Thompson (lat) has resumed a throwing program at the Cardinals' spring training facility in Florida, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Thompson was shut down for a while after suffering a setback with his left lat strain last month. The southpaw will be built back up slowly and likely will not be an option for the Cardinals until sometime in the second half. Thompson has been sidelined all season.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Civale will move to the bullpen for the time being, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers are calling up right-hander Jacob Misiorowski from Triple-A Nashville to join the rotation Thursday, and Murphy wants to stick with a traditional five-man setup, so Civale will be the odd man out. Civale could eventually rejoins the rotation if Misiorowski struggles, although the Brewers hope to get Brandon Woodruff (shoulder/ankle/elbow) back from the 60-day injured list in the coming weeks.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Yelich is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta due to renewed swelling in his right wrist, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Yelich first injured his wrist June 1, when he left a 5-2 win over the Phillies after being hit by a pitch. He returned to the lineup a day later and had started seven straight games, slashing .240/.345/.360 with a home run and four walks during that stretch. However, Murphy said that Yelich aggravated the wrist injury on a slide over the weekend, and after starting in Monday's 7-1 loss to Atlanta, Yelich will wind up taking a seat for the final two games of the series. Per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, X-rays on Yelich's wrist have returned negative, and he isn't expected to be sent in for imaging on the wrist. Instead, the Brewers will have him take some swings in batting practice Wednesday with the hope that he'll demonstrate enough improvement to rejoin the lineup at some point during the team's four-game series with the Cardinals that begins Thursday.

Single-A Carolina placed Adamczewski on its 7-day injured list May 28 due to left SC joint irritation in his back, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

On a talent-laden Carolina roster, Adamczewski shined brightly through the first month of the season, slashing .360/.450/.539 with two home runs and one stolen base in 111 plate appearances over his first 24 games. However, he hadn't played since May 2 before he was placed on the injured list almost four weeks later. Carolina hasn't offered up a timeline for Adamczewski to make his return to the lineup.

Haase will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Though top backstop William Contreras remains in the lineup Wednesday, he's serving as the Brewers' designated hitter, which opens a starting role up for Haase in the series finale. Haase will be making his first start since June 4 and just his second since May 27, as Contreras continues to shoulder one of the heavier workloads among all catchers in the big leagues.

Yelich is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Though the Brewers haven't indicated that Yelich is nursing with an injury, his absence from the lineup against a right-handed starting pitcher (Spencer Schwellenbach) for the second game in a row suggests he's dealing with something. Manager Pat Murphy will likely shed more light on Yelich's condition later Wednesday, but for now, the three-time All-Star can be viewed as day-to-day. With Yelich on the bench, William Contreras will get a day off from catching duties and will serve as Milwaukee's designated hitter.

Henry (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, giving up an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter.

Taking the mound in the bottom of the 10th inning with the score tied 4-4, Henry's first pitch was laced into right field by Jeff McNeil to bring home the phantom runner from second base. Henry has emerged as a reliable relief option for the Nationals this season, posting a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 25:13 K:BB through his first 23.1 big-league innings, but he remains on the fringes of the team's high-leverage crew -- he has zero wins or saves and only two holds in 22 appearances.

Kemp is starting at first base in Wednesday's game against the Cubs and is expected to mostly play that position for the Phillies while Bryce Harper (wrist) is sidelined, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Kemp's first four major-league starts came at third base, but the Phillies have decided to move Alec Bohm back to the hot corner and install Kemp at first base. The 25-year-old Kemp's playing time at first base in the minors has been relatively limited, although he has made seven starts at the position this season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Bart (concussion) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Bart resumed on-field activities a week ago but remained in the concussion protocol, but his assignment to Indianapolis implies that he's no longer dealing with any lingering symptoms of the head injury he suffered May 28. The 28-year-old will likely need at least a couple games in the minors to get his timing back at the plate, but he could be ready to return from the injured list at some point this weekend.

The Pirates optioned Nicolas to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

He'll cede his spot in the bullpen to right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski, who was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move and will provide the Pirates with a multi-inning option in relief. Nicolas made three appearances after his June 3 promotion, giving up one earned run on three hits and one walk over 4.1 innings.
