Matt Gay: Has tryout with Colts

Gay had a tryout with the Colts on Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gay was waived by the Buccaneers after he lost out on a kicking competition to Ryan Succop at the close of training camp. With plenty of turnover in kicking games around the league, he should be able to land a new job at some point this season.

  • Ravens' Justin Tucker: Busy in Week 1

Tucker connected on all five of his extra points and converted a 41-yard field goal in Sunday's win over the Browns.

The star kicker was automatic as usual, converting all of his kicks in what was a blowout win for the Ravens. Tucker had a career-low 29 field goal attempts last season, but he made up for it in the fantasy scoring column by setting a career high with 57 made extra points. It appears that a bulk of Tucker's contributions will come via the latter category this season, but he remains extremely accurate on field-goal attempts as well.

  • Nick Folk K | ATL

Nick Folk: Back with practice squad

The Patriots have sent Folk back to their practice squad, Nick O'Malley of masslive.com reports.

The veteran kicker had been elevated to the team's 53-man roster in advance of Week 1 and kicked Sunday against the Dolphins, missing his only field-goal attempt (from 45 yards) and hitting three extra points. Folk now joins rookie kicker Justin Rohrwasser back on the expanded 2020 practice squad, with one of the two presumably in line to be promoted before Sunday night's game against the Seahawks.

  • Football Team's Dustin Hopkins: Makes five kicks

Hopkins converted both extra-point attempts and went 2-for-3 on field-goal attempts during Sunday's 27-17 win over the Eagles.

The 29-year-old missed his first kick of the day as he pulled a 48-yard field goal wide left during the second quarter, but he rebounded to make field goals from 38 and 40 yards. Hopkins went 25-for-30 on field-goal attempts and 21-for-22 on extra-points in 16 games last season.

  • Matt Prater K | BUF

Lions' Matt Prater: Three field goals in season opener

Prater made three of four field goals and both of his PATs during Sunday's 27-23 loss to Chicago.

Prater was one of three kickers league-wide to log at least four field-goal attempts in Week 1, but he missed a 55-yard try wide right. While he won't always get this many opportunities on a weekly basis, the veteran can be counted on for at least a couple per game while quarterback Matthew Stafford is healthy. In eight games with a healthy Stafford in 2019, Prater attempted 2.4 field goals per game, compared to 1.6 FGA per contest in the other eight games without Stafford.

  • Colts' Rodrigo Blankenship: Misses short FG in debut

Blankenship made two of three field goal attempts, missing from 30 yards, in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville. He converted both extra-point attempts.

It's concerning that Blankenship missed a short field goal in a close game considering the undrafted rookie likely doesn't have a strong hold on the job. He likely cannot afford many more missteps early in the season.

  • Cowboys' Greg Zuerlein: Little work in Dallas debut

Zuerlein went 1-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points in Sunday's loss to the Rams.

The miss was from 53 yards out, but Zuerlein still failed to produce a revenge game against the team that let him walk away in the spring after eight mostly excellent seasons. The Cowboys' offense was expected to be explosive this year, although it fizzled with 17 points in Week 1, so there should be more productive days ahead for Zuerlein.

  • Raiders' Daniel Carlson: Nails 54-yarder in win

Carlson connected on field-goal attempts of 20 and 54 yards and also converted all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 34-30 win over the Panthers.

Coming off a relatively disappointing 2019 campaign in which he made just 19 of 26 field-goal attempts, Carlson couldn't have asked for much more when it comes to his solid Week 1 performance in Carolina. He'll look to maintain the momentum in Week 2 for what will be the Raiders' debut on their new home turf in Las Vegas.

  • Joey Slye K | TEN

Panthers' Joey Slye: Misses extra point

Slye made all three of his field-goal attempts but missed one of his two extra-point tries in Sunday's 34-30 loss to the Raiders.

Slye converted from 47, 46 and 31 yards on his respective field goals, showing his strong leg in the process. However, the second-year kicker went wide left with his first extra-point attempt of the season, putting the Panthers in a tough situation as they trailed by four points late. While Slye will be disappointed by that miscue, his fantasy owners should at least be encouraged by him posting double-digit points to start the season.

  • Jake Elliott K | PHI

Eagles' Jake Elliott: Makes one of two tries in loss

Elliott made one of two field-goal tries and added two extra points in Sunday's 27-17 loss to Washington.

Elliott got his first field-goal opportunity with just over two minutes left in the first quarter and was successful from 38 yards out to give the Eagles a 10-0 lead. His second and final attempt wouldn't come until the third quarter, but the 25-year-old would come up short on a 53-yarder. He has been consistent so far in his NFL career, having made at least 83.9 percent of his field-goal tries in each of his three NFL seasons.
