The Athletics placed Langeliers on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The transaction is hardly a surprise after Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reported earlier Sunday that that the injury could keep the catcher out for the remainder of the season. The Athletics have yet to reveal if Langeliers will undergo surgery, but in the likely event he does, his 2026 campaign would come to an early end. Brian Serven was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to take Langeliers' place on the 26-man active roster, while Jonah Heim is poised to step in as the Athletics' primary backstop.

Montgomery (elbow) allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Montgomery built up to 75 pitches in his seventh rehab start, which he's hoping will be his final outing in the minors before coming off the 60-day injured list, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker wouldn't commit to Montgomery making his next appearance in the majors, however, as the Rangers presumably want to assess him during a bullpen session before deciding on his next step. Montgomery -- who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from March 2025 UCL surgery -- has turned in a 4.74 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 19 innings over his seven starts between Round Rock and Double-A Frisco.

The Nationals recalled House from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday. He'll start at third base and bat fifth in the Nationals' series finale versus the Diamondbacks.

With Washington having traded Curtis Mead to Boston, House will come up from Triple-A to fill the open spot on the 26-man active roster. House served as the Nationals' primary third baseman to begin the season and produced a .681 OPS in 44 games prior to his demotion May 18. After putting together a .301/.342/.500 slash line with a 23.9 percent strikeout rate over 222 plate appearances at Triple-A, House could end up garnering another look as an everyday player at the hot corner, though Jorbit Vivas and Jose Tena also loom as options at third base.

The Red Sox activated Suarez (groin/illness) from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

The left-hander was originally poised to come off the injured list in the middle of last week, but an illness pushed back his return. Now fully recovered from the ailment and the groin strain that originally landed him on the IL, Suarez is ready to make his first big-league appearance since July 5. In five starts prior to that injury-shortened outing, the 30-year-old had a 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB over 30 innings.

The Red Sox optioned Gamboa to Triple-A Worcester.

He'll give up his spot on the active roster to left-hander Ranger Suarez (groin/illness), who was reinstated ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Blue Jays. Gamboa's latest stint in the majors lasted four days, with the lefty striking out seven and allowing one earned run on five hits and one walk across five innings between two relief appearances.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury while running the bases and will be out for the foreseeable future. If surgery is necessary to address the injury -- which appears likely -- Langeliers will miss the rest of the campaign. The torn meniscus is an unfortunate development for the backstop, who was a first-time All-Star this season after clubbing 23 home runs with a .263/.332/.497 slash line through 93 games.

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Hoskins will be on the bench for the second game in a row and for the third time in five contests. With the Guardians recently getting Jose Ramirez and Angel Martinez back from the injured list, Hoskins could see most of his usage on the short side of a platoon at first base with Kyle Manzardo.

Hernandez (arm/leg) has struck out four batters and allowed no hits and one walk over two scoreless innings in a pair of relief appearances for Triple-A Columbus since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The 29-year-old righty signed a minor-league deal with Cleveland back in November but didn't participate in spring training while he recovered from injuries sustained during a Jan. 11 car accident. Hernandez was cleared to begin a rehab assignment July 7 and was given the green light to rejoin the Guardians' top affiliate earlier this month. He's looked good through his first two outings with Columbus and could get a look in the big-league bullpen later this season if he continues to find success at Triple-A.

Smith started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Mariners.

Smith was called up after Texas placed third baseman Josh Jung (calf) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. With both Jung and shortstop Corey Seager (back) on the shelf, there could be opportunities for the versatile Smith, who can also play the outfield. He shifted to left field Saturday when Wyatt Langford (ankle) was removed from the game.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

The Guardians will close out their series at Tampa Bay with a day game, so Bailey will receive a breather after catching seven innings of a 3-0 loss Saturday night. Austin Hedges will step in behind the plate and form a battery with starting pitcher Parker Messick.
