  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Reverts to practice squad

Gonzalez reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Miami plans to continue using Gonzalez as its starting kicker in Week 9 against Detroit, but it will have to do use his last practice squad elevation in order to do so, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Gonzalez is 2-for-3 on field-goal tries and 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts through two starts this season.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Set for third consecutive start

Gonzalez is set to remain the starting kicker for the Dolphins' Week 9 matchup with the Lions, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Monday. Coach Jeff Haffley implied that the Dolphins will utilize Gonzalez's remaining practice squad elevation to suit him up for Week 9. If the team uses the last elevation, the kicker will need to be signed to the active roster to play in any subsequent games this season. Gonzalez is 2-for-3 on field-goal attempts and a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points through his two starts in 2026.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Reverts to Miami's practice squad

Gonzalez reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's practice squad. Gonzalez was perfect in the Dolphins' first regular-season win in 2026. The kicker made all four of his PATs in Sunday's win over the Jets and is set to be elevated to the active roster again for the team's Week 8 game against the Patriots.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Makes four PATs in team debut

Gonzalez did not attempt a field goal and made all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Jets. Gonzalez was elevated to the active roster with Miami for the first time this season, and he wasn't really tested in the victory. The kicker seems likely to be elevated again in Week 8 versus New England, and he'll have a chance to attempt his first field goal of the year in that contest.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Set to kick Sunday

The Dolphins elevated Gonzalez from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets. Gonzalez failed to beat out Riley Patterson for the Dolphins' starting role in preseason but has returned to compete with the struggling kicker. The 31-year-old appears set to start Sunday's divisional bout against the Jets. Gonzalez participated in nine regular-season games for the Falcons in 2025, going 19-for-22 on field-goal attempts and 17-for-18 on PATs.

  • Zane Gonzalez: Catches on with Miami

The Dolphins signed Gonzalez (undisclosed) to their practice squad Tuesday. Gonzalez failed to beat out Riley Patterson for the Dolphins' kicking job over the summer, ultimately getting cut loose Aug. 19 on an injury settlement after being placed on IR just over a week earlier. He's now seemingly recovered from that injury, and after working out with Miami earlier Tuesday, Gonzalez has re-signed with the organization. He looks poised to take over as the Dolphins' kicker beginning with Sunday's game against the Jets, with Miami releasing Patterson after he missed two field-goal tries and a point-after attempt through the club's first five games. Over parts of seven NFL seasons, Gonzalez has converted at an 81 percent clip on field-goal attempts and has excelled at neutralizing the return game, with 52.5 percent of his kickoffs going for touchbacks.

  • Zane Gonzalez: Released by Miami

The Dolphins released Gonzalez (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Gonzalez was placed on the Dolphins' injured reserve list in early August due to an undisclosed issue. The kicker did not wish to be tied up on IR for the entirety of the 2026 season and, as such, has negotiated his release with an injury settlement. Gonzalez is now a free agent and is able to sign with any franchise once he regains his health.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Lands on IR

Gonzalez (undisclosed) has been has been placed on IR by the Dolphins. Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley previously noted that Gonzalez was considered week-to-week after suffering an undisclosed injury during Saturday's practice. In the wake of Monday's move, Riley Patterson -- who Gonzalez had been competing with -- is now the only kicker on the Dolphins' active roster.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Week-to-week with undisclosed injury

Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said Monday that Gonzalez is considered week-to-week after suffering an undisclosed injury during Saturday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Though he had been competing with incumbent Riley Patterson for Dolphins kicking duties, Gonzalez's injury could effectively take him out of the running for the job. Gonzalez can be ruled out for at least Friday's preseason opener versus the Commanders, and he's not a safe bet to make it back for either of the Dolphins' final two exhibitions.

  • Dolphins' Zane Gonzalez: Joining Dolphins on one-year deal

Gonzalez has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Miami, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Gonzalez links forces with the Dolphins in advance of his age-31 season, coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which he converted 19 of 22 field-goal attempts and 17 of 18 point-after tries while logging nine regular-season appearances with the Falcons. Miami released longtime kicker Jason Sanders in early March and faces the risk of losing Riley Patterson, who was tremendous as the team's starter in 2025, as a free agent. Gonzalez provides the Dolphins with a reliable starting option, though the team could still add competition at the position or work to re-sign Patterson.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Converts two FGAs in victory

Gonzalez went 2-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made all three of his PATs in Monday night's 27-24 win over the Rams. Gonzalez was able to make multiple field goals for the second straight week and third time in four contests, converting attempts from 56 and 51 yards in the second half. The kicker's lone miss on the day came in the third quarter when his 37-yard try was blocked by Jared Verse, who then picked it up and returned it for a touchdown. Gonzalez has now gone 15-for-18 on field-goal tries, including 8-for-10 from 50-plus yards, while making 16 of 17 extra-point attempts over eight contests with Atlanta this season.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Misses PAT in Week 16 win

Gonzalez made both of his field-goal attempts and two of three PATs in Sunday's 26-19 win over the Cardinals. Gonzalez converted 49- and 40-yard field goals versus Arizona but missed a second-quarter extra point following a six-yard Kyle Pitts touchdown. Gonzalez has kicked in seven games for Atlanta this season, going 13-for-15 on field-goal tries and 13-for-14 on extra points. He's not an overly exciting fantasy kicker headed into next Monday night's game against the Rams.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Comes through with walk-off FG

Gonzalez made his only field-goal attempt and both of his extra-point tries Thursday in a 29-28 Week 15 win over Tampa Bay. Gonzalez didn't attempt a field goal in the first half but made both of his extra-point tries. The Falcons attempted a two-point conversion on each of their second-half touchdowns, so Gonzalez went almost the entire third and fourth quarters without taking the field. However, Atlanta drove down the field in the final two minutes of game time and called upon Gonzalez for a 43-yard field-goal try with four seconds left on the clock. The veteran kicker converted to give the Falcons the win. Since taking over as the team's kicker Week 10 against Indianapolis, Gonzalez has made 11 of 13 field-goal tries and 10 of 10 PATs.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Has kick blocked

Gonzalez went 3-of-4 on field-goal attempts in Sunday's 37-9 loss to the Seahawks. The kicker hit from 35, 43 and 27 yards Sunday, but he had a 50-yard attempt blocked in the second quarter. It was only Gonzalez's second miss in five games since he signed with the Falcons in early November, and both have been field goals, as he's been perfect on extra points.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Misses FGA in Week 13 loss

Gonzalez converted one of two field-goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in the Falcons' 27-24 loss to the Jets on Sunday. Gonzalez missed a 50-yard field-goal attempt wide right in the third quarter but hit one from 52 yards on the next drive. Through four games with the Falcons, Gonzalez has made seven of eight field goals and all nine of his PATs. In an offense now quarterbacked by Kirk Cousins with Drake London (knee) injured, Gonzalez isn't an exciting fantasy kicker.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect on four kicks vs. NOLA

Gonzalez went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made his lone extra-point try during the Falcons' 24-10 win over the Saints on Sunday. Gonzalez opened Sunday's scoring with a 56-yard field goal early in the first quarter and added two more field goals from 41 and 54 yards in the second frame. The veteran kicker has been perfect since joining Atlanta in early November, having made all six of his field-goal attempts (three of which have come from 50-plus yards) and each of his six point-after tries across three regular-season games.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect in loss

Gonzalez made his only field-goal attempt and completed a pair of extra-point tries during the Falcons' 31-25 overtime loss to the Colts in Berlin on Sunday. Gonzalez completed a 47-yard field goal to extend the Falcons' lead in the third quarter. The new kicker is perfect on field goals and extra points through his first game as a Falcon.

  • Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: New kicker in Atlanta

Gonzalez agreed to a one-year contract with the Falcons on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Atlanta will make room for Gonzalez on its roster by waiving incumbent kicker Parker Romo, whose missed extra-point attempt in this past Sunday's game against the Patriots proved to be the difference in a 24-23 loss. Gonzalez, who had been a free agent since being cut by Washington in April, brings ample NFL experience to the table, though he's rarely performed well enough to earn a long-term stay at any of his four stops since entering the league in 2017. The 30-year-old has converted field goals at an 80 percent clip across stints with the Browns, Cardinals, Panthers and Commanders over parts of six seasons.

  • Zane Gonzalez: Let go by Washington

The Commanders are releasing Gonzalez on Tuesday after having signed Matt Gay, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports. Gonzalez performed admirably for Washington after Austin Seibert (groin) was lost to injury in Week 12 last year, suiting up for six regular-season games and three postseason contests. In that span he converted 12 of his 15 field-goal attempts and all 27 of his extra-point tries. Gonzalez, who will turn 30 in early May, likely won't need long to catch on with a new team.

  • Commanders' Zane Gonzalez: Running it back in D.C.

Washington re-signed Gonzalez on Thursday. As Austin Seibert went to the Commanders' injured reserve list with a hip injury ahead of Week 13, Gonzalez was signed to fill in. Over nine games, including the postseason, he made 12 of his 15 field-goal tries and all 27 of his extra-point attempts. That seems to have been good enough to earn him priority for the starting job for 2025.
