Gray is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Since Brooks Lee made the full-time shift over to third base in late May, Gray has occupied the strong side of a platoon at shortstop. However, his grip on that role may be loosening, as he'll cede the position to Ryan Kreidler for a second straight game while the Twins face off against right-hander Jose Cabrera. Gray has been stuck in an extended funk at the plate, going 3-for-24 with a 1:9 BB:K over his last eight games to bring his season-long slash line down to .241/.283/.361.

Bell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Unless he's used off the bench, the red-hot Bell will put a six-game hitting streak on hold while the Twins give Byron Buxton a turn in the designated hitter spot for the series finale. Bell has recorded at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games, slashing an impressive .362/.400/.681 with four home runs, 14 RBI and nine runs over that stretch.

The Athletics selected Krook's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.

The left-hander re-signed with the A's on a minor-league deal in November and failed to make the Opening Day roster, but he'll get a chance in the majors after posting a 3.72 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 42:16 K:BB across 29 relief innings for Las Vegas. Krook has eight big-league appearances under his belt since debuting in 2023 and has struggled in that limited sample size, giving up 15 earned runs with an 8:8 K:BB.

Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Caratini will get a breather for the series finale after he drew starts behind the dish in each of the previous three games. Alex Jackson will handle the catching duties for Minnesota on Sunday.

The Athletics optioned Williams to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.

Williams has been productive through 14 games in June with six extra-base hits and a .343/.378/.571 slash line, but he'll still lose his roster spot. Joey Meneses was added to the big-league roster Sunday and is starting at designated hitter in the series finale versus the Angels.

The Rays reinstated Grove (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

Tampa Bay will give Grove some more time in the minors to round into form following March 2025 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The 29-year-old had looked good over the course of his eight rehab appearances between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Durham, compiling a 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB across 12.2 innings.

Seager (concussion) took part in defensive drills on the field prior to Sunday's game against the Padres, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Though he remains on the 7-day injured list, Seager's ability to take part in a pregame workout suggests he's progressing in his recovery from a mild concussion. Seager is slated to travel with the Rangers during their upcoming 10-game road swing, but it's unclear if he'll be able to clear the protocol and make his return from the IL at any point during that trip.

Lopez will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Padres.

Lopez will remain in the starting nine for a third straight game after he went 2-for-7 over the first two contests of the series. The 31-year-old journeyman could be in store for a regular role until Texas gets Corey Seager (concussion) back from the 7-day injured list.

The Athletics selected Meneses' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, and he's batting sixth as the designated hitter against the Angels.

The 34-year-old will immediately enter the starting nine after getting called up for his first stint in the big leagues since 2024. Meneses has taken advantage of the hitter-friendly environment of the Pacific Coast League this year with a .348/.401/.539 slash line in 69 games.

Fry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Fry had drawn four consecutive starts from Saturday through Thursday, but he's been on the bench for all three games of the Guardians' weekend series in Houston. Each of those absences have come against right-handed pitchers, so Fry appears as though he'll remain in a short-side platoon role even while Jose Ramirez (hand), Angel Martinez (foot) and Chase DeLauter (ribs) are on the IL.
