Diggs is reportedly on the Commanders' radar, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Per Fowler, the Commanders are in wait-and-see mode in terms of their wide receiver corps, but the team is monitoring the situation with Diggs, who the report suggests is intrigued by the chance to play for Washington. For now, Terry McLaurin is the team's clear-cut top WR, with all of Antonio Williams, Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown, Jaylin Lane and Van Jefferson competing for slotting behind McLaurin.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, "at least five teams have been checking in on Diggs" ahead of the opening of NFL training camps. After putting up a 85-1,013-4 line on 102 targets in 17 regular-season games during his only campaign with the Patriots, Diggs was let go in March and has yet to catch on elsewhere. While Fowler's report doesn't suggest that anything is imminent, Diggs does eventually figure to catch on with a team looking to bolster its WR depth, and depending on his landing spot, the 32-year-old could yield decent fantasy utility relative to his current average draft position.

Diggs said on his YouTube channel that "You can't name a No. 2 better than me" when referring to wide receivers across the NFL, ESPN.com reports. Diggs still views himself as one of the NFL's best wide receivers and believes he could earn a starting role on any team. The 32-year-old free agent exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in the 2025 regular season as the top option in the passing game for the Patriots, which marked the seventh time in the last eight campaigns that Diggs topped 1,000 yards. New England opted to cut Diggs rather than pay his $26.5 million salary cap hit in 2026, but he presumably wants to be paid like a starting wideout wherever he plays next.

Diggs recently told FOX 5 Washington DC that he anticipates signing with a team soon and has interest in playing for the Commanders. Diggs grew up in Gaithersburg, Md., played his college ball at the University of Maryland and still lives in the same area during the NFL offseason. The Commanders, meanwhile, have more than $40 million in cap space and lack experienced starters at wide receiver opposite Terry McLaurin. It's not hard to connect the dots, especially after Diggs told a Washington news program that a homecoming was one of the first things he thought about when the Patriots released him in March. The NFL recently closed its review of Diggs for an alleged December dispute with his private chef, and now that a suspension is off the table, it sounds like the Commanders have serious competition to sign the 32-year-old wideout. He was a highly efficient possession receiver in his lone season with New England, catching 85 of 102 targets (83.3 percent) for 1,013 yards in 17 regular-season games, albeit with just four TDs and a long gain of 34 yards.

The NFL has closed its review of Diggs after determining that there was insufficient evidence of a personal conduct policy violation stemming from an alleged dispute with his private chef this past December, ESPN.com reports. Friday's decision arrives after Diggs was found not guilty last month of assaulting his private chef in a pay dispute, but at the time of the verdict NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy noted that the matter remained "under review of the personal conduct policy." Diggs, who was released by the Patriots in March, has yet to catch on elsewhere, but on the heels of a 2025 regular season in which he recorded an 85-1,013-4 line on 102 targets in 17 games, the 32-year-old is a candidate to garner interest in the coming weeks from teams still seeking to bolster their WR corps.
