Jeffers is not in the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore.

Jeffers will likely start behind the plate in the second game of the twin bill. Christian Vazquez will handle catching duties and bat ninth in the first game of the day.

Vargas went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Vargas was the hero for the White Sox on Tuesday after sending out a three-run homer in the 10th inning to put them ahead 5-1. Vargas drove in his first runs since he last homered May 1 and it was his second game this season with at least three RBI. He's looked much better at the plate over the last few weeks, slashing .328/.414/.541 with three homers, nine RBI, 10 runs and a 9:7 BB:K in 17 games.

Montero allowed three runs on five hits and a walk over 3.1 innings during Tuesday's extra-innings win over Boston. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Montero was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday and worked in a bulk-relief role after Tyler Holton threw 1.2 innings as the opener. Alex Bregman knocked a solo home run in the fourth inning and Boston tallied a pair of runs in the fifth. Montero owns a 4.68 ERA with an 18:11 K:BB through 25 MLB innings. If he sees another turn in the rotation or as a bulk reliever, he'd be lined up to make his next appearance in St. Louis.

The Orioles added McDermott to the taxi squad Wednesday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Presumably, McDermott will be formally recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and will serve as the 27th man for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins. The right-hander has thrown just 9.2 innings in the minors this season after recovering from a lat strain, allowing two runs with a 10:6 K:BB between Double-A Chesapeake and Norfolk.

Cannon tossed six scoreless innings Tuesday against the Reds, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out six. He did not factor into the decision.

Cannon had his best outing of the season and was one strikeout off from tying his career high. He's now gone four straight outings of at least six innings while allowing three runs or fewer and hasn't walked a batter in his last 21 innings. He lowered his ERA to a 3.60 after the stellar effort and lines up to face the Cubs this weekend at Wrigley Field.

The Orioles optioned Carlson to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Carlson is clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of infielder Ramon Urias (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old outfielder has gone hitless in 15 at-bats during his time with the big club this season.

Urias required just a minimum 10-day absence while recovering from a right hamstring strain. With Jordan Westburg (hamstring) still out, Urias should handle the bulk of the reps at third base for Baltimore.

Clement went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Clement led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run for his first homer of the season. He's now registered at least a hit in seven straight games and has 10 hits in his last 20 at-bats. Clement's recent excellent play has raised his average over 50 points in the last week, as he's slashing .275/.302/.367 with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI, 11 runs, two steals and a 5:19 BB:K in 118 plate appearances.

Varsho went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Varsho had a solo home run in the fourth and then a three-run blast in the eighth to put the Blue Jays ahead 7-6. Both long balls had an exit velocity over 113 mph, which were the hardest-hit balls in Varsho's career. He now has five home runs and 11 RBI in 10 games since his season debut April 29, and six of his eight hits on the season so far have gone for extra bases.

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Bichette got the Blue Jays on the board with a two-run homer in the third for his second long ball in his last three games and third in his last nine after he had none in his first 32 games of the year. It seems as if Bichette's power is slowly starting to return, and he's got four extra-base hits, seven RBI and a 6:4 BB:K in his last six games.
