Bengals' Joe Burrow: May be eyeing Thanksgiving return

Burrow (toe) won't play Sunday against the Steelers after the Bengals designated him for return from injured reserve Monday, but the quarterback acknowledged that he's hopeful to begin available for Cincinnati's Thanksgiving Day game against the Ravens on Nov. 27, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. "We'll see how these next couple weeks go," Burrow said, when asked about a potential return date. "There's a lot that goes into it. There's a lot of variables that you have to consider."

One of those variables will be the Bengals' record as he works his way back from surgery to address a Grade 3 sprain of the big toe on his left foot, a procedure he underwent Sept. 19. In any case, it looks like veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco -- who is managing a shoulder issue of his own -- will draw at least two more starts for the 3-6 Bengals. In his return to practice Monday in a limited capacity, Burrow didn't participate in any 11-on-11 team drills, but he threw some passes to receivers while not facing any defenders.

  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: Increasing odds to return to action

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Purdy (toe) will continue to increase his activity level this week, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

As it pertains to Purdy's first appearance since Week 4 due to a turf toe injury, Shanahan told David Lombardi of SFStandard.com that the 49ers "want three aggressive practices [from him], and we want to hear from him and make sure he feels good after them, too." This follows Shanahan's comments from Sunday, in which he relayed that Purdy "hopefully" will "have a chance this week," per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Wednesday's injury report ultimately will reveal Purdy's initial activity level for Week 11 prep, but if he's listed as full, it'll be a good indication that he's trending toward a return to action Sunday at Arizona. Mac Jones so far has earned eight spot starts in place of Purdy this season.

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Practice window opens

The Bengals announced Monday that Burrow (toe) has been designated for a return from IR and will practice in a limited capacity.

Burrow now kicks off a 21-day window wherein his can practice without counting against the 53-man roster, allowing him to begin ramping up his activity level with the target of making a return to the lineup in December. The franchise quarterback is recovering from surgery undergone Sept. 21 to address a Grade 3 turf toe injury. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network have confirmed that December remains the Bengals' tentative target for Burrow to retake the field, but it's encouraging to see him already ready to handle limited practice reps. Joe Flacco will continue operating as Cincinnati's starting quarterback until such time as Burrow gains full clearance, including Sunday on the road against Pittsburgh.

  • Justin Fields QB | NYJ

Jets' Justin Fields: Coach quiet on starting QB again

Jets coach Aaron Glenn declined Monday to name Fields or Tyrod Taylor as the team's starting quarterback for Thursday's divisional matchup on the road against New England, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.

Glenn waited until the last moment to name Fields the starter for Sunday's 27-20 win over the Browns despite having had a Week 9 bye to prepare, and per Al Iannazzone of Newsday, the head coach said he wouldn't "waste [his] time" answering questions about the quarterback situation entering Thursday's divisional contest. Fantasy managers in need of a Week 11 starter may need to roster both Fields and Taylor -- or, better yet, avoid the situation entirely -- until an official decision is announced. Fields struggled again despite eking out a win versus Cleveland, completing just six of 11 passes for 54 yards, one touchdown and one interception, with most of his passing yards coming on a 42-yard touchdown to Breece Hall on a screen pass. Part of Fields' issues can be attributed to Garrett Wilson (knee) having been forced out before securing a single catch, but with the No. 1 wideout now seemingly trending in the wrong direction for Week 11, it will be difficult to trust any part of New York's passing game regardless of who lines up under center.

  • Justin Herbert QB | LAC

Chargers' Justin Herbert: Manages team to victory on SNF

Herbert completed 20 of 33 pass attempts for 220 yards and a touchdown while rushing five times for 19 yards in Sunday's 25-10 win over the Steelers.

Herbert posted a traditional "game manager" type stat line, taking good care of the football while doing enough to lift his team to victory. The loss of LT Joe Alt (ankle) to injured reserve was on full display, as the Chargers' signal-caller was sacked five times on Sunday Night Football. Herbert suffered an injury on one of the first-half sacks, but he was able to stay in the game after having his ankle taped up, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. The 27-year-old showed no mobility limitations in the second half, which should help put his fantasy managers' thoughts at ease moving forward. Herbert will benefit from facing the Jaguars' 28th-ranked pass defense next Sunday in the Chargers' last game preceding the team's Week 12 bye.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Shut down by Chargers

Rodgers completed 16 of 31 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 25-10 loss to the Chargers.

The Steelers had minimal success moving the ball at any point when the outcome was in doubt, and Rodgers made several uncharacteristic mistakes. He took a safety midway through the first quarter and then overthrew his intended targets several times, including an interception late in the second quarter that led to a touchdown for the Chargers. Rodgers managed to lead a garbage-time drive late in the fourth quarter to rack up 64 yards and a touchdown to pad his stat line, but he has now averaged 6.1 yards per attempt or fewer in three straight games.

  • Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Mixed results in blowout loss

Brissett completed 22 of 44 pass attempts for 258 yards and two touchdowns while gaining 31 yards on four carries and losing two fumbles in Sunday's 44-22 loss to Seattle.

Brissett's improbable victory over the Cowboys last week was put out of mind after Arizona was greeted by the Seahawks with a 35-0 deficit in the first half. The veteran signal-caller salvaged his day by compiling stats in garbage time, producing his fourth straight start of 250 or more passing yards and two touchdowns thrown. Brissett has great shot at extending his streak of fantasy production against an injury-riddled 49ers defense next Sunday.

  • Mac Jones QB | SF

49ers' Mac Jones: Strong fantasy performance Sunday

Jones completed 33 of 39 pass attempts for 319 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while gaining three yards on one rush attempt in Sunday's 42-26 loss to the Rams.

Jones made another start under center for the injured Brock Purdy (toe), and the results were positive from a fantasy perspective. It was Jones' third spot-start in which he threw for more than 300 yards, and the second in which he recorded three touchdown passes. After the loss, head coach Kyle Shanahan hinted that Purdy could be ready to return in Week 11, which would put an end to Jones' run as a startable option in fantasy. Managers should hold until an official announcement is made ahead of next Sunday's tilt against the Cardinals, as Jones has been exceeding expectations as the 49ers' starter.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Reaches 400 career passing TDs

Stafford completed 24 of 36 pass attempts for 280 yards and four touchdowns while taking three kneeldowns in Sunday's 42-26 win over San Francisco.

Stafford's second touchdown strike was the 400th touchdown pass of his decorated career, as he became just the ninth quarterback in NFL history to reach that mark. The 37-year-old kept making history by becoming the first signal-caller to record at least four touchdown passes with no interceptions over three consecutive contests. Stafford's 25 touchdown passes represent his highest mark since the 41 he threw in the regular season the year the Rams won Super Bowl LVI. The 2009 first-overall pick is playing some of the best ball of his career heading into a crucial home tilt against the 7-2 Seahawks next Sunday.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Seahawks' Sam Darnold: Commits three turnovers Sunday

Darnold completed 10 of 12 pass attempts for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception while losing two fumbles in Sunday's 44-22 win over Arizona.

It was a peculiar stat line from Darnold after he completed 83 percent of his attempts while committing three turnovers in a massive victory. Seattle's rushing attack (two touchdowns) and defense (two touchdowns) did all the heavy lifting on offense outside of an impressive touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the game's opening drive. Darnold has sprinkled in a couple of these duds amongst mostly standout performances through nine starts. Fantasy managers should feel confident about a bounce-back game from Darnold in Week 11 when the Seahawks match high-octane offenses with the Rams next Sunday.
