Daulton Jefferies SP | PIT
Pirates' Daulton Jefferies: Summoned to serve as 27th man
The Pirates recalled Jefferies from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Jefferies will serve as Pittsburgh's 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader in Detroit. The righty was acquired from the Giants earlier this month and has allowed six runs with a 4:4 K:BB over six innings covering two starts with Indianapolis since the trade. Jefferies will give the Pirates bullpen some length during the doubleheader.

Jake Irvin SP | WAS
Nationals' Jake Irvin: Fans career-high 10 in no-decision
Irvin came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Atlanta, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 10.
Matched up against Atlanta ace Max Fried, Irvin rose to the occasion and set a new career high in Ks while locked in a scoreless pitchers' duel. The quality start was Irvin's sixth of the season, but he hasn't picked up a win in five straight outings despite a 2.45 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 28:4 K:BB through 29.1 innings. The 27-year-old right-hander will look for more support in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Taking seat Wednesday
Moreno is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rangers.
Moreno started the last two contests at catcher but will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon game. Tucker Barnhart and Ryne Nelson will form the Diamondbacks' battery.

Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | MIL
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Sitting against lefty
Bae is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
The lefty-hitting Bae will give way to the right-handed-hitting Michael Taylor in center field while the Tigers send southpaw Tarik Skubal to the bump for the first game of the day. Bae should be back in the starting nine for the second game, when right-hander Keider Montero will start for Detroit.

Edward Olivares RF | PIT
Pirates' Edward Olivares: Playing time picking up
Olivares will start in right field and bat cleanup in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
Olivares looks to be the primary beneficiary from a playing-time standpoint after the Pirates optioned Jack Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday. In the ensuing five games, Olivares has now drawn four starts (three versus lefties, one versus a right-hander).

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Pops third homer
Montero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Tuesday's 13-7 loss to the Guardians.
Montero has made three straight starts since Jordan Beck (hand) landed on the injured list, with two of those starts coming against righties. He's been productive in that short span, driving in four and also scoring four runs. Montero will need to continue to hit to maintain playing time, but the absence of Beck creates the possibility of more regular plate appearances.
-
Donovan Solano 1B | TEX
Padres' Donovan Solano: Three hits in win
Solano went 3-for-4 with an RBI double in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Marlins.
Solano recorded two base hits and then capped off his night with a run-scoring double in the eighth to put the Friars up, 4-0. He's now driven in runs in back-to-back games for the first time this season and has reached base seven times in his last nine plate appearances. The 36-year-old remains a utility depth option for this team and is slashing .375/.474/.531 with three RBI, two runs and a 5:4 K:BB in 38 plate appearances.

Jared Triolo SS | PIT
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Moving into reserve role
Triolo is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
Triolo had served as the Pirates' primary second baseman for most of the season before seeing most of his action at third base over the past three weeks while Ke'Bryan Hayes was on the injured list. Nick Gonzales took over at second base while Hayes was out, and after handily outperforming Triolo at the plate during that stretch, Gonzales appears to have taken over Triolo's everyday role after Hayes was reinstated from the IL on Tuesday. Even though he had started in all but five of the Pirates' first 54 games of the season, Triolo hadn't delivered much fantasy value with a .203 average, three home runs, four stolen bases, 18 RBI and 12 runs. Now that he's likely moving into a part-time role, Triolo may struggle to offer much utility even in NL-only leagues.

Jurickson Profar LF | ATL
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Three RBI in Tuesday's win
Profar went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Marlins.
Profar was the main source of offense for the Padres in this one. He got his night started on the right foot with a two-run blast to center in the first inning and then added on with an RBI single in the fifth. Tuesday was his fifth game this season with three or more RBI, and he remains top five in baseball in both batting average (.323) and on-base percentage (.419).

Oneil Cruz CF | PIT
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Sitting versus lefty
Cruz is absent from the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.
Detroit is sending lefty ace Tarik Skubal to the hill in the first game of the doubleheader, so the left-handed-hitting Cruz will begin the contest on the bench. Cruz should be back in the lineup for second game, when the Tigers will start righty Keider Montero. Alika Williams is garnering the start at shortstop in the first tilt.
