Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Miami, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez will move to the bench after going 2-for-19 with six strikeouts in New York's last five games. Luis Torrens will fill in at catcher and bat ninth.

Jimenez (illness) will start at third base and bat fifth Saturday against the Mets.

Jimenez has been out since Wednesday due to a stomach illness, but he now seems to be feeling better and will pick up a start at the hot corner against southpaw Zac Thornton.

Raley (elbow) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

The 31-year-old's absence Saturday could be attributed to southpaw Connor Prielipp starting on the mound for Minnesota, but Raley will get another day to recover from elbow soreness all the same. Dominic Canzone will start in right field as a result, moving Cal Raleigh into the DH spot while Mitch Garver starts at catcher.

Matsui (2-1) earned the win over San Francisco on Friday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over three scoreless innings.

San Diego deployed a bit of an unusual pitching progression, opening with reliever Bradgley Rodriguez for one inning before going to Matsui for three frames and finishing with veteran starter German Marquez for the final five . All three hurlers pitched well, and Matsui got the victory with three scoreless frames that included just one hit. The left-hander completed three innings for the first time as a major-leaguer, throwing 49 pitches (32 strikes). Matsui isn't seeing a ton of high-leverage work, but he's having his best big-league season to date, posting a 2.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 45:24 K:BB while collecting six holds through 31 appearances spanning 41.2 innings.

The Twins reinstated Acton (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Acton landed on the injured list in late April with a strained right shoulder but began playing in rehab games July 11. Since then, he's given up four runs in 9.2 innings across three levels. Now fully healthy, he'll stay put at Triple-A and provide organizational bullpen depth.

Jones went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk against the Cubs in a 2-0 victory Friday.

There wasn't much offense in the low-scoring affair, and Jones was the only player on the Yankees to reach base more than once. The slugging outfielder also accounted for half of the team's runs with a 418-foot solo blast in the fifth frame. Jones went 0-for-4 across his first three games after his most recent call-up July 26, but he's since turned things around by going 4-for-9 with a pair of homers, four RBI and two stolen bases over his subsequent three contests. He's started three of five games since Cody Bellinger landed on the IL due to a hamstring injury.

The Twins designated Laweryson (undisclosed) for assignment Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Laweryson will give up his 40-man roster spot to A.J. Minter, who officially joined the Twins on Saturday after being traded from the Mets on Thursday. Laweryson owns a 4.86 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 16.2 innings in the majors this year and hasn't pitched at Triple-A St. Paul since July 17 due to an unknown injury.

The Twins optioned Matthews to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

After striking out 10 batters in five innings during his start Friday, Matthews will head back to the minors to create roster space for A.J. Minter and open a spot in the rotation that will presumably be filled by Dean Kremer. Matthews has posted a 5.22 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 81 innings this season and is likely to remain as a depth piece at St. Paul for most of the remainder of the year, barring an injury to one of the Twins' starters.

Rosario went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 2-0 win over the Cubs on Friday.

Rosario plated the first run in the low-scoring affair with a 450-foot solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. The utility man went deep on both the first and the last day of July but batted just .148 with no long balls and no RBI while striking out at a horrid 53.6 percent rate over 15 games in between. Rosario has started at third base four of the past five times New York has faced a left-handed starter and appears to be holding down the short side of a platoon at the hot corner with Ryan McMahon.

The Mets optioned Curry to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

After pitching five innings out of the bullpen Friday, Curry will head back to Triple-A so the Mets can add another fresh arm in the form of Kevin Herget. Curry has given up four runs in 11 innings this season, which should keep him in consideration for a return to the majors later in the year.
