  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

    Cubs' Carson Kelly: Idle Saturday

Kelly isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Kelly went 0-for-4 during Chicago's loss in Friday's series opener and will now stay put in the dugout to begin Saturday's contest. Miguel Amaya will replace him behind home plate and bat eighth.

  • Will Brennan RF | SF

Giants' Will Brennan: Back in big leagues

The Giants recalled Brennan from Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

After being sent to Triple-A on Friday, Brennan will turn right back around and rejoin the active roster as an injury replacement for Harrison Bader (foot). Brennan has gone just 2-for-23 at the plate in the majors this season and will likely work primarily as an outfield depth piece.

  • Giants' Harrison Bader: Placed on IL

The Giants placed Bader on the 10-day injured list Saturday with plantar fasciitis.

Bader missed a few weeks earlier in the season due to a hamstring strain, and he's now due for at least another 10 days on the injured list after being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. Drew Gilbert is likely to receive the bulk of starts in center field while Bader is on the shelf, and Will Brennan will rejoin the big club to provide outfield depth.

  • Rockies' Welinton Herrera: Battling elbow inflammation

The Rockies placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to left elbow inflammation.

Herrera pitched just one-third of an inning during his last appearance Friday versus the Giants and seems to have picked up an elbow injury in the process. He'll remain on the shelf until at least June 14, and his spot on the 26-man active roster will go to Ryan Feltner (elbow), who was reinstated from the IL to start Saturday's game against San Francisco.

  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Activated ahead of start

The Rockies reinstated Feltner (elbow) from the injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Giants.

Feltner will return to a big-league mound for the first time since landing on the injured list more than a month ago with right ulnar nerve inflammation. He made a pair of rehab starts before coming off the IL, allowing just one earned run while striking out nine batters in 8.2 total innings between Double-A and Triple-A. He'll now be tasked with limiting a surging Giants offense that's posted a .762 OPS over its last 10 games. Welinton Herrera (elbow) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Max Lazar RP | PHI

Phillies' Max Lazar: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Phillies reinstated Lazar (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

A left oblique strain sent Lazar to the injured list at the start of the regular season, though he was cleared to begin playing in rehab games in late April. The 26-year-old gave up nine runs (four earned) during his time in the minors while striking out 11 batters and walking five over 13.1 innings. He'll stay put at Lehigh Valley now that he's fully healthy, but there's a good chance he'll rejoin the big club at some point to provide a fresh bullpen arm. Zach Pop (calf) was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Reds' Dane Myers: Scratched with illness

Myers was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta due to an illness, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Myers' illness will prevent him from starting Saturday, but he'll likely need to miss just a day or two before returning to action. TJ Friedl will enter the lineup as Cincinnati's center fielder and bat ninth.

  • Giants' Harrison Bader: Riding pine Saturday

Bader isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Colorado, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bader notched a base hit and an RBI in Friday's series opener, but he'll retreat to the bench to begin Saturday's contest. While he sits, Casey Schmitt, Drew Gilbert and Jung Hoo Lee will form San Francisco's outfield trio.

  • Giants' Daniel Susac: Getting break Saturday

Susac isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Susac will get a chance to regroup after going 0-for-14 with four strikeouts across his last four games. Eric Haase will handle catching duties Saturday and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Kyle Nicolas: Removed from 40-man

The Reds designated Nicolas for assignment Saturday.

Nicolas has been at Triple-A Louisville since late April, but he'll now also lose his place on the 40-man roster in order to make room for Lyon Richardson, who was selected to the active roster Saturday. Nicolas gave up seven earned runs in just 7.1 innings during his time with the big club and hasn't performed much better in the minors, accumulating a 5.17 ERA and 2.24 WHIP in 15.2 frames.
