Coach Matt LaFleur was noncommittal about Rodgers playing in the Packers' preseason finale Thursday at Kansas City, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports. "We'll discuss that. I wanted to get through this game, see where we're at," LaFleur said.

Through the team's first two exhibitions, almost all of the regular skill-position players have donned street clothes rather than suit up. As for Rodgers himself, he hasn't seen action in the preseason since August 2018, when Mike McCarthy was coaching in Green Bay. Thus, it would somewhat surprise if Rodgers gets some snaps before Week 1 with LaFleur leading the way, but the state of the receiving corps is in flux following the offseason trade of Davante Adams. If LaFleur sees the benefit of Rodgers working in a game with new wideouts like Sammy Watkins, Christian Watson (knee) and Romeo Doubs, the quarterback may get a series or two Thursday.

Love completed 12 of 24 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints. He also added 13 rushing yards.

Love got the start with Aaron Rodgers resting. He showed glimpses of promise, particularly on a 14-play drive that resulted in a touchdown. During that possession, Love connected with four different receivers and pushed the ball down the field for gains of 17 and 15 yards. On the other hand, he completed only 50.0 percent of his passes, though a few of the misfires were drops. Once the regular season rolls around, Love will naturally be locked into the backup role behind Aaron Rodgers.

Jones completed four of eight passes for 61 yards and gained seven yards on his only carry in Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.

Dobbs is currently the favorite to open the season as the Browns' backup quarterback, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Dobbs remains ahead of Josh Rosen for the backup job behind Jacoby Brissett, but it's still an active competition. Dobbs joined the Browns this offseason after spending the 2021 campaign as a member of the Steelers, failing to enter any games during the season.
