Joey Wiemer RF | WAS
Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Headed to majors
The Marlins will recall Wiemer from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Sunday's game in Boston, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
The move isn't official, but Wiemer will come up to replace Kyle Stowers (oblique), who is headed to the 10-day injured list. The righty-hitting Wiemer has batted .375 with two home runs, one steal and a 7:7 K:BB in 40 plate appearances at Jacksonville since the Marlins claimed him off waivers Aug. 4. The Marlins will have a handful of outfielders vying for work with Stowers set to miss multiple weeks, but Wiemer could provide power and speed in the short term if he takes command of a regular spot in the lineup.

Nabil Crismatt RP | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nabil Crismatt: Slated for start Sunday
The Diamondbacks plan to call up Crismatt from Triple-A Reno to start Sunday's game against the Rockies, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.
Crismatt has worked almost exclusively as a reliever during his time in the majors, but he was a full-time starter with Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies system until he was released in early August. Over 19 starts with Lehigh Valley, he posted a 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 68:25 K:BB across 100.1 innings while averaging over five frames per outing. He covered just two innings in his first start with Reno on Wednesday, so he should be relatively fresh Sunday, despite pitching on three days' rest. Arizona is in need of a fifth starter after Anthony DeSclafani landed on the injured list Wednesday due to an injured thumb.

Kyle Stowers LF | MIA
Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Out several weeks with side strain
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that Stowers will be placed on the injured list and is slated to miss "several weeks" due to a Grade 1 left side strain, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
After Stowers wasn't included in the lineup prior to Saturday's game against the Red Sox, McCullough indicated that the outfielder's absence was precautionary, per Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network. However, that outlook has shifted significantly, as Stowers is now headed to the IL and is expected to be sidelined for more than the 10-day minimum. The loss of Stowers is a major blow to Miami's offense, as he had broken out this season with 25 home runs, 73 RBI, 51 runs scored and five stolen bases through 117 games. Heriberto Hernandez started in left field against Boston on Saturday and could get the bulk of the opportunities at that position until Stowers is able to return to action.

Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Goes on IL due to blood clot
The Phillies placed Wheeler on the 15-day injured list Saturday after he was diagnosed with a blood clot in his right shoulder.
The issue may partially explain why Wheeler has uncharacteristically struggled of late; over his past six starts, he's posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, a timetable for the right-hander hurler's return is unclear, and how soon Wheeler is able to throw again likely depends on how the blood clots respond to treatment. The IL stint no doubt damages Wheeler's run at the NL Cy Young Award, as he had been a top contender after registering a 2.71 ERA and 0.94 WHIP along with an MLB-leading 195 strikeouts over 24 starts spanning 149.2 innings.

Antonio Senzatela RP | COL
Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Tabbed to start Sunday
Senzatela (finger) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks in Colorado, Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports.
Senzatela landed on the injured list Aug. 2 due to a blister on his pitching hand, but he appears to be past that issue and will be activated after a minimum-length stay on the shelf. The right-hander has struggled this season, posting a 7.34 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 55:38 K:BB over 103 innings spanning 22 appearances (21 starts). He won't be a recommended streaming option in his return or likely at any point moving forward.

Tyler Freeman RF | COL
Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Beginning on bench Saturday
Freeman is out of the starting lineup Saturday versus Arizona.
Freeman will get a rest after starting five straight games, during which he went 8-for-20 with a walk and two stolen bases. He's been starting primarily in right field of late, but that role will go to Yanquiel Fernandez on Saturday.

Aaron Schunk 3B | ATL
Rockies' Aaron Schunk: Returns to minors
Schunk was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Schunk had been called up Aug. 8 in the wake of Orlando Arcia (elbow) landing on the injured list, but the former will return to the minors with the latter being activated Saturday. Schunk didn't see many opportunities in his latest big-league stint, logging just four hitless plate appearances across five games. Overall this season, Schunk has posted a paltry .407 OPS with 10 strikeouts over 33 plate appearances while up with the big-league club.

Orlando Arcia 2B | MIN
Rockies' Orlando Arcia: Comes off IL
The Rockies activated Arcia (elbow) off the injured list Saturday.
Arcia missed the minimum 10 games while on the IL due to right elbow inflammation. Though he's now healthy enough to return to action, he may be reduced to a part-time role given that Kyle Karros has hit well while manning the hot corner after being promoted in the wake of Arcia's IL stint. Aaron Schunk was sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday to clear room for Arcia's return to the 26-man roster.

Willson Contreras 1B | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Could be option off bench Saturday
Contreras (foot) is going through a pre-game workout Saturday and could be available to pinch hit later in the day against the Yankees, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Denton also reports that Contreras may be ready to return to the starting lineup Sunday if the workout Saturday goes well. The veteran first baseman was hit by a pitch on the foot Tuesday and hasn't played since. Alec Burleson has started each of St. Louis' three games at first base since Contreras has been sidelined.

Carmen Mlodzinski SP | PIT
Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Slated to start bullpen game
Mlodzinski will serve as the Pirates' opening pitcher in a bullpen game Sunday against the Cubs, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Mlodzinski will open what's expected to be a bullpen game Sunday after expected starter Andrew Heaney was shifted to the bullpen Friday. Mlodzinski is capable of pitching multiple innings, but he's unlikely to pitch deep enough into Sunday's contest to qualify for a win.
