Guardians' Matthew Boyd: Earns first win
Boyd (1-0) yielded a run on three hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out four and picking up a win over Texas.
Boyd didn't allow a runner to reach scoring position until the fifth inning, resulting in an RBI double from Jonah Heim. It was Boyd's third MLB appearance since returning from Tommy John surgery, and he earned his first win. He completed six innings for the first time while delivering a quality start. Through three outings, Boyd owns a 2.70 ERA with a 12:5 K:BB. He's currently in line for a home matchup against the Pirates next weekend.

Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE
Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Fans side for save
Clase struck out all three batters he faced to record a save against Texas on Sunday.
Clase fired nine of his 12 pitches for strikes to easily mow through the Rangers' 4-5-6 hitters. It was his first save chance since converting a save on four straight days from Aug. 10 to Aug. 13. He's delivered 18 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run, lowering his ERA to 0.60 through 60.1 innings. Clase has converted 38 of his 41 save chances and is nearing his third straight 40-save campaign.

Brant Hurter RP | DET
Tigers' Brant Hurter: Getting starting nod Tuesday
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Hurter will start Tuesday's game against the Angels in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Hurter had been making regular turns through the Detroit rotation since his Aug. 4 call-up from Triple-A Toledo, but Hinch had deployed the left-hander as a bulk reliever behind an opener on each of his first four big-league appearances. The 25-year-old rookie has fared well in that capacity, ringing up a 3.57 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 17:1 K:BB, and the Tigers now appear motivated to see if he can maintain that form while operating in a traditional starting role. A banged-up Tigers pitching staff will get some reinforcements in the rotation this week with the promotion of prospect Ty Madden from Triple-A and with Casey Mize's (hamstring) expected return from the 60-day injured list, but Hurter should have a case for sticking around in a starting role the rest of the season if he continues to impress Tuesday.

Casey Mize SP | SD
Tigers' Casey Mize: Completes fourth rehab start
Mize (hamstring) struck out seven and allowed three earned runs on three hits and no walks over 4.2 innings in his rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Toledo.
Mize didn't perform quite as dominantly as he did in his prior three rehab outings, but he racked up 13 swinging strikes in the contest, and most importantly, built up to 78 pitches. Overall, Mize turned in a 2.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings across his four outings with Toledo, and he now looks ready to return from the 60-day injured list this upcoming weekend when first eligible. The Tigers could reinsert Mize into the rotation as soon as Friday's series opener versus the Red Sox in Detroit.

Mason Englert RP | TB
Tigers' Mason Englert: Returns from IL
Triple-A Iowa reinstated Englert (elbow) from its 7-day injured list Thursday.
Englert made his first appearance for Toledo since July 4 later that day, striking out one over a scoreless inning in the club's 5-3 loss to Iowa. The right-hander possesses a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster, but he may not be in the mix for a call-up anytime soon after posting a 5.95 ERA in 19.2 innings with the big club before getting optioned to the minors June 25 and then getting hurt shortly thereafter.

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Drives in four in win
Torres went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI, a walk and two total runs scored in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Rockies.

The second baseman has been mired in a down year overall, slashing .241/.319/.357 through 124 contests. He's at just 11 homers and 49 RBI in 2024 after posting 25 long balls and 68 RBI in 158 games a year ago.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Completes trifecta of homers
Stanton went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Rockies.
The Yankees' big sluggers were at their best in the seventh inning, as Stanton had the third of three consecutive homers, following Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. This was Stanton's third game in a row with a long ball, giving him 23 on the year. The slugger is up to a .245/.305/.495 slash line with 57 RBI, 41 runs scored and 13 doubles across 88 contests this season, which is decent production given his downward trend over the previous two campaigns.

Luke Raley RF | SEA
Mariners' Luke Raley: Dealing with illness
Raley was scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Giants as a result of flu-like symptoms, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Raley was absent from Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Giants, which is now understood to have been due to an illness. The outfielder can be considered day-to-day ahead of the Mariners' three-game series at home with the Rays beginning Monday.

Yankees' Juan Soto: Clubs homer Sunday
Soto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Sunday's 10-3 win over the Rockies.
Soto knocked in a run with an RBI single in the second inning, then started a sequence of back-to-back-to-back homers in the seventh. While Soto is hitting just .182 (6-for-33) over his last nine games, three of those hits have been homers. The star outfielder has a .299/.429/.606 slash line, 37 long balls, 95 RBI, 108 runs scored and five stolen bases over 127 contests this year.

With Sunday's impressive effort, Judge is up to 51 homers this year, crossing the half-century mark for the third time in his career. He's added a magnificent .333/.465/.736 slash line, an MLB-best 122 RBI, 104 runs scored, 30 doubles and six stolen bases over 129 contests.
