  • Pirates' Braxton Ashcraft: Fans career-high eight in win

Ashcraft (1-1) earned the win Sunday against the Orioles, allowing one run on four hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out eight.

Ashcraft built off an impressive 2026 debut, when he gave up only two runs in six innings versus the Reds. The eight punchouts were a career high for the right-hander, who tossed 54 of his 87 pitches for strikes Sunday. Ashcraft surrendered no walks after walking three his first time out, and he'll be looking to cross the 90-pitch mark for the first time this year in a tough spot versus the Cubs in Chicago for his next scheduled outing.

  • Chris Roycroft RP | STL

Cardinals' Chris Roycroft: Sent to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The right-hander will be demoted to Triple-A after surrendering five earned runs in his first five outings of the season. Roycroft had a 7.84 ERA in 20 appearances with the Cardinals last season and will likely need better results with Memphis in order to get another look in the big leagues.

  • Jared Shuster RP | STL

    Cardinals' Jared Shuster: Contract selected

The Cardinals selected Shuster's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The left-hander was unable to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster after signing as a non-roster invitee in December, but he'll get a look in the big leagues less than two weeks into the season. Shuster made 12 appearances with the White Sox last season and surrendered 14 earned runs with a 12:5 K:BB over 15.2 innings.

  • Slade Cecconi SP | CLE

Guardians' Slade Cecconi: Rebounds with six shutout frames

Cecconi took a no-decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk in six innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander bounced back in a big way following his season debut, when he surrendered six runs in 4.1 innings against the Mariners. Cecconi yielded a lone hit and fired 55 of his 85 pitches for strikes Sunday, and he perhaps benefitted from the elements of a chilly afternoon at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Cecconi has a difficult assignment in Atlanta slated for his next start, which might limit his streaming appeal.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Carlos Santana: Leaves with apparent injury

Santana was removed from Sunday's game against Atlanta due to an apparent injury, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

The veteran first baseman appeared to tweak something during his first plate appearance but remained in the game, only to be replaced by a pinch runner after hitting a single. Santana can be considered day-to-day for now, but his status should be updated in the near future.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Remaining on bench Sunday

Winn (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Winn is sitting for a second straight game Sunday after departing Friday's contest due to left hip tightness. The shortstop is going through his full pre-game routine and could be back in the starting nine Monday in Washington, per Jones.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Cubs' Edward Cabrera: Extends scoreless streak Sunday

Cabrera took a no-decision Sunday against the Guardians, allowing no runs on one hit and five walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

While Cabrera did dominate the Guardians in terms of keeping them out of the hit column, he did struggle to find the plate Sunday. The lack of control prevented him from working deeper into the outing, as the right-hander threw only 51 of his 97 pitches for strikes. It was the ninth time in his career that he lent at least five free passes, but Cabrera has managed to fire 11.2 scoreless innings so far in 2026 ahead of his next scheduled start against Pittsburgh.

  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Departs with ankle issues

Barger was removed from Sunday's game against the White Sox due to bilateral ankle discomfort, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Barger went 0-for-3 before being replaced by Jesus Sanchez in right field for the bottom of the sixth inning. The severity of the injury is unclear, so Barger should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

  • Joey Lucchesi RP | LAA

Angels' Joey Lucchesi: DFA'd by Halos

The Angels designated Lucchesi for assignment Sunday.

The left-hander signed with the Angels in late March after being let go by the Giants, but he surrendered two runs across 2.1 frames in his first three appearances of the season. Lucchesi was cut loose to free up a roster spot for George Klassen, who was promoted to start Sunday against Seattle.

  • Christian Roa RP | CHC

Astros' Christian Roa: Back in majors

The Astros recalled Roa from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Sugar Land last Monday after making two relief appearances during the first weekend of the regular season, and he'll rejoin the big club with Hunter Brown (shoulder) landing on the injured list. Roa should fill a low-leverage role while up with the big club.
