Waldschmidt is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Waldschmidt started the previous three games and will hit the bench Tuesday after going 3-for-11 with a double, two runs and six strikeouts. Jorge Barrosa will take over in center field and bat ninth versus Athletics righty Jack Perkins.

The Phillies recalled De La Cruz from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 29-year-old exercised the opt-out in his minor-league contract with the Phillies but quickly re-signed and was added to the 40-man roster in early July, and he'll now get his first look in the majors this season. De La Cruz has 12 homers with an .806 OPS in 84 games with the IronPigs this year, but he hasn't seen significant MLB action since he posted a .654 OPS across 149 games between Pittsburgh and Miami in 2024.

The Diamondbacks optioned Burgos to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Burgos threw 1.1 scoreless innings after coming up from Reno on Monday, but he'll now head back to the minors in order to make room for Kohl Drake, who was recalled to start Tuesday's game against St. Louis. Burgos has now given up one run in 2.2 MLB innings this season, but his 5.88 ERA in the minors will likely limit the number of opportunities he receives with the big club.

Carpenter (heel) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Carpenter has recently been playing through a bruised heel and was pulled from Monday's series opener due to the injury. He'll miss at least one start, though the 28-year-old may not have been in the lineup regardless of the injury since lefty David Peterson is pitching Tuesday for Chicago. Dillon Dingler will serve as the designated hitter while Jake Rogers works behind the plate.

The Diamondbacks recalled Drake from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Drake's start Tuesday will mark his MLB debut, and he'll be welcomed to the big leagues by a Cardinals offense that's posted just a .652 OPS since the beginning of July. The 26-year-old has put up an unsightly 6.92 ERA through 66.1 innings in the minors, but he's allowed just four earned runs in 12.1 frames across his last three minor-league outings. Juan Burgos was optioned to Reno in a corresponding move.

Interim Red Sox manager Chad Tracy said that Suarez (groin) is in the mix to return from the 15-day injured list to start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

The left-hander was scheduled to come off the injured list to start Tuesday's contest, but Eduardo Rivera was instead named the starter for that game before it was ultimately postponed due to inclement weather. Suarez is apparently experiencing some soreness after recently testing out his groin and is also feeling a bit under the weather, which prompted Boston to move back his return. Even if Suarez doesn't end up taking the mound in Wednesday's nightcap, he could still be back in the Red Sox's rotation later this week.

The Dodgers transferred Smith (neck) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Smith isn't expected to return to the Dodgers' lineup until at least mid-August, so his move to the 60-day IL won't have any impact on his return timeline. The move will, however, free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Charlie Barnes, who was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Rivera won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Orioles since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Ranger Suarez (groin) was initially poised to come off the injured list to start Tuesday, but the Red Sox then announced Rivera as their starting pitcher before the game was ultimately postponed. The rookie left-hander could pitch in Wednesday's doubleheader, but Suarez also remains in the mix to start the nightcap.

The Dodgers optioned Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Knack has given up five runs in five innings since making his season debut July 11, so the Dodgers will send him down to Triple-A to get back on track. Charlie Barnes will come up from the minors to fill the resulting vacancy in the bullpen.

Carroll (elbow) is starting in right field and batting third Tuesday against the Athletics, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

The 25-year-old is back in the lineup as expected Tuesday after sitting out Monday's series opener due to a hyperextended right elbow. The fact Carroll is returning to the lineup so quickly and is playing the field rather than being eased back in as the designated hitter indicates the injury isn't a significant concern.
