Eovaldi (4-3) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, throwing six innings and surrendering a walk, five hits and just one run while striking out six.

Eovaldi continues to defy Father Time and furthered a monster start to the season that's seen him give up just three earned runs across his past six starts. He may have come out on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel with Carlos Rodon on Thursday afternoon, but Eovaldi's season-long stats continue to sparkle as one of the bright spots for the up-and-down Rangers. After this outing, the 35-year-old ranks fifth in MLB with a 1.60 ERA and first with a 0.79 WHIP, among qualified starters.

The Red Sox transferred Yoshida (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Yoshida has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from a right shoulder procedure he underwent in October. He restarted his throwing program earlier this week and is still likely several weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, so his move to the 60-day IL doesn't impact his return timeline. It does, however, open up a spot on Boston's 40-man roster for Ryan Noda, who was acquired from the Angels on Thursday.

The Angels traded Noda to the Red Sox on Thursday in exchange for cash.

The Angels designated Noda for assignment Sunday after he started the season at Triple-A Salt Lake with a .634 OPS through 154 plate appearances. He'll reclaim a 40-man roster spot upon joining the Red Sox, who have been looking for an answer at first base with Triston Casas (knee) out for the year and Romy Gonzalez sidelined by a quad injury.

Olson (finger) threw on flat ground Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Thursday marks the first time Olson has done any sort of throwing since he landed on the injured list Monday due to inflammation in his right ring finger. The right-hander is confident he won't need to spend much more than the 15-day minimum on the IL, though he'll need to start throwing off a mound soon for that to be a realistic possibility.

Arias isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Detroit.

Arias will get a chance to clear his head Thursday after going just 4-for-33 with 12 strikeouts across his last 10 games. Daniel Schneemann will start at shortstop and bat sixth while Arias rests.

The Guardians reinstated Thomas (wrist) from the injured list Thursday.

A bone bruise in Thomas' right wrist has kept him on the injured list for the past month, but he's been given the green light to rejoin the active roster after going 8-for-24 with two homers, five RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base during his seven-game rehab assignment. The 29-year-old figures to slide back in as Cleveland's primary center fielder now that he's healthy, and he'll look to bounce back at the plate after starting the season with a .366 OPS through 48 plate appearances. Will Brennan (forearm) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

The Guardians placed Brennan on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to left forearm inflammation.

Brennan will be eligible to return from the IL on May 30, although it's not clear whether he has a chance for activation on that date. He picked up just one hit in 11 at-bats since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus in mid-May.

Jones signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Jones was let go by the White Sox on May 10 after slashing .145/.254/.258 across 71 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte. Now part of the Astros organization, the 27-year-old switch-hitter will fill in as outfield depth for Triple-A Sugar Land, and he's unlikely to get another look in the majors as long as he continues hitting the way he has been.

Trout (knee) said he had no soreness after jogging on the field Monday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Monday's jogging session was a big test for Trout, as it was the first time he has jogged on the field since he landed on the injured list May 2 due to a bone bruise in his left knee. The star outfielder was upbeat about his progress Tuesday, saying, "I'm really excited with where I'm at right now. We're upping the intensity and there's no soreness." Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports that Trout ran again Wednesday at 80 percent intensity (he was at 50-to-60 percent Monday), though he hasn't yet cleared his next hurdle -- running the bases. However, Trout has been able to play catch and hit in the cages with "no pain, no issues," so a return from the injured list may not be far away. Bollinger indicates that Trout may not need a minor-league rehab stint before being activated and suggests that the three-time AL MVP could be back in action before the end of the month, though there's no definite timeline for his return yet.

Giolito will not pitch Thursday after Boston's game against Baltimore was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday. Giolito will start the second of those games, while Brayan Bello will take the ball in the afternoon contest.
