  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Nursing ankle sprain

The Marlins placed Tarnok on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, with a sprained left ankle.

Tarnok has given up two earned runs in 5.1 innings since coming up from Triple-A Jacksonville, but he's now due to remain sidelined until at least Sept. 18. Christian Roa was selected from Triple-A to fill the open spot in Miami's bullpen.

  • Luke Williams 2B | ATL

    Braves' Luke Williams: Clears waivers

Williams cleared waivers Saturday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports.

Williams will officially remain in the Atlanta organization after being designated for assignment Thursday. The 29-year-old utility man has been a liability at the plate in both MLB and Triple-A this year, though his versatility could become valuable if Atlanta's depth is tested down the stretch.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Absent from lineup

Turner isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Turner has tallied 13 hits over his last six games and recorded at least one hit in 22 of his last 24 contests. He'll receive a rare day off Saturday while Edmundo Sosa starts at shortstop and bats eighth.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Doubles in win

Schmitt went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-2 win over the Cardinals.

Schmitt doubled in the fourth inning and added an RBI single in the seventh. With that, the 26-year-old infielder recorded his second multi-hit performance over his last three outings. He's slashing .241/.313/.409 with 33 RBI, 28 runs scored and 10 homers across 285 plate appearances this season.

  • Jung Hoo Lee RF | SF

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Logs four hits in victory

Lee went 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's 8-2 win over the Cardinals.

Lee tallied three singles and an RBI triple, marking his second four-hit performance of the season. The 27-year-old outfielder has been consistent over the past month-plus, slashing .333/.378/.486 with 16 runs scored, eight doubles, six RBI, three triples, three stolen bases and one home run in 119 plate appearances over 29 outings since Aug. 1. Overall, he's slashing .267/.330/.414 with 66 runs scored, 49 RBI, 10 stolen bases and seven long balls across 551 plate appearances this season.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes deep in loss Friday

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Baltimore on Friday.

Freeman was the only Dodger with multiple knocks on a day when the team's struggling offense managed just five hits in total. The All-Star first baseman also accounted for Los Angeles' only run with his solo blast in the sixth inning. Freeman hasn't been immune to the Dodgers' struggles, as he's batting just .225 over his past 40 at-bats. However, he's knocked three homers, driven in five runs and recorded a 5:3 BB:K over that span.

  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Cubs' Kyle Tucker: Sitting again Saturday

Tucker (calf) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Tucker will miss a third straight start since leaving Tuesday's game early with a left calf injury. Manager Craig Counsell previously expressed optimism that the star outfielder would rejoin the lineup at some point this weekend, but a trip to the injured list could be coming if Tucker doesn't return soon. Willi Castro will cover right field for the Cubs on Saturday.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Sitting down Saturday

Adams isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Adams will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-3 with a walk during Friday's loss. Jorge Alfaro will fill in as Washington's catcher and bat third.

  • Daylen Lile LF | WAS

Nationals' Daylen Lile: Two more triples Friday

Lile went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's loss to the Cubs.

He has an eye-popping seven three-baggers to lead all rookies on the season, despite playing only 70 games for the Nationals so far in 2025. Lile has caught fire after the All-Star break, and over his last 32 contests he's slashing .330/.368/.504 with 13 extra-base hits (seven doubles, five triples and a homer), five steals, 16 RBI and 19 runs.

  • Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Pops first career homer

Navarreto launched a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Entering the game in the eighth inning with the Marlins getting routed 9-1, Navarreto got hold of a Tanner Banks fastball for his first career big-league homer. It was the first appearance for the 30-year-old backstop since he was added to the roster at the beginning of September, and his playing time will likely remain scarce with Agustin Ramirez and Liam Hicks getting most of the catcher reps for Miami.
