Pedro Leon CF | HOU
Phillies' Pedro Leon: Claimed off waivers by Phillies
The Phillies claimed Leon off waivers from the Orioles on Friday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Leon has now gone from the Astros to the Orioles to the Phillies via waivers this month. The 27-year-old was limited to only 25 minor-league games in 2025 due to a nagging knee issue, though he was healthy by the end of the season. Leon slashed .299/.372/.514 with 24 homers and 29 stolen bases at Triple-A Sugar Land in 2024 and has minor-league options remaining. The Phillies have openings in their outfield, but Leon will likely begin the 2026 season back in the minors.

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Settles with Brewers
The Brewers and Bauers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Friday.

Bauers re-signed with the Brewers on a minor-league deal last offseason before slashing .235/.353/.399 with seven home runs over 85 regular-season contests. The left-handed-hitting Bauers should see semi-regular reps between first base, left field and designated hitter against right-handed pitching in 2026.

Max Kranick: Non-tendered by Mets
The Mets non-tendered Kranick (elbow) on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Kranick underwent flexor tendon surgery in July, which will sideline him well into the 2026 season. It's possible the Mets bring him back on a minor-league contract, but he's now free to negotiate with all organizations. Kranick held a 3.65 ERA and 25:5 K:BB over 37 innings out of the Mets' bullpen in 2025.

The right-handed-hitting White had a .736 OPS versus left-handed pitching this past season and could see some starts versus southpaws in 2026.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Alex Jackson, who was acquired via trade. Keirsey has managed just a .113/.149/.206 batting line across 102 plate appearances at the major-league level and will now go through the waivers process.

The Twins and Topa avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul says the deal is worth $1.225 million. Topa had been viewed as a non-tender candidate, but he will stick around and could be a high-leverage reliever again on a Twins team unlikely to make any big offseason bullpen additions. The righty held a 3.90 ERA and 49:18 K:BB over 60 innings in 2025, posting a 46.7 percent groundball rate along the way.
