  • Kyle Manzardo DH | CLE

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Playing time at 1B increases

Manzardo started at first base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Rays.

Manzardo singled in the Guardians' first run in a three-run first inning that provided all the scoring in the game. It was just the second win in the last 10 games for Cleveland, which may be pivoting from playoff contender to preparing next year's team. On Tuesday, the organization placed the 39-year-old Carlos Santana on outright waivers, freeing up first base for Manzardo, who has started three of the last four games there, and C.J. Kayfus.

  • John Means SP | CLE

Guardians' John Means: Knocked around at Triple-A

Means (elbow) allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings for Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Means made his third rehab start and first at the Triple-A level, which provided more pushback than his previous outings in High-A. All three hits allowed by the left-hander left the park. The one positive to take away is that Means upped his pitch count to 61, putting him another start or two away from potentially joining the Guardians for the final month.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Bats leadoff Tuesday

Steer went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Steer was moved to the leadoff spot, as manager Terry Francona trotted out an all right-handed hitting lineup against Los Angeles lefty Clayton Kershaw, which meant usual leadoff batter TJ Friedl got the night off. Steer typically bats in the middle of the order, usually fifth or sixth.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Makes first start in CF

Marte started in center field and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Marte, who transitioned from third base to right field midseason, made his first career start in the center field. Unfortunately for the Reds, it showed in the sixth inning when Marte misjudged a flyball that sailed over his head for a two-run double. He was later moved to right field, which has been his home on the diamond for the last month.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Drives in two in loss

Perdomo went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 loss to the Brewers.

Perdomo continued his breakout season with a run-scoring single in the seventh inning and then a game-tying double an inning later. He's knocked in 86 runs this season, smashing his previous career best of 47 in 2023. Perdomo ranks third among baseball's shortstops with a 5.5 fWAR.

  • Kohl Drake SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kohl Drake: Lands on IL

Drake was placed on the 7-day injured list Tuesday with a shoulder strain, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Drake made four appearances for Triple-A Reno after being acquired from the Rangers in the Merrill Kelly swap. The Diamondbacks had put him on the development list after those four outings for workload reasons, but a sprain was discovered in his shoulder that will end his 2025 season prematurely. The injury is not expected to impact the left-hander's offseason preparation. In four games for the Aces, Drake had a 9.18 ERA with 19 strikeouts and eight walks over 16.2 innings.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Gives up season-high six runs

Kikuchi (6-9) took the loss Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out three.

Kikuchi has been quite dependable overall for the Angels and fantasy managers in 2025, but he conceded greater than four runs for the first time this year Tuesday. The Japanese left-hander has also struggled for consistency since the beginning of July, posting a 5.18 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 57:20 K:BB over his last 57.1 innings. Kikuchi will try to regain his footing next week against the division-rival Astros, who have a weak .667 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the All-Star break.

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TEX

Rangers' Patrick Corbin: Twirls eight brilliant innings

Corbin (7-9) earned the win Tuesday against the Angels, allowing three hits and one walk in eight shutout innings. He struck out eight.

On a day when the Rangers learned that ace Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) is unlikely to return this season, Corbin delivered arguably his finest performance of the year. The veteran southpaw matched a season high in innings, fell one punchout shy of his season best and tied a season low in hits allowed while logging his first scoreless start of at least six frames on the campaign. Corbin will carry a 4.33 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 109:43 K:BB over 131 innings into his next scheduled start, which is set to be a tough matchup against an Arizona club with an .830 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the beginning of August.

  • Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski: Fans 10 in no-decision

Misiorowski didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out 10.

It was an encouraging showing overall for Misiorowski, who had not worked at least five innings in any of his previous four starts. The rookie phenom generated a whopping 19 whiffs en route to recording double-digit strikeouts for the second time this year, and he threw a season-high 93 pitches as well. Misiorowski holds a 4.33 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB over 43.2 frames, and he's in line for a tough test on the road against the first-place Blue Jays over the weekend.

  • Brandon Pfaadt SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Brandon Pfaadt: Tagged for six runs in short outing

Pfaadt took a no-decision Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk in 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

It was Pfaadt's shortest start since he failed to record an out during his calamitous May 31 outing against the Nationals. The 26-year-old right-hander is now up to seven appearances with at least eight hits allowed among his 27 starts, and he's also yielded at least six runs on five occasions this season. Pfaadt is set to bring a rough 5.24 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 117:33 K:BB over 142.2 frames into a scary matchup on the road against the Dodgers this weekend, which makes him tough to trust from a fantasy standpoint.
