Santana struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his first save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Cubs.

The right-hander got Dansby Swanson and Michael Busch to chase sliders for third strikes as Santana converted his first save chance of the year. Gregory Soto worked the eighth and was less efficient, walking two batters without striking anyone out, and the closer battle in Pittsburgh seems to be tipping back in Santana's favor. He sports a 0.00 ERA through seven innings with two wins, two holds and a 6:2 K:BB.

Mlodzinski didn't factor into the decision during Friday's 2-0 win over the Cubs, allowing six hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two.

The 27-year-old right-hander wasn't particularly efficient, throwing 48 of 81 pitches for strikes, but he got locked in a 0-0 pitchers' duel with Shota Imanaga until exiting the mound in the sixth inning. Mlodzinski is still looking for his first win of 2026, but he'll take a 2.51 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB through 14.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Nationals.

Donovan isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros due to an illness, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

After going 2-for-11 with a solo homer during Seattle's last series against the Rangers, Donovan will now take some time off to recover from his illness. Leo Rivas will start at third base and bat ninth Friday and is likely to continue to start at the hot corner until Donovan returns.

Ortiz is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Nationals on Friday.

The Brewers will start David Hamilton and Luis Rengifo at shortstop and third base, respectively, for Friday's series opener. Through five games in April, Oritz has gone 3-for-19 (.158) with one steal, two runs scored and five strikeouts.

Turang (ankle) is starting at second base and batting out of the leadoff spot in Friday's game against the Nationals.

Turang was out of the lineup for the Brewers' last two games due to left ankle tendinitis, but he has been cleared to play in Friday's series opener against Washington. Through 10 regular-season games, Turang has gone 10-for-37 (.270) with four steals (five attempts), one home run and seven RBI.

The Astros placed Meyers on the 10-day injured list Friday with a Grade 2 right oblique strain, retroactive to Thursday.

Meyers was pulled from Wednesday's contest with lower-back tightness, and imaging later revealed the outfielder had suffered a significant strain. The Astros haven't yet provided a timeline for his return, but he will almost certainly miss more than the 10-day minimum. Taylor Trammell was selected from Triple-A Sugar Land to replenish Houston's outfield depth, and Joey Loperfido and Brice Matthews are candidates to receive more starts in center field while Meyers is sidelined.

Fermin is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Rockies on Friday.

Fermin will take a seat for the second time in three games while Luis Campusano starts behind the dish and bats eighth while forming a battery with Walker Buehler. Through 11 regular-season games, Fermin has gone 5-for-27 (.185) with five runs scored, two doubles and one RBI.

The Astros selected Trammell's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

With Jake Meyers (back) headed to the 10-day injured list, Trammell will provide outfield depth with the Astros. In 10 games with Sugar Land this season, Trammell has slashed .226/.455/.548 with five extra-base hits, including two home runs, five RBI, eight runs scored, four stolen bases and an 11:11 BB:K across 45 plate appearances.

The Astros transferred Blanco (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The Astros made a flurry of roster moves Friday, and moving Blanco to the 60-day IL opened up a spot on the 40-man roster for J.P. France, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic. Blanco is recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in June of 2025, so he won't be available for the Astros until the second half of the 2026 season.

The Astros placed Javier on the 15-day injured list Friday with a Grade 2 strain in his right shoulder, retroactive to Thursday.

Javier's shoulder forced him to come out of his start Wednesday after just one inning, and he's likely to spend an extended period of time on the injured list now that he's been officially diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain. J.P. France was selected from Triple-A Sugar Land to add to Houston's bullpen depth, and AJ Blubaugh could be a candidate to move into the Astros' rotation after entering for Javier on Wednesday.
