Ryan Bergert SP | KC
Royals' Ryan Bergert: Cleared for throwing
Bergert (elbow) was cleared in November to begin a throwing program, MLB.com reports.
Bergert missed the last couple weeks of the regular season with a right elbow strain, but he's fully recovered and will enter spring training without limitations, barring any setbacks. The 25-year-old posted a 3.66 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 73:35 K:BB across 76.1 innings in 2025 between the Padres and Royals and will have a chance to open the 2026 campaign in the major-league rotation.

Alec Marsh RP | KC
Royals' Alec Marsh: Had labral surgery in October
Marsh underwent surgery in October to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder, MLB.com reports.
Marsh missed the entire 2025 season with shoulder issues and it was concluded last month that surgery was required. He is expected to need around a year to recover, so the right-hander is unlikely to be ready to pitch in a big-league game again until 2027. Marsh posted a 4.53 ERA and 123:39 K:BB over 129 innings for Kansas City in 2024.

Dietrich Enns RP | BAL
Orioles' Dietrich Enns: Re-ups with Baltimore
The Orioles re-signed Enns to a one-year contract with a club option for 2027 on Monday.
Baltimore had a $3 million club option on Enns for 2026, but instead of picking that up it has hammered out a new deal with the left-hander. Enns was acquired by the Orioles via trade in late July and pitched well for them down the stretch, holding a 3.14 ERA and 34:11 K:BB over 28.2 frames. The southpaw will likely open 2026 in the bullpen, though he also offers the flexibility to be used as a starting pitcher.

Lucas Giolito SP | BOS
Red Sox's Lucas Giolito: Declines mutual option
Giolito (elbow) declined the player side of his $19 mutual option for 2026 on Monday, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.
He'll be paid a $1.5 million buyout instead. It's possible the Red Sox will extend Giolito a one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer, and if that happens, there's a non-zero chance the right-hander accepts it. After missing the 2024 season following internal brace surgery, Giolito had a nice bounce-back 2025 campaign, posting a 3.41 ERA and 121:56 K:BB over 145 frames. However, his season ended in late September with elbow soreness, and while he was cleared of structural damage, the injury could affect his earnings potential this offseason.

Tyler O'Neill RF | BAL
Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Does not exercise opt out
O'Neill will remain with the Orioles after declining to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
O'Neill is owed $33 million over the next two years, and he's wisely decided to opt into that deal after slashing just .199/.292/.392 over 54 games in his first year in Baltimore. The 30-year-old should bounce back to some degree in 2026, but he will remain an injury risk.

Cole Wilcox RP | TB
Rays' Cole Wilcox: No longer on 40-man roster
The Rays designated Wilcox for assignment Monday.
Wilcox made his major-league debut this season with the Rays, getting roughed up for seven runs (three earned) over one inning in his lone appearance. The 26-year-old will go through the waivers process and could remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed.
-
Garrett Acton RP | TB
Rays' Garrett Acton: Booted from 40-man roster
The Rays designated Acton for assignment Monday.
Acton made one scoreless appearance for the Rays in 2025 but spent virtually all of his time at Triple-A Durham, where he held a 3.68 ERA and 71:27 K:BB over 58.2 frames. The 27-year-old is no longer on the 40-man roster but could stick around in the organization if he passes through waivers.

Stuart Fairchild RF | TB
Rays' Stuart Fairchild: Activated and DFA'd
The Rays activated Fairchild (oblique) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Monday.
Fairchild missed most of the second half with an oblique strain. While he will be recovered well ahead of spring training, the Rays have elected not to put him back on their 40-man roster. Fairchild is a career .223/.305/.384 hitter across parts of five major-league seasons.
