  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Placed on IL

The Pirates placed Bart on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left foot infection, retroactive to Sunday.

Manager Don Kelly said before Tuesday's contest that Bart was "banged up," and the 29-year-old backstop will officially have to miss at least seven more games while his foot heals. Henry Davis will presumably take over as Pittsburgh's primary backstop, and Endy Rodriguez will come up from Triple-A Indianapolis to provide depth behind the plate.

  • Brandan Bidois RP | PIT

Pirates' Brandan Bidois: Recalled from Triple-A

The Pirates recalled Bidois from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Bidois takes the roster spot vacated by Cam Sanders, who was optioned to Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Bidois will be looking to make his major-league debut with his next appearance. He pitched across three levels of the minors last season and has a 7.20 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB across 15 innings with Indianapolis this season.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Not starting Tuesday

Vaughn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Vaughn has gone 3-for-13 with three walks, a double and a homer in five games since coming off the injured list last week, though he finds himself on the bench Tuesday for the second time in Milwaukee's past three contests. Jake Bauers, who has an .850 OPS across 20 at-bats in May, will instead start at first base in the series opener versus San Diego.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Dealing with injury

Manager Don Kelly said Bart, who is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, is "banged up," Chris Halicke of DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.

Bart is sitting for a second consecutive game Tuesday after starting five of Pittsburgh's previous six contests. It's unclear if the 29-year-old is in danger of landing on the injured list. Henry Davis is starting behind the plate and batting ninth in the series opener versus Colorado.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Pages isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics.

Pages will step out of the lineup Tuesday after going 0-for-19 with six strikeouts over his last six games. His absence will give Ivan Herrera a start behind the plate, allowing Yohel Pozo to work as the Cardinals' designated hitter.

  • Owen Caissie OF | MIA

Marlins' Owen Caissie: Still sitting Tuesday

Caissie (triceps) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Manager Clayton McCullough said after Sunday's win over the Nationals that Caissie was likely to be available for Tuesday's series opener, but the outfielder will instead sit out a second consecutive game. The 23-year-old is dealing with left triceps discomfort and should continue to be considered day-to-day.

  • Pirates' Jhostynxon Garcia: Back healthy

Garcia (back) completed his rehab assignment and has returned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Garcia was dealing with lower-back tightness, which had landed him on the 7-day injured list April 17. The Pirates' prospect will look to improve upon the struggles he was going through before the injury stint.

  • Dylan Carlson CF | CHC

Phillies' Dylan Carlson: Inks minors deal with Phillies

Carlson signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Tuesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Carlson was released by the Cubs in early May after slashing .175/.250/.350 over 10 games at Triple-A Iowa, and he'll now get a chance to redeem himself within the Phillies organization. He'll report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley but could work his way into a bench spot with the big club if his hitting improves and/or the Phillies' depth is tested.

  • Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Nearing throwing program

Schwellenbach (elbow) received a positive update when evaluated last week and is expected to start a throwing program soon, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The 25-year-old right-hander has already been ruled out for the first half of the season while recovering from surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow. Still, starting up a throwing program is a major step in Schwellenbach's rehab progression. He'll likely ramp up his throwing slowly once officially cleared before returning to mound.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Unlikely to return Wednesday

Manager Walt Weiss indicated Tuesday Acuna (hamstring) is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring strain but isn't likely to be reinstated from the IL when first eligible Wednesday, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

Acuna was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and landed on the shelf May 3 and began ramping up his rehab work over the weekend. The 28-year-old doesn't appear too far off from being activated from the injured list, though Weiss also said that it will be "some time" before Acuna is reinstated, per Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta.
