Paredes went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional RBI in Friday's win over the Athletics.

Paredes was responsible for the majority of the Astros' offense Friday, launching a three-run homer in the bottom of the first and later plating another run with a sac fly that scored Christian Walker in the third. Paredes has also homered in three games in a row and is up to nine long balls on the season, with four of those coming in an eight-game stretch in which he's posted a 1.103 OPS.

Avila is slated to start Saturday's game against the Twins.

After primarily working out of the bullpen throughout the season, Avila moved into the rotation this past Monday against the Reds. Avila came through with a serviceable performance in Cincinnati, picking up a win while striking out five batters and giving up one earned run on two hits and four walks across five innings. Avila tossed 86 pitches in that contest, so he should be capable of handling a traditional starter's workload moving forward.

Perkins (2-3) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Astros, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks across four innings. He struck out six.

The six punchouts represent the second-best mark in that category for Perkins this season, but overall, he wasn't very good in his return to the rotation while throwing just 49 of his 75 pitches for strikes. Considering that Aaron Civale (shoulder) and Luis Severino (shoulder) will remain on the injured list for several more weeks, Perkins' spot in the rotation should be safe for now. He should be making his next start in a tough matchup at home against the Brewers.

Castillo is slated to start Sunday's game against the Tigers, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Castillo and Bryce Miller worked in tandem in each of the previous three turns through the rotation, but both pitchers will receive standalone starts during the final two games of the series in Detroit. Though he currently maintains an ugly 5.53 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season, Castillo took some steps forward over his last two outings, covering nine innings between a start and relief appearance behind Miller while striking out nine batters and yielding two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks. Mariners manager Dan Wilson hasn't outlined his plans for the rotation beyond this weekend, so Castillo could need another positive showing in Detroit to avoid falling back into a piggyback arrangement with Miller or shifting into a full-time bullpen role.

He hasn't tossed more than 83 pitches or 5.2 innings in any of those outings, but Miller could have a longer leash Saturday since Castillo won't be piggybacking him.

Latz notched his ninth save of the season in Friday's win over the Guardians. He tossed two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.

Latz entered the game in the eighth inning and recorded the final six outs while throwing 21 of his 35 pitches for strikes. He has a tight grip on the closer role and has recorded a save in each of his last four trips to the mound, a span in which he's posted an 8:1 K:BB across 5.1 innings. On the season, Latz has gone 9-for-11 in save chances.

Neto went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and two stolen bases in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Neto missed the previous three games while dealing with whiplash. The shortstop was able to make an impact on the basepaths in a game that lacked offense on both sides. Neto is 12-for-37 (.324) over his last 11 contests, but he's batting just .232 with a .768 OPS on the year. He's added 10 home runs, 10 steals, 27 RBI, 42 runs scored, 14 doubles and a triple through 61 games overall.

Detmers allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Detmers threw 58 of 91 pitches for strikes while dueling with Roki Sasaki in a low-scoring game. Over his last three starts, Detmers has allowed just four runs on eight hits and five walks while racking up 27 strikeouts across 19 innings. There's still some volatility, and playing for the Angels makes wins hard to come by. He's at a 4.26 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 88:24 K:BB through 74 innings across 13 starts this season. The southpaw's next start is projected to be at home versus the Astros.

Diaz signed a major-league contract with the Rangers on Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Diaz was DFA'd by the Royals on May 22 after going 5-for-22 with two homers, five RBI and an additional run scored in 10 games with the big club. It didn't take long for him to land his next opportunity after electing free agency Wednesday, and he will now report directly to the big-league club. It's unclear how the Rangers will divide playing time between Diaz, Danny Jansen and Kyle Higashioka, but Diaz's hot start to the season could buy him an occasional start behind the dish.

Miles will work as a bulk reliever during Saturday's game against the Orioles, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Miles gave up six earned runs in just three innings while working as a traditional starter last Sunday on the road in Baltimore, so the Blue Jays will move him back into a bulk-relief role for a rematch with the Orioles at Rogers Centre. Right-hander Braydon Fisher will open the game for Toronto, likely working the first inning or two before handing the ball over to Miles, who owns a 2.37 ERA and 1.05 WHIP as a reliever this season.
