  • Royals' Isaac Collins: Excluded from lineup

Collins (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Tigers.

Collins departed Tuesday's 2-1 loss with a right knee contusion after running into the side wall and falling into the stands on a catch attempt. He's considered day-to-day. Lane Thomas will occupy left field and bat eighth for the Royals on Wednesday.

  • Wenceel Perez SS | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Missing out on start vs. RHP

Perez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Since being called up from Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Perez has gone 0-for-10 with a walk in three starts. Perez will stay on the bench for a second straight game against a right-handed pitcher (Seth Lugo) and may be stuck in a short-side platoon role for Detroit until his bat begins to heat up.

  • Konnor Griffin SS | PIT

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Getting breather Wednesday

Griffin is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Nick Gonzales will get a start at shortstop while Griffin receives a day off. The 19-year-old is hitting only .189/.279/.243 in his first 43 plate appearances for the Pirates, though he has reached base four times over his last two games.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Resting up Wednesday

Dingler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

He'll be getting a routine day off after starting behind the plate in each of the Tigers' last four games. Jake Rogers will handle catching duties for Detroit while Dingler rests.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Angels' Jorge Soler: Suspension reduced to four games

Soler's suspension has been reduced to four games, and he will begin serving the ban during Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Soler had initially received a seven-game ban for his involvement in a brawl during the Angels' 7-2 loss to Atlanta on April 7. After getting the suspension reduced, Soler will be eligible to return for Sunday's series finale against the Padres. The Angels will likely mix and match at designated hitter over the next four games while Soler is unavailable.

  • Drew Gilbert CF | SF

Giants' Drew Gilbert: Summoned to big club

The Giants recalled Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

With San Francisco moving two outfielders in Harrison Bader (hamstring) and Jared Oliva (wrist) to the injured list, Gilbert and Will Brennan were summoned from Triple-A to restore some depth to the position group. Bader had been making regular starts prior to getting hurt, so his move to the IL could clear the way for either Gilbert or Brennan -- both of whom are left-handed hitters -- to claim a strong-side platoon role in the outfield. At Triple-A, Brennan (.956 OPS in 54 plate appearances) had been outperforming Gilbert (.289/.389/.400 slash line, 8.9 percent strikeout rate in 56 plate appearances) to begin the season.

  • Jared Oliva RF | SF

Giants' Jared Oliva: Suffers hamate bone fracture

The Giants placed Oliva on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left wrist hamate fracture.

It's unfortunate timing for Oliva, who would have been in line for a playing time bump with Harrison Bader (hamstring) also shelved. Instead, Oliva is likely headed for surgery that will sideline him several weeks. He is 1-for-7 in his limited opportunities this season.

  • Giants' Harrison Bader: Placed on IL with hamstring strain

The Giants placed Bader on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.

Bader first hurt his hamstring late in spring training. While he avoided the IL initially, the injury has continued to linger and likely contributed to his lackluster .115/.145/.192 batting line. Jung Hoo Lee will likely shift over to center field while Bader is out, opening up right field for Jerar Encarnacion, Drew Gilbert and Will Brennan.

  • Will Brennan RF | SF

Giants' Will Brennan: Receives call-up to majors

The Giants recalled Brennan from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

With Jared Oliva (wrist) and Harrison Bader (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Brennan and Drew Gilbert will move up to the majors to bolster the Giants' outfield depth.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Availability on Wednesday TBD

Pagan (hamstring) played catch and "felt pretty good," but his availability for Wednesday's game against the Giants has yet to be determined, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Pagan's hamstring tightened up throughout his relief appearance in Tuesday's 2-1 win, and he felt it grab on his final pitch. However, after seeing the doctor and receiving treatment, he feels as though he's "dodged a bullet" with the injury. Pagan will talk with the Reds staff prior to Wednesday's contest before it's determined whether he will be available to pitch. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. If Pagan isn't cleared to pitch, Tony Santillan would likely be the first choice to fill in at closer.
