Suarez got the save Tuesday against the Dodgers, allowing one run on three hits over an inning of work. He did not record a strikeout.

Suarez entered with the Padres up 4-1 and quickly made the game interesting, allowing three straight base hits to open up the frame. Suarez was likely on his last batter with Shohei Ohtani on deck and got Miguel Rojas to ground into a 5-4-3 triple play to end the game on one swing. Suarez has now allowed at least run in four of his last eight outings and has given up eight runs over his last eight innings. It doesn't seem as though his grip on the closer's role is slipping away, but the Padres have capable fill-in options in Tanner Scott and Jason Adam if Suarez's struggles continue into the playoffs. Suarez now owns a 2.81 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 35 saves in 64 innings this season.

King (13-9) got the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing one run (zero earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings.

The Dodgers made King work hard to get through five innings and he was done after 95 pitches. King is on a miraculous run of allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last 14 starts and now sits at a 2.95 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 201:63 K:BB in 173.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up to make a start this weekend against the Diamondbacks but it's also possible the Padres skip him in order to save him up for the postseason.

The Reds outrighted Busenitz to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Busenitz passed through waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization for now. He has allowed seven runs (six earned) over four innings during his brief time with the Reds in 2024.

The Reds activated Martini (thumb) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to their Arizona Complex League affiliate Wednesday.

Martini is recovered from his thumb surgery, but the Reds have decided they didn't have a spot for him on their active roster right now. The 34-year-old has slashed .212/.272/.370 over 52 games with Cincinnati this season.

The Reds transferred Williamson (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ian Gibaut, who was activated from the 60-day IL. Williamson is set to undergo Tommy John surgery, which is likely to sideline him until 2026.

India exited in the bottom of the seventh inning of Tuesday's game versus the Guardians and is in concussion protocol after being hit in the head by a pitch, Bally Sports Cincinnati reports.

India initially remained in the game after being beaned with a Tanner Bibee pitch in the fifth inning, but he was later removed. For what it's worth, India indicated after the contest that he expects to be fine, but he will be monitored closely. India went 0-for-1 with a walk before departing.

Steele didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Phillies, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings. He struck out three without issuing a walk.

Steele only threw 62 pitches Tuesday as he continues to work his way back from a three-week absence due to elbow tendinitis. The left-hander will likely wrap up an injury-hampered campaign with a 3.07 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 135:37 K:BB across 134.2 innings.

Marte started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double in Tuesday's 11-0 loss to the Giants.

Marte was held out of Monday's starting lineup, as manager Torey Lovullo indicated the second baseman had been grinding and was in the "red zone." With four games left in the regular season and a playoff spot to be won, Marte is expected to be in the starting lineup every day.

Nelson (shoulder) threw 28 pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Nelson has now completed two side sessions since landing on the injured list, after the right-hander previously threw a 16-pitch session Saturday. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said the team is undecided about whether Nelson could return to the starting rotation or be used as a multi-inning reliever once he makes his way back from the IL. With four games left in the regular season, the bullpen is probably a more realistic landing spot for Nelson if he gets activated.

Schunk went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Schunk's playing time remains inconsistent, but he has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-16 in that span. The infielder is up to a .228/.265/.342 slash line with two homers, five RBI, 12 runs scored and three doubles over 83 plate appearances in the majors this season. He's also struck out at a 30.1 percent rate, which has limited his effectiveness when he gets a look in the lineup.
