  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Optioned to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Gilbert to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

The move corresponds with the addition of left-hander Bryan Hudson, whom the White Sox claimed off waivers from the Mets on Friday. Gilbert struggled against the Brewers on Opening Day on Thursday, when he allowed two runs on two hits and one walk across one inning of work. He'll get more reps in Triple-A and could return to the majors later this season when the White Sox require additional depth out of the bullpen.

  • Nick Lodolo SP | CIN

Reds' Nick Lodolo: Bullpen session on tap

Lodolo (finger) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Lodolo landed on the injured list ahead of Opening Day due to a blister on his left index finger, and after starting to play catch Tuesday, he's now been cleared to resume mound work. If all goes well Sunday, the 28-year-old could make a rehab start in the minors Wednesday.

  • Jordan Beck LF | COL

    Rockies' Jordan Beck: Resting Saturday

Beck isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Beck will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk during a loss in Friday's season opener. Troy Johnston will replace him as Colorado's right fielder while batting sixth.

  • Oneil Cruz CF | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Taking seat Saturday

Cruz isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

A couple of defensive miscues from Cruz allowed the Mets to take an early 5-2 lead in the first inning of Thursday's contest, so the Pirates will keep the 27-year-old on the bench to begin Saturday's game while Jake Mangum patrols center field.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Out of Saturday's lineup

Davis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Davis went 1-for-4 with a double and drove in a run during Pittsburgh's Opening Day loss, and he'll now get a chance to rest Saturday. Joey Bart will catch for Mitch Keller instead while batting eighth.

  • Cubs' Michael Conforto: Sitting again Saturday

Conforto isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Conforto entered the season as the favorite to start in right field while Seiya Suzuki works his way back from a knee injury, but the Cubs have instead given Matt Shaw the starting nod in both of their first two contests. Conforto should still make occasional starts in the field, though perhaps not as often as initially thought.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Sitting down Saturday

Kelly isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Washington.

After going 1-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's loss, Kelly will retreat to the dugout Saturday while Miguel Amaya makes his first start of the season behind the plate, batting ninth.

  • Max Muncy SS | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Handling starting duties at third

Muncy is starting at third base and batting seventh in Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Muncy started at the hot corner for Opening Day on Friday against Toronto, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. It looks like the 23-year-old is the A's preferred option at third base to open the 2026 regular season, though Andy Ibanez and Darell Hernaiz could see some starts of their own if Muncy struggles early on. Muncy made his major-league debut in March of 2025 and finished last season with a .638 OPS with one steal, nine home runs and 23 RBI over 220 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Idle Saturday

Butler is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Butler will open Saturday's game in the dugout while the Athletics roll with Tyler Soderstrom, Denzel Clarke and Carlos Cortes in the outfield from left to right. Butler went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's 3-2 loss to Toronto, and he should continue to have scheduled rest days while recovering from offseason surgery on both of his knees.

  • Marlins' Christopher Morel: Hits IL with oblique strain

The Marlins placed Morel on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain.

Morel was in line to begin the regular season as Miami's primary first baseman, but an oblique issue caused him to be a late scratch from Friday's lineup, and manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that Morel's injury will force him to miss roughly 4-to-6 weeks, per Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com. Deyvison De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move and figures to be in the mix at first base with Connor Norby until Morel returns.
