96-yard drive capped by a 34-yard Allen touchdown pass to Joshua Palmer with 1:36 to play. Buffalo's defense did the rest as the Bills improved to 1-0 ahead of Thursday's Week 2 home opener against the Lions.

Cole Payton QB | PHI
Eagles' Cole Payton: Sitting for Week 1
Payton (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders.
The fifth-round rookie is the No. 4 quarterback on the roster. Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee (coach's decision) as the emergency quarterback all take precedence over the young player out of North Dakota State. It is unclear if Payton will have a role with the team in 2026 or if he will be consistently inactive.
