  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Making sixth straight start

Saggese will start in left field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Nationals.

It's the sixth straight start overall and second consecutive start in left field against a righty for the right-handed-batting Saggese. Saggese -- who turns 24 on Friday -- has yet to do much at the plate this season but reached base three times in Monday's series opener.

  • Grant Anderson RP | MIL

Brewers' Grant Anderson: Scoreless inning in loss

Anderson went three up and three down in his one inning Monday in the 8-6 win against the Red Sox. He did not record a strikeout.

Anderson appeared in 66 games out of the bullpen for the Brewers last season and went 2-6 with a 3.23 ERA. Milwaukee has put Anderson on the mound six times already this season and he has posted a 2.70 ERA. The Brewers' bullpen has right-handers Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill to pitch in high-leverage situations, but a lack of other options beyond them opens the door for Anderson to be used often in middle relief.

  • Andrew Sears SP | DET

Tigers' Andrew Sears: Recovering from elbow injury

Sears is recovering from a left elbow osteophyte fracture and is in a throwing program, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Sears enjoyed a breakout 2025 season, logging a 3.49 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 123 strikeouts in 111 innings across High-A and Double-A. He only made six starts at Double-A last year, and it's unclear how lengthy Sears' recovery will be.

  • Isaac Mattson RP | PIT

Pirates' Isaac Mattson: Pitches scoreless inning in loss

Mattson allowed two hits while striking out two in one inning Monday in a 5-0 loss to the Padres.

Mattson was a revelation out of the bullpen for the Pirates last season, posting a 2.45 ERA in 44 appearances after being called up in May. The right-hander has had a heavy workload so far this season, pitching in six out of Pittsburgh's 10 games and posting a 3.00 ERA and seven strikeouts. The Pittsburgh bullpen does not have many proven right-handers other than Dennis Santana, which means Mattson should continue appearing in many games this season.

  • Nathan Church CF | STL

Cardinals' Nathan Church: Out of lineup again versus righty

Church is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Nationals.

It marks the second time in a row that the left-handed-hitting Church has been out of the lineup versus a righty. Church tallied three base knocks on Opening Day but has gone hitless over 23 plate appearances since then. Thomas Saggese is in left field again Tuesday and looks to have leapfrogged Church in the pecking order.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: RBI in comeback win

Turner went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Monday's 6-4 win against the Giants.

Turner has been batting leadoff every game this season for the Phillies and starting at shortstop. The two-time All-Star won the National League batting title last season but is off to a slower start in 2026 with a .279 average and only three RBI. As his power diminished last year, Turner was still a menace on the bases while ranking at the top of the sprint speed leaderboard, even while missing most of September with a hamstring injury.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: On bench Tuesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's.

McMahon has gone 2-for-23 with six walks and 11 strikeouts through nine games this season and will hit the bench Tuesday for the second time this year. Amed Rosario is instead starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.

  • Bryce Teodosio LF | LAA

Angels' Bryce Teodosio: RBI in win

Teodosio went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 6-2 win against Atlanta.

Teodosio earned his first hit and RBI of the season in the fourth inning with an infield single off Chris Sale. The 26-year-old made the team as a defensive specialist in the outfield and as a result has made eight appearances thus far, but he's started only twice in the young campaign. Last year, Teodosio batted only .203 in 50 games while mostly producing soft contact to go along with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate, but he stole seven bases when he got on base.

  • Kelvis Salcedo SP | DET

Tigers' Kelvis Salcedo: Delayed start to season

Single-A Lakeland placed Salcedo on the 7-day injured list as he recovers from right meniscus surgery, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Salcedo has been throwing live batting practice, so he could return in a matter of weeks. He had a 1.54 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 23.1 innings at Single-A to close last season, and the 20-year-old righty should get a bump to High-A once he knocks some rust off for the Flying Tigers.

  • Aldrin Batista SP | CHW

White Sox's Aldrin Batista: Shelved at High-A

High-A Winston-Salem placed Batista on the 60-day injured list March 26 while he recovers from an elbow injury, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Batista suffered a stress fracture in his elbow last April, but he returned Aug. 20 to log 10.1 innings for the Dash, so he must have re-injured the elbow late last season or while ramping up this spring.
