  • Tom Savage QB | DET

49ers' Tom Savage: Returns to San Francisco

Savage re-signed with the 49ers on Monday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Savage became an option following Adrian Colbert's (ankle) placement on injured reserve. For now, San Francisco seems comfortable with C.J. Beathard at the helm. Savage will provide a veteran safety blanket should anything happen to Beathard, but even if he did find his way onto the field in 2018, his fantasy value figures to rank near the bottom of the league.

  • Bills' Nathan Peterman: Won't start Week 8

Peterman's teammate Derek Anderson will get the start Week 8 against New England, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.

Perhaps it's a sign as to just how bad Peterman has been in limited chances -- he's thrown nine interceptions on just 79 career passes -- when he's being bypassed for a 35-year-old that just signed with the team two weeks ago and turned the ball over four times in Sunday's loss against the Colts. Josh Allen (elbow) isn't ready to come back yet, so Peterman will remain the No. 2 for the time being. It'll be interesting to see what the Bills do when the prized rookie is ready to return, while it's possible Peterman could see the field next Monday night if the Patriots get out to a big lead versus the Bills, if only so the team has a last-ditch attempt to see if the second-year player holds any promise around his shattered ego.

  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Ruled out for Week 8

Allen (elbow) will not play Week 8 against the Patriots, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.

Derek Anderson will get the start on Monday Night Football in Week 8, even after committing four turnovers in Sunday's 37-5 loss to the Colts. Allen remains week-to-week while recovering from a sprain in his throwing elbow.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Won't start Thursday

Coach Adam Gase said Tannehill (shoulder) won't start Thursday's game against the Texans, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Tannehill was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice report estimate, but it isn't a good sign to see him ruled out this early in the week. Brock Osweiler will get at least one more start while the Dolphins' starting quarterback recovers from an AC joint sprain. It's unclear if Tannehill has a decent chance to return for Week 9 against the Jets, but Gase does at least expect the quarterback to resume some form of throwing this week, per Wolfe.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Dolphins' Ryan Tannehill: Listed as limited Monday

Tannehill (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant Monday, but he still isn't expected to play in Thursday's game against the Texans, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Monday's report was merely an estimate, as the Dolphins didn't actually practice one day after a 32-21 loss to the Lions. It appears Brock Osweiler will get at least one more game under center, likely playing with an injury-depleted receiving corps on a short week. Tannehill is recovering from a sprained AC joint and reportedly wasn't able to throw at all last week.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Texans' Deshaun Watson: Should be fine to fly in future

Texans coach Bill O'Brien doesn't expect Watson to need a bus for transportation to any more games this season, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

Watson's partially collapsed lung didn't prevent him from logging full practice sessions last week, but it did force him to use a different method of transportation to get to and from Jacksonville for Sunday's 20-7 win over the Jaguars. It won't be an issue this week with the Texans hosting the Dolphins on Thursday, and O'Brien expects Watson to be fine for a Week 9 trip to Denver. The upcoming matchup gives Watson a nice chance to break out of his slump, though he likely won't have the services of slot receiver Keke Coutee (hamstring).

  • Andy Dalton QB | PHI

Bengals' Andy Dalton: Quiet day in loss

Dalton completed 15 of 29 pass attempts for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 45-10 loss to the Chiefs.

Dalton turned in his worst fantasy line of the season despite facing one of the league's worst pass defenses. Almost all of the veteran's passing yards were on connections with A.J. Green (117 of 148 yards), but he still managed to airmail his top target on a couple of open deep routes. Dalton has seen his yardage and completion percentage decrease in each of his previous three contests, a troubling sign for a fringe starting quarterback in standard leagues. He is scheduled to face a porous Tampa Bay pass defense Week 8, but as we saw Sunday, a soft matchup may not equate to a strong fantasy day.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Shines again in primetime

Mahomes completed 28 of 39 pass attempts for 358 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 45-10 win over Cincinnati. He added 45 rushing yards on four carries.

Mahomes didn't need a second-half offensive explosion this time around on Sunday Night Football. The young gunslinger was firmly in control from start to finish, picking apart a helpless Bengals defense. Mahomes' biggest blemish on the night was an uncharacteristic underthrown ball to Tyreek Hill in triple coverage on a deep post that safety Shawne Williams picked off in the third quarter. It is interesting to note that head coach Andy Reid had Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs' offense pushing full-steam ahead even with a 38-10 lead in the fourth quarter, throwing deep passes and even going for it on a fourth-and-long. While that could be considered unsportsmanlike, it certainly has Mahomes' fantasy owners grinning at the prospects of more fantasy points even when games are out of reach. The 23-year-old will lead the league's most dynamic offense into battle against the Broncos on Sunday.

  • C.J. Beathard QB | JAC

49ers' C.J. Beathard: Commits three turnovers versus Rams

Beathard completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for 170 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Sunday's 39-10 loss to the Rams. He also carried two times for 13 yards and lost a fumble.

Beathard completed just over half the passes he attempted while recording a season low in yardage. His turnovers prevented his team from ever climbing back in the game, including one just before halftime and another in the third quarter that set up a Rams touchdown. Beathard has been a turnover machine since assuming the starting job, throwing seven interceptions to go along with three fumbles in four games. He'll look to improve that aspect of his game next Sunday against the Cardinals.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Rams' Jared Goff: Throws two TD passes in win over 49ers

Goff completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 202 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 39-10 win over the 49ers.

Goff completed an impressive 75 percent of his passes while connecting with seven different receivers. His team led comfortably for most of the game and didn't exactly press him into action, but he still delivered a serviceable fantasy performance thanks to touchdown passes to Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley. Goff should have a chance to shoulder more of the load next Sunday against the Packers in what could be a high-scoring affair.
