  • Drew Thorpe P | CHW

White Sox's Drew Thorpe: Moved to 60-day IL

The White Sox transferred Thorpe (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Thorpe was expected to miss the first few months of the regular season when he landed on the IL in March, so his move to the 60-day IL doesn't affect his timeline. The 25-year-old righty is entering the late stages of his recovery from a Tommy John procedure he underwent in April 2025. However, it's unclear how far he is from beginning a rehab assignment. In the meantime, the White Sox will give his 40-man spot to Trevor Richards, who was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia on Tuesday.

  • Kyle Hart RP | SD

Padres' Kyle Hart: Sent to Triple-A

The Padres optioned Hart to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

The left-hander was unable to earn rotation spot to begin the season after a solid showing during spring training, and he was inconsistent as a reliever with a 5.40 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings. Yuki Matsui (groin) was reinstated from the injured list to take Hart's roster spot.

  • Padres' Sung-Mun Song: Rejoins big club

The Padres called up Song from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Song's promotion comes as a corresponding move to the Padres placing Jake Cronenworth on the seven-day concussion injured list Tuesday. Since being optioned to Triple-A El Paso on April 27, Song has slashed .292/.346/.458 with a home run, three RBI and a stolen base across 26 plate appearances in five games.

  • Yuki Matsui RP | SD

Padres' Yuki Matsui: Off injured list

The Padres reinstated Matsui (groin) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

The Japanese left-hander has been on the shelf all season after sustaining a groin strain early in spring training, but he's now fully cleared after a month-long rehab assignment, during which he posted a 4.97 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB across 12.2 innings. Matsui should step into a middle-relief role for the Padres after posting a 3.98 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 61:33 K:BB across 61 regular-season appearances last year.

  • Andre Pallante SP | STL

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: MIL-STL postponed Tuesday

Pallante and the Cardinals won't face the Brewers on Tuesday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Tuesday's game will be made up during a doubleheader July 7; meanwhile, Pallante's next start will be pushed back to Wednesday, per Jones. The 27-year-old righty has been pitching well as of late, turning in a 2.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP alongside a 19:6 K:BB over 16.1 innings across his last three starts.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Diagnosed with concussion

The Padres placed Cronenworth on the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

It has not been revealed when or how Cronenworth suffered a concussion. The veteran infielder has had a rough season thus far with an OPS of just .498 and a .077/.200./.077 slash line over the last seven days as of Tuesday. The Padres recalled Sung-Mun Song in a corresponding move.

  • Brandon Sproat SP | MIL

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Tuesday's start rained out

Sproat and the Brewers won't play the Cardinals on Tuesday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The two sides will play a doubleheader July 7 to make up for Tuesday's contest, and Sproat will likely get the nod to start Wednesday's series finale. The 25-year-old has struggled to begin his time with the Brewers, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through his first 26.2 innings.

  • Jose Fernandez DH | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jose Fernandez: Taking seat Tuesday

Fernandez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Fernandez will get a breather after going 1-for-9 with a walk and a run scored during Arizona's latest series against the Cubs. His absence will allow Adrian Del Castillo to work as the designated hitter while batting fourth.

  • Angels' Travis d'Arnaud: Sitting Tuesday

D'Arnaud is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.

D'Arnaud went 2-for-3 in the series opener against the White Sox on Monday. The catcher will get some rest Tuesday night before a likely start in Wednesday's day game. Sebastian Rivero will start behind the plate and is batting eighth Tuesday.

  • Kirby Yates RP | LAA

Angels' Kirby Yates: Back from injured list

The Angels reinstated Yates (knee) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Yates spent the first five-plus weeks of the season on the shelf due to left knee inflammation, but he's ready to join the Angels after a four-outing rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander surrendered seven runs in his first three rehab appearances but bounced back with a scoreless frame in his final outing. Yates should be in the mix at closer for the Angels, especially since Jordan Romano was cut loose in late April.
