  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Three hits in extra-inning win

Semien went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Twins.

Semien has gone 10-for-34 (.294) during a seven-game hitting streak since he returned to the leadoff spot. This was his second multi-hit effort in that span, and he's added four RBI and five runs scored. The second baseman has had a bit of a challenging year, posting a .245/.314/.406 slash line with 18 home runs, 61 RBI, 78 runs scored and three stolen bases over 123 contests, but he's never looked at risk of losing his starting job.

  • Joe Boyle SP | TB

Athletics' Joe Boyle: Getting another start

Boyle is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Rays at Oakland Coliseum.

After getting recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas last Tuesday, Boyle immediately stepped into the rotation as a replacement for Ross Stripling, who was sent to the bullpen. In his first start for Oakland since May 5, Boyle took a no-decision in a 9-4 win over the Mets, striking out six over four innings while allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks. Through eight outings overall in the big leagues this season, Boyle owns a 2-5 record and 7.39 ERA across 31.2 innings.

  • Jacob Latz RP | TEX

Rangers' Jacob Latz: Set for rehab assignment

Latz (forearm) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Sunday.

Latz has been sidelined since Aug. 2 and began throwing off a mound Thursday. He's been used in relatively short stints out of the bullpen, so his rehab assignment shouldn't be particularly lengthy.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Provides two key hits in win

Jung went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Twins.

Jung put the Rangers ahead for the first time with a seventh-inning solo shot. That lead didn't hold, but he added a single in the 10th inning that forced an error and led to the winning run scoring. Jung has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 11-for-43 (.256) in that span, though his homer was his first since Aug. 4. The third baseman is slashing .274/.295/.476 with four homers, nine RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles, a triple and one stolen base over 21 contests this season.

  • Adolis Garcia RF | PHI

Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Hits game-tying homer

Garcia went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Twins.

Garcia's seventh-inning homer tied the game at 4-4. He was also the initial runner in the 10th inning, scoring the winning run on a Josh Jung single. Garcia has three multi-hit efforts, two homers and five RBI over his last five contests, and he's now hitting .345 (20-for-58) in August. For the year, the outfielder has a .227/.290/.410 slash line, 21 homers, 62 RBI, 61 runs scored, 19 doubles and 10 stolen bases over 119 games.

  • Kirby Yates RP | PIT

Rangers' Kirby Yates: Blown save Sunday versus Twins

Yates allowed a run on one hit and struck out two over one inning, taking a blown save in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Twins.

The Rangers had a five-run rally in the seventh inning to sneak ahead, but Yates couldn't protect the one-run lead in the ninth. He allowed a solo home run to Carlos Santana, which gave Yates his first blown save in 22 opportunities this year. The closer has still pitched incredibly well with a 1.36 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 66:22 K:BB over 46.1 innings this year, but he's allowed three runs (two earned) over eight innings in August.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Rangers' Tyler Mahle: Chased after three innings

Mahle allowed four runs on six hits and struck out one without walking a batter over three innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday.

Mahle struggled early, giving up three runs in the first inning to his former team. Ryan Jeffers had a two-run blast in that frame and an RBI single in the third, and Mahle was done at 61 pitches (41 strikes), making this the shortest of his three starts since he returned from Tommy John surgery. He's pitched to a 4.97 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings in those appearances. He's tentatively projected for a road start in Cleveland in his next outing.

  • Red Sox's Kristian Campbell: Promoted again

The Red Sox promoted Campbell from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Campbell will get his second promotion of the season after opening the campaign at High-A Greenville. The 22-year-old infielder was impressive during his time at Portland, maintaining a 197 wRC+ and .470 wOBA across 251 plate appearances. He's combined to hit 16 home runs and steal 20 bases over 95 games between Portland and Greenville this season.

  • Joey Loperfido LF | HOU

Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido: Homers for lone run in win

Loperfido went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Cubs.

The homer was Loperfido's third of the year and his first as a Blue Jay since he was traded from the Astros at the deadline. The outfielder has gone just 7-for-42 (.167) with 17 strikeouts over 12 contests in August. Loperfido is slashing a meager .216/.271/.333 with 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and three stolen bases across 167 plate appearances this year.

  • Chad Green RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Collects 13th save

Green allowed a hit over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Cubs.

Green has given up a run in three of his last five outings, but he's picked up four saves and one loss in that span. The veteran right-hander continues to handle the closing duties fairly well for the Blue Jays while Jordan Romano (elbow) works back from arthroscopic surgery. Green is up to 13 saves this year while adding seven holds, a 3-3 record, 1.82 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 33:11 K:BB across 39.2 innings.
