Evan Carter CF | TEX
Rangers' Evan Carter: Sitting out versus Skubal
Carter is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit.
It's not yet clear whether Carter will be in a strict platoon in center field, but he's sitting out Friday versus lefty Tarik Skubal after starting each of the previous three contests against righties. Sam Haggerty is in center field and batting leadoff for the Rangers in the series opener.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Out of lineup again Friday
Seager is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit.
Seager getting a day off when the Tigers send lefty Tarik Skubal to the bump isn't necessarily unexpected. However, Seager didn't start Thursday's game in Boston, either, so he might be dealing with some sort of physical issue. Josh Smith is at shortstop and hitting seventh Friday.

Buck Farmer RP | CIN
Angels' Buck Farmer: Nabs MiLB deal from Halos
The Angels signed Farmer to a minor-league contract Friday.
Farmer was released by Atlanta last month after allowing five runs (four earned) with a 7:4 K:BB over 4.2 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett. He'll be assigned to the Angels' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should move up to Triple-A Salt Lake soon.

Royce Lewis 1B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Out of lineup Friday
Lewis is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.
Lewis made his season debut Tuesday and started all three games against the Orioles, going 0-for-9 with one strikeout and one walk. He'll get a breather against Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks. Brooks Lee is making the start at third base and batting in the cleanup spot for Minnesota.

Sam Haggerty LF | TEX
Rangers' Sam Haggerty: Added to big-league roster
The Rangers selected Haggerty's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Haggerty inked a minor-league deal with Texas during the offseason after missing most of last season due to an Achilles injury, and he's enjoyed a strong start to 2025 at Round Rock with a .313/.383/.398 slash line and seven steals in 22 games. The 30-year-old will provide the Rangers with some outfield depth, though he's also seen action at first, second and third base during his big-league career. He's starting in center field and batting leadoff for the Rangers on Friday in Detroit.

Keider Montero SP | DET
Tigers' Keider Montero: Sent back down after spot start
The Tigers optioned Montero to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
Montero was up as the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Rockies and dazzled in a spot start, spinning eight frames of one-run ball at Coors Field. He'll rejoin the rotation at Toledo but will be the top option the next time the Tigers need a spot starter.

Erik Swanson RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Cleared for rehab assignment
Swanson (forearm) was sent to the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate Friday to begin a rehab assignment.
Swanson had been slated to start a rehab assignment in late April before encountering a setback. However, an MRI on his injured right forearm came back negative at the beginning of the month and he's ready to give it another shot. Swanson is on the 60-day injured list and won't be eligible for activation until late May, even if his rehab stint goes smoothly.
