The Mariners recalled Hancock from Triple-A Tacoma ahead of his scheduled start Thursday against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Seattle optioned reliever Will Klein to Triple-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Hancock, who will begin his second stint of the season with the big club. With George Kirby (shoulder) opening the season on the injured list, Hancock broke camp as the Mariners' No. 5 starter but was sent back to Triple-A after getting lit up for six earned runs while retiring just two batters in his lone start March 31 versus the Tigers. The Mariners then turned to Luis F. Castillo to fill the fifth spot in the rotation, but Seattle will go back to Hancock after Castillo found little success through his two starts before being optioned to Triple-A. Hancock delivered strong results at Tacoma following his demotion, posting a 3.72 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB over 9.2 innings.

Klein was with the big club for only one day and did not make an appearance. He is making room on the roster for Emerson Hancock, who has been recalled to start Thursday in Cincinnati.

Walker went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Walker hasn't produced much this season, as he's collected only 10 hits across 65 at-bats with two extra-base knocks. He is also hitless across seven of his last nine starts. If there is a positive to take away, Walker has struck out multiple times in only one of his last six games after doing so seven times in his first 11 matchups.

Rodgers went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Thursday against the Cardinals.

Rodgers was in the lineup for the first time since April 9 after dealing with a hip issue. He retook the starting job at second base and hit sixth, also pushing Mauricio Dubon back to the bench.

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double against the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Diaz is hitting just .130 across his first 57 plate appearances this season, and he had only two hits across his first 33 at-bats. He's picked things up slightly of late, collecting five hits across his last 21 at-bats. While his surface stats are concerning, Diaz's bat skills are fine, highlighted by a 12.2 percent barrel rate.

Sosa went 2-for-4 with a double Wednesday against the Athletics.

Sosa's overall numbers aren't particularly impressive, but he quietly hit well during the White Sox's home stand. Across five starts, he's gone 6-for-19 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Sosa can't be counted on for much power, but he should remain a regular so long as Josh Rojas (toe) is sidelined.

Weissert (1-0) struck out three over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Tampa Bay.

Boston's bullpen dominated the Rays with Weissert kicking off the effort. He entered in the bottom of the fifth inning with two on and two out and struck out Yandy Diaz after falling behind 2-0. The righty then set down all three hitters in the sixth, including two by strikeout. It was the eighth scoreless appearance out of nine for Weissert, who owns a 2.08 ERA with 11 strikeouts and one walk over 8.2 innings.

Whitlock allowed one hit and struck out four over two scoreless innings to earn a hold in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Rays.

The Red Sox received stellar work from the bullpen, which allowed one hit and struck out nine over 4.1 innings. Whitlock, who made his fifth multi-inning appearance, threw 24 pitches (21 strikes) to navigate the seventh and eighth innings for his second hold. That set up the save for Justin Slaten. Whitlock sports a 2.31 ERA with nine hits and four walks allowed while striking out 15 over 11.2 innings (seven outings).

O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-1 win over Cleveland.

O'Hearn extended Baltimore's lead to 6-1 in the eighth inning with a 396-foot blast off Triston McKenzie, his second homer of the year. The 31-year-old O'Hearn has gone 4-for-9 in his last three games, boosting his slash line to .302/.388/.512 with seven runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base through his first 49 plate appearances this season.

Laureano went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Guardians.

Making a second straight start (his first against a right-hander), Laureano extended Baltimore's lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning with a 393-foot shot off Gavin Williams, his first homer with the Orioles. Laureano could see a short-term boost in playing time with Tyler O'Neill (neck) banged up, though the majority of his playing time figures to come against left-handed pitching. The 30-year-old Laureano is just 2-for-16 (.125) with a .489 OPS through his first 17 plate appearances this year.
